To those that may not be so familiar, a short potted recap...After the merger of two long established automotive companies in 1955, the Studebaker-Packard Corporation looked to design their own “Finned” car with the development of the 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk.Raymond Lowey and his design studio were commissioned by Studebaker to design a more “European” styled car. In 1953 Studebaker launched the Starliner Coupe, recognised as "one of the most beautiful cars ever made." Beautiful they were, but powerful, they were not.In 1956, top-of-the-range, Golden Hawk; the evolution of the ’53 model was launched. It also addressed the issue of under-power with the fitment of the Packard 352” engine, producing 275 BHP. Studebaker had succeeded in producing America’s fastest family car in the Golden Hawk.
