This has been my daily driver for about a year now. I got the opportunity to buy her after relocating to NC for work, as my first car was a Passat, and I have been in love ever since. I have nothing but love for this one as well, I just wish my contract wasn't ending so soon. The vehicle is in absurdly good condition, especially given its age. She doesn't have any of the 'typical' old car problems – she doesn't even have typical old Passat problems: All of the door locks work, all electronics work, no ABS issues, no electrical/insulation/wiring issues, all of the marker lights are actually still attached, no broken vanes on the vents, no ignition issues, no oil pressure issues, etc. The tires are literally new (as in less-than-500-miles-on-them new), clutch is still in very good condition, brakes have nearly all of their pad left, windshield wipers are new, and all lights work. The engine is also extremely healthy – she starts on the second turnover with the engine cold (!!!), and burns no oil nor coolant, nor are there oil or coolant leaks anywhere in the engine. The engine nets great gas mileage figures, and the turbo makes the car ready to move whenever you are. Jobs performed recently include: -Timing belt replaced -PCV system completely cleaned -AutoRx preventative treatment ran -Oil changed with full synthetic (oil always changed with full synthetic) -Battery replaced (battery is about 1 year old now) -Cabin air filter cleaned -Brakes replaced (brakes about 1 year old now) This car has 3 outstanding issues – the gas hood support no longer holds the hood up, the radio fuse (on the back of the radio) is blown, and the AC charge is getting low. Obviously, there are no illuminated check-engine lights, nor illuminated dash lights of any kind. The spare tire is full size, and has seen some use (though not by me), maybe 50% tread left. The original 'widowmaker' jack is functional and stowed with the tire, as is the wheel nut wrench. This car does have the Monsoon sound system upgrade.
