The 428 Cobra Jet big-block V-8 engine, dated 8B5 (or February 5, 1968) a few months before the build date of the car, and VIN stamped C-6 automatic transmission were completely rebuilt to original factory specifications. She has been driven approximately 3,100 miles since 2012, mostly to local shows and events in the Los Angeles area. In addition, #2524 was featured in a recent Ford family wedding. Retired from competition, occasional driving does results in slight patina, primarily within the engine bay and undercarriage. Minor wear to plated and bare metal components is to be expected and is regularly detailed to maintain the factory finish. She is a 1968 Shelby GT500KR, a concours Triple Crown winning "King of the Road."Rare - one of 518 GT500KR's produced and only one of a dozen to win the Concours Triple Crown.Desirable - Raven Black over Black Décor interior, offset by a white power convertible top and white rocker panel stripes. Exterior Description Raven Black body works shines like an obsidian mirror. All body gaps and body panel alignment are better than the factory could do in 1968. All the fiberglass work is also original to the car. FIt and finish of the paint and body is superior to most any other example currently available on the market. You will notice that the car is photographed with both vintage Good Year polyglas tires and modern radials. The car can be fitted with one or the other at the buyer's option as a condition of sale. Interior Description The interior is in absolute factory OE condition. ?Restored to concours specifications, her interior trim looks and feels new. Hard to find wear items such as the steering wheel and shifter handle are likewise restored to showroom condition. She was factory ordered new with White Power Convertible Top with Glass Blacklight, GT Equipment Group, Visibility Group, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Tilt-away Steering Column, AM Radio, Interior Decor Group, Tachometer and Trip Odometer. Every acccessory works. Engine Bay Description Engine bay also presents as factory equipped. She is driven occassionally, so it is natural to see a mild patina soften the plated and bare metal finishes. During a recent concours detailing, all these surfaces were cleaned and any factory labels that displayed wear, such as the DR sticker on the shock tower, were replaced with fresh ones. When you are looking for a fine collectible, it isn't just how recent the restoration it is, it is how quality of the work done and how well maintained the vehicle is once it is completed.
