For sale, 1999 Honda Civic LX with 5 Speed Manual transmission. The car has been in my family since it was purchased new from the dealership in 1999. We have the full written maintenance history which I can email to you upon request. Right now it's my daily driver but I'm in the process of getting a new car and will no longer need it. Honestly this car is really fun to drive. It's very small and nimble, handles nicely, and has plenty of power-- especially since it's paired to the 5 speed manual transmission. Super easy to park. Also a good choice for people learning to drive stick. I get 35 MPG doing mostly highway driving. 1999 was the second to last year of the subcompact 2500 lb Honda civics--now they are larger and heavier. Interior is in reasonably good condition. Clean minus some coffee stains on the carpet and some light scratches and scrapes in a few places. Exterior has dings dents and scrapes but nothing causing a problem. Honestly that's the way I prefer it because I take front row parking spaces whenever I can and have absolutely no worries about people messing the car up. There are places where the paint has been scraped off that have been coated with rust converter to prevent corrosion. Mechanically the car is turn key and ready to go. In a past life I did mechanic work for hire so every time maintenance is required it gets done promptly. Tons of work has been done in the past couple years so many items will never need to be replaced. I did a compression check 1 year ago (15,000 miles ago) and measured 120 psi in each cylinder. Also notable is that the car:-Doesn't leak oil-Doesn't leak gasoline-Doesn't have much rust, and where it does have rust it's usually superficial surface rust. (See note RE: back bumper below) Tons of work has been done in the past couple years so many items will never need to be replaced. Within the past two years (~30,000 miles) the following maintenance items have been performed: -Oil Pan Gasket Replaced-Air Filter Replaced-Complete New Exhaust System: Manifold, Manifold Gasket, Front Pipe, Resonator Pipe, Muffler, Catalytic Converter-New Distributor Cap and Rotor-New Spark Plugs-Upstream oxygen sensor replaced-PCV Valve Replaced-New Fuel Lines-Headlight Lens Restoration. (Lights are crystal clear now, those kits really do work)-Headlight Bulb Upgrade to 130% brightness halogens-Manual Transmission Oil Change There are a few functional imperfections:-AC is weak-Gear shifter has play. This happens on all M/T Hondas of this vintage. It doesn't interfere with driving at all, though it can be a shock to people used to tight shifting German cars. There is a fix which is to tighten an easily accessible bolt underneath the shifter, but it only lasts for a while and then it has to be done again. I don't care enough to do this for myself, but will do this for the buyer or show you how if desired.-Rear tires have a very slightly uneven wear pattern. I just noticed this today after driving on these tires for 3 years so obviously not problematic.-The metal insert within the rear bumper is super rusty (See the last picture) . During my tenure with the car I've just decided to let sleeping dogs lie on this one since it's not causing a problem. If this is the only thing preventing you from making an offer let me know and I will have it fixed.-Radio will randomly invert the volume knob at times. Aftermarket radios are super cheap if you find this offensive.-Windows move at different speeds.-Front Right power door lock will flake out occasionally. When this happens the lock won't always fully engage/disengage on its own but can always be toggled manually.-Engine burns oil. Doesn't cause any functional problems or noticeable smoke but I recommend checking and topping off at some point between changes. Note that in one picture you can see some fuel lines; they have since been replaced and now appear as a bundle of rubber coated tubes running the same length. This is a rare 4.3 liter V6 diesel-powered Cutlass. It runs and drives great and has always averaged 27-30 MPG. The front end, suspension and brakes have been serviced and do not require anything at this time. The engine and transmission are replacements and have less than 100k miles each. The tires are at about 80% and are evenly worn. I had an alignment done last Spring and it drives straight. I have too many cars and need to let this one go. During some heavy wind since the photos were taken, a tree branch fell and hit the hood leaving a ding about the size of a a quarter. I will be adding a photo of this. Bidders with fewer than (5) transactions must contact me prior to purchasing. If not, then I will be forced to cancel these bids. I reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time. Thanks for looking!
