With original cost rising to approximately $269,000 MSRP plus federal luxury tax, only 219 Corniche IV were sold of this coach built top-of-line classic worldwide, and a mere 96 built to American specifications over four years. This well-preserved good climate Florida specimen has traveled less than 20,000 miles in the last 22 years, or only about 900 miles average per year and is in very exceptional condition. By exceptional, we mean it is likely the nicest one out there and certainly the nicest we have ever seen. NO dents, rust, scratches, marks in wood, leather problems, etc. Elegantly finished in Arctic White exterior with tan soft-top, the interior top roll, knee roll and center console are all done in a soft tan leather as are the seats with a handsome parchment piping. The boot cover is also in soft tan with parchment piping as is the boot bag. It’s quite a handsome car. The Corniche IV incorporated a number of important and significant changes from earlier Series I-III. The top became fully automatic latching and a new four-speed GM4L80 transmission was incorporated, replacing the earlier models three-speed GM400 unit. Adaptive suspension was also introduced and a glass rear window eliminated the issues of the prior series rear plastic window. Full luxury amenities including electric windows, heated seats, locks and soft-top. Books and owner’s manual as well as a silk-lined leather pouch for holding them are included as well as a copy of the original history book and build sheets. Outside rear mirrors have optional chrome covers and both doors have lockable compartments. Dual horns are also fitted. These Corniche IV are understandably highly sought after by collectors as the finest examples of the now classic hand made drophead. Most are now a part of larger collections, so this car represents a rare opportunity to acquire a pristine low mileage example in stunning colors. The Rolls-Royce production at Crewe lasted from 1946 thru 2002, a total of 56 years. 56 cars were planned of the models made by Rolls-Royce as of 2002, including Silver Seraph, Park Ward and Corniche Convertible. A mere twenty-two were made of the Corniche, the top of the line, as listed in a specially prepared commemorative brochure listing the final cars by serial number and colors, including type of wood utilized. Of the twenty-two Corniche, a mere six worldwide were designated Last of Line and this is one of those six cars. It is a left hand drive car. The Final 56 as they were called had a number of special features. Some of the cars had special wood trim inlaid with a "Spirit of Ecstasy" motif on the wood cap rails. There was also a special commemorative badge on the center console. Instead of the traditional black RR logo, it was instead done in red, a nod to the beginning of Rolls-Royce motorcars. There were also special Ecstasy motifs on the hub caps. Other touches of chrome such as mirrors were added. This particular car is the only one of the six finished in black exterior paint and soft top with tan leather and black piping. RR hand stitched logos were used on the headrests and this particular car was given the magnificent Amboyna burl wood, said to be some fifteen times more expensive than regular burl and usually found only in small pieces. Instead the car is literally bathed in this exotic wood. This car has been kept for what it is, a rare piece of automotive art, end of one of the most important car makers of all time. As such it has traveled a mere 13,459 miles documented since new. The condition is impeccable. It has been a part of a large collection of important Rolls-Royce, serviced and detailed regularly. Nothing is needed. A copy of some original brochures accompany the car as does an original commemorative brochure and a very special flying lady memento supplied with the car originally. The flying lady sits upon a base of wood matching the car and the bottom is done in matching leather to the interior of the car. The car is also otherwise very complete with all books, tools and jacking equipment.
