This Silver Shadow II, in weekly use as a pleasure vehicle, is maintained by John E Robeson Service Co., Inc., of Springfield, Mass., a leading specialist in Rolls/Bentley and other high-end motorcars. I acquired it in 2012 in basically good condition, and have since invested a good $15,000 in upgrading its mechanical condition, addressing such areas as brakes, suspension, engine seals, and the like, my consequent asking price reflecting this investment, as it does the present condition of what is comparatively an excellent premium-grade motorcar. As I uphold this positive assessment of this Silver Shadow's status quo, John Robeson has identified several areas to which future attention can be directed. These seldom are inexpensive, and it is assumed that a buyer would expect such. This motorcar is, after all, over thirty-five years of age, with inevitable repair issues, some attending the present status quo. That is, any owner of such a motorcar should count on spending several thousand dollars a year on maintenance-renovation. I should also caution that while a comparitively excellent example, this assessment does not bear the standard of show cars, which this Silver Shadow II is not: it is a beautiful, eye-catching motorcar used for weekly pleasure drives (150 miles per week average), which typically include the Catskills, Berkshires, and Adirondacks, these mountainous terrains requiring a vehicle of outstanding reliability. I shall only say that it hanfdles wonderfully. My reason for selling? Last year I retired, with my income falling below where I can justify budgeting several thousand a year to keep this fine motorcar at the level it deserves. And, there is an issue of maintaining domestic tranquility involved, my wife being patently unhappy with what I spend at Robeson's. To be sure, I would love to see it acquired by someone with the resources to fully restore it!
