William L. "Bill" Mitchell was an automobile designer who was recruited by Harley Earl to join the Art and Colour Section of General Motors in 1935. Mitchell is responsible for creating or influencing the design of over 72.5 million automobiles produced by GM, including such landmark vehicles as the 1949 Cadillac with its P38 influenced fins, the 1955-57 Chevrolet Bel Air, the 1961-76 Corvette Stingray, and his swan song, the 1980-1985 Cadillac Seville. Since it was the last design of consequence that General Motors design chief Bill Mitchell oversaw, Wayne Kady’s 1980 Cadillac Seville is thought by some to be the ultimate expression of Mitchell’s design philosophy. No doubt Mitchell was a fan of what he called the “London look”, and the ’80 Seville had that in spades: a classic vertical grille, a bustle shaped rear end, a raked C pillar and a long hood. When accused of borrowing the bustle-back from a contemporary Lincoln, Mitchell reportedly got indignant and said that he stole it from Rolls-Royce, not the cross-town competition in Dearborn. The second generation Seville made its debut in the fall of 1979 to great fanfare and controversy. Although there were decent production numbers for this body’s 6 year run, very few were saved by collectors, mainly because of the popularity of the midsized coupes of this era. This is proving to have been a big oversight. On any given day you can find a nice low mile Eldorado of this generation, but a pristine low mile Seville is very scarce. And Cadillac collectors have noticed, with the demand for a nice second generation Seville more than doubling the price over the last five years. This gorgeous low mile, all original Seville was purchased recently by my 87 year old father, who has always driven Cadillacs and lamented the sale of his series 2 Seville in the 1990s. Unfortunately though, after recent triple bypass surgery, and while he is in great overall health, he (we) decided his driving days are setting. After scouring Hemmings, eBay, and Craigslist, he found this car local. It was the pride and joy of a local personage who had two cars, this Seville and a Lincoln Towncar; the Seville was her go to Sunday church car. Dad acquired the car from her estate; he dealt with her nephew who as a professional mechanic, had always taken care of her cars. This Seville has always been garaged, has always had a battery tender attached, has always been started regularly, and has always been serviced regularly. One interesting detail, look for the image of the door jamb service sticker that shows a 1991 oil change at 21xxx miles. Freshly Serviced: After purchase, we took the car to my mechanic and had him do a comprehensive service. Here is a list of what we had him do: · Replaced the master-brake cylinder. · Brakes themselves were in tip-top shape but we did a complete brake fluid flush after replacing the master brake cylinder. · New front shocks. · New exhaust system from the exhaust pipe back, including a new muffler and resonator. · New OEM power antenna motor. · New plugs and a general tune-up. · New tires. The tires on the car were like new but they were installed in 2009 and had developed a flat spot on one tire. · Oil and filter change. · Coolant was like new so we didn’t drain or flush. · Belts and hoses were like new so we left them alone. · Battery is good. Wiper blades are good. Every light works. All instruments work. Mileage computer works. Everything works. Remarkable. Mechanically, this car is ready to drive across the country. The AC works great, the climate control system works as new, the cruise control works as new, the optional radio/cassette player sounds great, not a rattle or hum. However I noticed that when using the cassette, one channel will go in and out. It might be that the head needs to be cleaned with a Q-Tip and alcohol. Or it could have been the included cassette of Patsy Cline; I don’t have another cassette to test. Visually the car is like new. It is in spectacular condition. Not a door ding, scratch, the panels are laser straight; there has never been any body