There are 2 others for sale right now in the U.S., and both are in the mid $35K range and neither are as original and well documented as this one! Best deal on all of Ebay! Up for sale is an absolute one of a kind, historical custom Cadillac Seville San Remo convertible originally purchased new by the last reigning princess of Hawaii, Princess Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kawananakoa of the House of Kawananakoa. This vehicle has the utmost in historical significance in every respect. It was purchased new from Ogner Motors in Los Angeles, Ca right at the beginning of 1980. It was used as her personal estate car to transport celebrities and dignitaries alike. This car has a fully documented 16k Original miles from new. The unique part of this car is not only it's royalty history, but it's documentation. I have never owned a car documented so well as this one. It comes with everything from the original purchase contract from Ogner, personally signed original checks for the purchase and every repair, copies of all bank statements, insurance paperwork, transport paperwork, receipts for repair and service, and the best of all... personal letters from Ms. Kawananakoa to her personal secretary, helpers, chauffeur, lawyers when she was suing Ogner and the Dealer in Hawaii over unacceptable repairs, The documentation is like a very complete biography of this car from the day it was new. The personal letters are priceless.. mostly unhappiness over issues with the car, repair shop (Shuman Carriage), staff, etc.. including the return letters from the staff, letters from staff to other staff, Letters to and from her attorneys, from Ogner motors directly, from the repair shop, etc... It is unbelievable.. There is more and more... Simply the best documentation anyone could ask for... and lots of royal stationary. The car itself is very original. Most of the original lacquer is in place, however there have been a couple of small repairs over the years.. done well, of course. The original finish does have some checking on the top surfaces, but still presents well. Very straight original body with maybe a small ding or 2. Nice filler panels. Original trim is very nice with some slight aging/pitting on the a couple of pieces of trim. Still very presentable and shiny. After all, it is from Hawaii.. The top was replaced about 20 years ago to the tune of $5K and is standing up well with only a couple of slight rub spots in the fabric right behind the windshield. Could use some selected weatherstripping replaced around the top and doors, but not bad. Very nice chrome bumpers and lights with a couple of small repaired cracks in the RH headlight bezel and possibly the LF bumper corner pushed toward the filler panel a little? maybe??. Very nice glass all around and nice plastic rear window that is still very usable. Power top car. Top working fine last opened, but have not tried since stored. Comes with the ORIGINAL leather parade boot/cover. Mechanically, she runs well. The fuel injection seems to work proper. The car drives well and has great power. Ice cold A/C and good heat. A very well maintained car and smooth driver. No major leaks or mechanical issues. The car was sold to a collector in Hawaii before our ownership. He had dual exhaust installed with custom mufflers and resonators. It has a very nice, deep sound to it. I believe it might need an alignment, but could be wrong on that. The complete brake system has been replaced/rebuilt in the last year with new master cyl., 4 new calipers, new pads, brake hoses, etc. the service has been brought up to date recently and the chassis lubed and inspected. The original and very rare factory small hub wire wheels are beautiful and retain their original matching GM center caps. There are 4 brand new tires and tubes and were balanced with weights on the inside. The engine wa replaced by Shuman Carriage in Hawaii... twice.... the paperwork is a bit interesting as to why and what happened to the first replacement. Needless to say, unhappiness ensued and another replacement engine was shipped overnight! at the cost of the shop to satisfy the Ms. K. What a mess for the shop... So, the engine was black when installed, not 1979 blue. The valve cover gaskets were replaced recently and a inspection revealed a "as-new" engine on the inside.. It looks as if it has no miles on it. The car came factory with air leveling suspension and it seems to function properly. New rear fuel lines and fuel filter were also recent. A very, very clean chassis showing a pampered 16K original miles.. This car was optioned with the Ultima interior. It is absolutely original and in very,very nice shape for it's age with only minor wear on the driver's seat. Some fading but that is to be expected. Very nice dash and trim. Carpet is nice and black but at some point they put a small patch on the floor of the driver's side. It is in the paperwork and is covered by the floor mat.. But looks good.. if you notice it under the mat. Upgraded Alpine stereo installed by previous owner sounds very nice. Some slight drying of the leather on the top of the rear seat but all in all, very supple and luxurious for a beautiful Italian interior. All in all, this has to be one of the rarest, best documented custom coach built Cadillac's in existence. This car is all original. One of 24 reported built, only a few in existence and in very private collector hands. Most in existence have had major restoration done. This one is ORIGINAL! As built. And you know they are only original once. This car is absolutely a top quality investment and a fabulous addition to the most astute of collections... I believe it is the only ROYALTY owned San Remo in existence. If you are looking for a blue chip collector investment, this is it. Ms. K paid $59,000.00 for this new in 1979! A museum piece for sure. This is a one owner car that has been garaged in Southern California all of it's life. My great aunt drove the car only locally and they occasionally took the car on longer trips to see relatives in northern California. The car was very well maintained up until 2003, when my great aunt became very ill. My great uncle had the car serviced completely, all necessary work completed, and put it in his garage, never to see sunlight or be run again...until earlier this year. My aunt passed some years ago, and recently my uncle. My cousins didn't know what to do with the car and another, so they decided that my 80 year old father should buy them. Well, my father really didn't have use for the cars, but since they twisted his arm, he paid them way too much for them and took possession. This is a 250 inline 6 cyl., with A/C, Automatic, AM radio, power steering, power brakes, etc... no power windows, locks, or cruise... A typical game show give away car! My father, a long time mechanic and restorer from 50 years ago, decided he had to get this car running. So, he performed the following (with my help): Cleaned fuel tankNew fuel lines - completeNew fuel pumpProfessionally rebuilt Carb.New batteryOil and filter changeNew power steering pump and hosesNew A/C beltNew complete distributorNew spark plugsComplete new rear brake systemFlush and refill cooling system with new coolantNew coilNew air filterComplete front end clean and greasingRemoved and cleaned/checked front brakes- pads were newNew door striker bushingsEtc.... The car had new shocks, transmission service, tie rod ends, and a couple other things before storage in 2003. I have driven this car a little just locally and it runs really nice and smooth. Has far better power than I would have expected from a 6cyl. Pulls just slightly to right, but just a little. Might need an alignment? Tires are good. No real rattle or squeaks, a very tight car. The paint is original and very clean, with the exception of the right front fender that was repainted when the car was about 2 years old due to a parking lot scrape (per my second cousin). It looks fine. Nice chrome and trim. There are some various little door dings and chips, but nothing major. The interior is original and clean showing pride of ownership. However, it is starting it's 70's GM plastic deterioration as expected. Carpet is thin and there is a some fading and a crack or two on the dash, even though it has been covered with a dash mat most of it's life... Can't beat that 70's GM quality! The rear plastic bumper valance is cracked and aging but still holding in there.. All gauges work, as does the A/M radio. The ventilation works well, but the A/C will need re-charged. The compressor turns by hand fine. The engine bay is original. You can see how clean it is and it has never been washed or de-greased... All in all, if you are looking for a clean, retro "Oldie Classic" Impala with the thrifty and rare 6 cyl. engine...this is it. Not mint, but better than most. It actually does draw attention when you take it somewhere. This car DOES drive nice and can be driven away. We have driven it about 40 miles and it seems fine.
