As far as I know this vehicle has remained in the Northwest (specifically Oregon, Washington, Idaho) its whole life. It sat garaged for approximately 15 years before I purchased it, and I have kept it garaged as well with no winter driving. There is very little rust or body damage and most of the original undercoating is still intact. The original 318 motor runs well, but has an occasional lifter tick after a cold start or after extended highway driving. Read this listing carefully, view all 24 pictures, and feel free to ask questions. The original engine and drive train had approximately 126,000 miles on it when I purchased the vehicle 5 years ago. I have added approximately 13,000 miles since then. Before I purchased the car the rear shocks and leaf springs were replaced sometime in the late 70's/early '80s (air shocks + adjustable shackles), the factory steel wheels were replaced with cast steel wheels by Appliance around the same time, and true dual exhaust was installed sometime in the mid '90s. The tires that are on the car right now were on it when I bought it, so they are at minimum 20 years old, probably older.I have a binder of receipts for major parts/labor (excluding routine maintenance) going back to early 2011 that will be included, but below is a quick summary:The original Carter 2bbl carburetor was replaced with a remanufactured Carter 2bbl (original will be included)The points/condenser style distributor was replaced with a remanufactured electronic ignition setup The original water pump and radiator were replaced (originals will be included)The original Torqueflite A904 transmission was replaced with a Torqueflite A904 built by TCI (original will be included)The 8 ¼” rear axle was professionally rebuilt with a new Mopar Suregrip carrier and new stock spec. 2.73 ring and pinion gearsThe original fuel tank and fuel tank sending unit were replacedThe original brake shoes and springs were replaced and the drums were cleaned and rotatedRust:Middle of driver's side floor pan is rusted and that whole side will need to be replaced; right now there is sheet metal fastened over the pan as a temporary fixSmall rusted through area on each rear quarter panel where the wheel well beginsSmall rusted through area on the driver’s side inner fender beneath the battery trayLight surface rust on the trunk pan and on the inside of the rear quarters in the trunkExterior Condition:PROSStraight body and frameAll original body panels including hard top roofIntact glass, bumpers, trim, lights, and badgesIntact factory undercoatingRelatively minor body rustCONSPassenger's side hood hinge is out of adjustmentDriver's side lower front valance is dented on side of parking light; bumper directly above is slightly bent Driver's side headlight trim is crackedDriver's and passenger's side tail light trim is badly crackedPassenger's side rear wheel arch has a couple small dings above it; largest one is about the size of a thumbprintInterior Condition:PROSAll of original interior present minus wiper switch knob Original headliner intact with no tears or sagging Original gauges/heater/wipers/interior lights are functionalRear floor pan, front passenger's side floor pan are solidCONSDash pad is cracked on both driver's and passenger's side in multiple placesTop of rear seat has large tearPassenger's side front seat has large tear on bottom, driver's side front seat has large tear on outer top cornerOriginal AM radio not installed (but will be included)In summary, you are looking at a solid, original, running and driving 1971 Dodge Charger. I have the serial number and fender tag decoded, clear documentation of major parts/labor for my period of ownership, a clean title, and all the original parts I removed. It's not easy to find a base model Charger of this vintage that isn't rusted out or parted out. Many possibilities lie ahead for this car, and I sincerely hope that the new owner will appreciate it and enjoy it as much as I have no matter what direction he or she decides to take it in. If you are serious about making me a reasonable offer, I will be happy to send you more pictures or speak with you on the phone. Thanks, MattThis should be common sense, but I will say it anyway: THERE IS NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. I have made a good-faith effort to describe this vehicle and its flaws, but my description should not be considered comprehensive or 100% accurate. You are buying a well-used, mostly original vehicle that is over 40 years old and in far-from-perfect condition, so set your expectations accordingly.