damage and there is zero rust or corrosion. All the light lenses are clear without fade. It is in as close to mint condition as you will ever find. I have seen newer cars with the same mileage that could not hold up to comparison; the car is in remarkable condition. Even the cigarette lighters have never been used. The car’s interior smells like a new car, the leather is spotless and supple. All the glass, rubber grommets, and seals are like the day they left the factory. No scratches to the all original glass, all the rubber bits are in fantastic shape. The last thing to mention would be how visually, the car is a really beautiful color. The same can be said about the leather, which comes very close to matching the exterior hue. I spent a lot of time looking up the paint codes and the paint code WA-8240 was called WOODLAND HAZE METALLIC. The interior color I believe was called MEDIUM COGNAC. I decoded the RPO codes online from the Cadillac forum and the interior code corresponds to four different options. As two were for an Opel, which is GM in Europe, and one was for a Holden, GM built in Australia; I deduced the MEDIUM COGNAC would be the correct color name for the US. Please see the entire list of the included GM RPO codes and notes that are at the end of this listing. You will see that there are some codes that show as “No Match”, I did my best to find out what those codes corresponded to but in searching the Cadillac forum, found other owners having the same issue so assume that without further investigation, we will have to accept that we tried. A long listing, yes. I tried to highlight each area of interest, so for those who aren’t as obsessive, wouldn’t have to wade thru the minutia. For those that enjoy the details, well here you go! It is a really nice car that is worth spending the time on. Price: Well I know we spent the dollars to acquire the best but Dad is open to reasonable offers. We went with the “Buy It Now” so either the car could be purchased outright, or we could field offers; the car needs to be sold. 1984 GM RPO CODES-CADILLAC SEVILLE CODE DESCRIPTION Printed from http://www.cadillacfaq.com/rpo AG2 DJUSTER PASS ST POWER, MULTI-DIRECTIONAL AM6 EAT FRT SPLIT BENCH AR6 ESTRAINT SYSTEM SEAT BELT, SHLDR HARN, MAN A81 ADJUSTER PASS ST BK POWER, RECLINING B34 COVERING FRT FLOOR MATS, CARPETED INSERT B35 COVERING REAR FLOOR MATS, CARPETED INSERT B36 NG FLOOR MAT, LUGG COMPT B93 NTATION EXTR, MLDG, DR EDGE GUARD CA2 ROOF COVERING VINYL - DELETE C49 DEFOGGER RR WINDOW, ELECTRIC B68 WOODEN DC2 MIRROR I/S R/V TILT, DUAL READING LAMPS, COMPASS, O/S TEMP DISPLAY D60 OVERRIDE TRIM & PAINT COMPATIBILITY D64 MIRROR I/S FRT VAN RH, SUNSHADE, ILLUM D74 MIRROR I/S FRT VAN LH, SUNSHADE, ILLUM FK2 ARM LH TORS BAR SPRING ADJ (A) F57 No Match K19 REACTOR SYSTEM AIR INJECTION K34 E CONTROL AUTOMATIC, ELECTRONIC LIN PLANT CODE LINDEN, NJ, USA LT8 No Match L02 No Match MX0 MERCHANDISED TRANS AUTO PROVISIONS, O/D M57 TRANSMISSION MAN 5 SPD, CLARK, CL3905, 5.08 1ST, .77 5TH, O/D NA5 EMISSION SYSTEM FEDERAL, TIER 0 NB1 EMISSION SYSTEM CLOSED LOOP N37 STEERING COLUMN TILT, TELESCOPING N91 COVER, WHEEL SIMULATED WIRE, LOCK QJW No Match T82 AMPS CONTROL AUTOMATIC ON-OFF UM7 RADIO AM/FM STEREO, SEEK/SCAN, CLOCK, ETR UY9 CLUSTER KILO & MILES, MECHANICAL DISPLAY U66 SPEAKER SYSTEM 7, CUSTOM U75 ANTENNA POWER, RADIO VK3 LICENSE PLATE FRONT FRT MOUNTING PKG V4C No Match V51 SE PLATE FRAME, FRT & RR V73 VEHICLE STATEMENT USA/CANADA YLT No Match YLO No Match YL1 No Match YM4 SSING ZONE OFFICE ORDERS YM5 STRIPE ACCENT - DELETE YN6 SSING STOCK SALES YT9 PROGRAM EXPOSURE INITIATIVE I: C/F/G/H/J/K/M/N/S/U/V/W/Z- TRK CKGMPST 7 1 8 Y36 No Match 6ZJ COMPONENT FRT LH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (6ZJ) 60F No Match 60I *SEE BELOW 60X TRIM COLOR SEAT COLOR BEIGE (OPEL) 602 No Match 609 No Match 62L *SEE BELOW 62U *SEE BELOW 7ZJ COMPONENT FRT RH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (7ZJ) 8KD COMPONENT RR LH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (8KD) 9KD COMPONENT RR RH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (9KD) RPO