It was the core model of the Rolls-Royce range during that period. The Silver Cloud replaced the Silver Dawn and was, in turn, replaced by the Silver Shadow. The J. P. Blatchley design was a major change from the pre-war models and the highly derivative Silver Dawn. As part of a range rationalisation the Bentley S1 is very similar, apart from its radiator grille. For sale is a beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Shadow with the 4 inch extended wheelbase, giving a voluminous back seat legroom area. I have only had the car for about six months, but in that time period have completed a lot of work. It came with a vinyl roof in reasonable condition, but after stripping it off for replacement found too much rust. the entire brown part of the car was stripped to bare metal. All dents, rust, ect, was addressed and repaired. The car was rerfinished in the original brown metal flake color. The black needed attention on one side and was redone also. The result was gorgeous, and the pictures do not do it justice. When this was finished, we put new rear shocks on and rebuilt the rear suspension rams. The ride on these cars is more like floating, ever over speed bumps! The hydraulic system works well for the suspension and brakes without leaks. I addressed the inside which was overall very good, and did some minot repairs on the leather. The wood on the doors was taken off and refinished proplerly and looks like new factory! This car starts every time, and after a little warm up, runs quiet and smooth as a good Rolls should. I think it could use a carburetor rebuild. It runs well, but at highway speed will hesitate a bit. I was going to use this in my business, but I now have a black Silver Spur a bit newer which is better for what I do. You will have little to do to make this car first class, and I will be the loser. A tune up and carburetor rebuild and you are done. In the meantime, you can drive it off the transport truck and enjoy it right away around your neighborhood. The brakes are very good and have nearly new pads.
