*Please note: this car will sell this week via buy it now or best offer.*Here is a good condition 1980 Porsche 928 4.5L V8 with 140k miles. 3-speed Mercedes Benz automatic transmission. Currently NYS inspection. This car was $35,000 new in 1980 which is the equivalent of $115,000 in today's dollars. Weissach rear axle. This car was state-of-the-art in 1980 and was actually intended to be a replacement for the 911. This is my fathers car I am listing for him so I'll do my best to describe what I know about it. He has two 911's and no room to store this for the winter. He bought this car to bring back to showroom and did a lot of repairs. This car was recently serviced by Powertech of Rockaway NJ. During this last service they replaced the timing belt as well. Anyone who knows Porsche/Audi knows that's the big item. Also both front tie rod ends, ball joint, front end alignment, AT pan gasket, new Interstate battery and oil change. All told about $2500 in new parts and service within the last 200 miles. I have all the receipts. The car spent its life in NJ and seems to be well maintained. Has all the good stuff like original owners and service manual. The interior is shockingly good for this age. There is some leather shrink on the dash but the carpets and seats are in amazing condition. The rear cargo mat has been recently replaced because they fade but I still have the original. The original tool kit is included as well as the original collapsible spare and air pump. The car also has the original dealer installed Motorola cellular phone which still works. The car starts up first time, every time. The car is in good condition for a 35 year old. The paint shows its age but it is still a 10 foot car (from 10 feet away it looks fantastic). There are some repairs done to the body and many panels have been repainted by the previous owner. A few rust spots, most notably along the bottom of the drivers side rear window. Rears tires are ok, front are worn and need replacement. The wheels are original but have been painted black at some point. I would personally refinish them back to silver or find another set. Windows and seat all work, the mirrors and sunroof work, even the clock works. The AC turns on and the condenser kicks on but is not cold. This is back in the R-22 days so it will need to be converted. There are the few old German car quirks, washer fluid motor needs attention, sunroof switch works but is backwards, the signal switch does not self cancel but i do have a replacement that is included. e-brake does not work. I don't know much else about this car but all in all a really solid car! Underneath is very clean with no rot at all. I drove this car 5 hours back from NJ on a 95 degree day and had no issues at all. Did not overheat one bit. The condition of this car via Hagerty's is a solid 3.5 and that's where I priced it. If you would like to buy the car car with a credit card through paypal that would be fine. Please note you must add 4% to cover the paypal fee. Full payment is due within 48 hours. I don't care how, PayPal, check or whatever. If you plan to pay with a check you must send it via express mail or UPS/FedEx next day. The car is sold as is. I can arrange to meet with a shipping company but it is your responsibility to arrange that. Please feel free to call me, Tim, during the day eastern time at (315) 313-4011 and please check out my walkaround video. This would be a great first Porsche for anyone. Porsche 928 click to enlarge