Code *Explanation/Description 60I INTERIOR TRIM MED COGNAC (91) 60I INTERIOR TRIM NEUTRAL SHALE (97) OPEL 60I INTERIOR TRIM CAPPUCCINO (01) OPEL 60I INTERIOR TRIM LIGHT NEUTRAL (00) (HOLDEN) RPO Code *Explanation/Description 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DARK SPIRAL GRAY MET (03) 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, LT TERRA COTTA MET (95) 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, LT TAUPE (96) 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, RODIN SILVER MET (BRAZIL) 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DK BLUE MT (00) 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, SILVER PLUM (00) 62L SECONDARY COLOR EXTERIOR, LIGHT IVORY, OPEL(99) RPO Code *Explanation/Description 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DARK SPIRAL GRAY MET (03) 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DK BLUE GREEN MICA (04) 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DK BLUE MET (01) 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, STING RED (02) HOLDENS RPO Code *Explanation/Description 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DARK SPIRAL GRAY MET (03) 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DK BLUE GREEN MICA (04) 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, DK BLUE MET (01) 62U PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, STING RED (02) HOLDENS

This is a Very clean, never been completely stripped to bare shell, "recreation project car" it was originally a XH29 383 2bbl baseline charger, but I have completely gone thru this car to change it over to be a beautiful "award winning" XS29 440 six pack R/T SE "tribute car" I did put a repaint on it back in Aug of 2001 but it's still looking real nice as you can see by the most recent pictures attached in this add. So from that...where do I start. The Engine perhaps, well. On Sept 1st 2002 the engine build was completed. Mileage then was showing 73,042 on the odometer. This motor I did was fully built up from the block as a street/strip spec motor (based off a Aug/1990 popular hot rod magazine article on specification for a Dick Landy Legendary 440 wedge street/strip build project) At that same time, it got a fresh 727 automatic transmission with shift kit put into it. A couple years after that the front brakes were upgraded from drums to disks, and a correct 440 six pack brake booster was restored and installed and a fresh rebuild on the rear drums were done, the 4bbl was pulled and replaced by the mighty 440 six pack intake system, dash was pulled from the car and restored with a brand new tic toc tach and the original am radio was rebuilt and a separate line was added to it where you can actually plug your cell phone into to the original AM radio system to run music off of it. In the glove compartment there is an after market radio that you can run instead for CD's. In March of 2005, The old black vinyl roof was removed and the entire top was gone over with a fine tooth comb new metal where needed was done and a new (very rare optioned V1G) gator grain top was added to the Car as part of the tribute project. This top was a one year only option on the mopars (1970 only) and is very VERY cool. A new driveline was just put in a couple years ago (from drivelines northwest) and the stock 2.76:1 rear end was pulled and replaced with a fresh 3.23:1 sure grip setup, new shocks all around added them too. All wiring has been replaced throughout the entire car inside and out and a new fuel tank and fuel lines were put in as well. That was done by me just last year. Interior is in very fine shape (No rips or tears). Legendary interior SE door panels we also added as part of the recreation project. As of today, The odometer now reads 89,992 on it. This car doesn't even need to be seen in person to appreciate. It's just plain beautiful. Serious buyers only and full payment must be deposited and verified and completely accounted for before car can can be signed over and released. Buyer responsible for all shopping and transport costs.
