It featured a new turbocharged engine displacing 3.6 liters producing 402 horse power. Twin turbochargers and air-to-air intercoolers, electronic engine management, redesigned cylinder heads and other modified engine internals were used. The 993 Turbo was the first Porsche Turbo with all wheel drive. The electronic engine management helped the Turbo to achieve fuel efficiency far superior to any of the previous production Turbos. In connection with two catalytic converters and an on-board-diagnostics-system including four oxygen-sensors, it also made the 993 Turbo the cleanest sports car at its time. The Turbo's bodywork differs from the Carrera body by widened rear wheel arches (approximately 6 cm), redesigned front and rear bumper moldings, and a fixed rear wing housing the intercoolers. New 18-inch (460 mm) alloy wheels with weight-reducing hollow spokes were standard. This was one of the first production cars in the world to have OBDII diagnostics (the 3.8 liter and track versions didn't have it, and the normally aspirated 993s didn't get it until 1996). All turbos since have had water-cooled heads. The car also had brakes that were larger than those on the base Carrera model. The production run for the United States was from 1996 through 1997. You really don’t want to go racing, but you do enjoy the extra power while not sacrificing comfort. The GTS also received the 3.8 direct injection motor (no IMS bearing), which provided an ample 408hp. Also, it is the only variant of the RWD platform that comes in the wider body. Furthermore, it is equipped with the center-lock RS Spyder wheels (painted matte black exclusive to GTS), GT3 Alcantara interior, exterior GT3 styling cues, and nearly an additional 30hp over the Carrera S (X51 power option pack is included with GTS). This GTS was built in February of 2011 and sold new on April 20th, 2011. It was heavily optioned from the factory with the following: PDK Transmission Self Dimming Mirrors Heated Front Seats Dynamic Cornering Light Sport Chrono Package Plus Extend Navigation Mod-PCM 3.0 Bose Surround Sound System XM Radio Rear/Center Console Exterior Color Seat Backrest Exterior Color Rear Lights – Clear Glass Optics The total MSRP was $128,505. In addition, the selling dealer installed a completely integrated Escort Passport radar detector system with front and rear detection. This system cost well over $3,000. Currently, we have two Gen II 997’s in stock…this one and a 2009 Carrera S. Driving them back-to-back, the GTS advantages are strikingly clear. It has a much snappier throttle response with definitely more low-end grunt. The PDK shifts almost intuitively with no lag or hesitation, especially when you are in Sport Plus mode. The brakes have incredible bite with no fading and the handling is perfectly balanced. You can literally do anything in this GTS from cruising on a backcountry road to daily use. California registration is paid through April of 2017. CPO Warranty is good until April of 2017 or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Paint and body condition I would rate an 8.5 to 9 out of 10. Has a few tiny rock nics on front bumper cover, a tiny door ding and a small spider crack in bumper cover which are all unnoticeable unless you look from very close. Has Porsche racing side decals and Boxster S decal on pop up rear wing. Convertible top is in excellent shape and power top goes up and down with no issues. Plastic rear window is brand new! Has smoked rear tail lenses and front headlights are Litronic which is Porsches way of saying they are HID lights. Great looking car! The interior is in very good condition overall. This was a non smoker vehicle and has no odd smells. Driver and passenger seats have no rips or tears and look great. Carpeting looks brand new and has a nice set of original floor mats as well. Dash is in very good shape and everything functions as it should. Climate control works without issue, and AC blows cold and heater warm. Has aftermarket Kenwood CD/MP3/AUX/Ipod stereo which sounds great! Has Porsche emblems embroidered into the headrests and rear wind deflector. Mechanically, the boxster runs excellent. Engine runs very strong and quiet. Has Carven aftermarket exhust which sounds a bit loud for my taste but you may like. These cars had the perfect blend of classic Porsche performance with modest creature comforts. In particular, the 95’s have proven to be one of the most reliable. With their OBD I computer, they are highly tunable and have no issues with the legendary secondary smog issues and exhaust valve issues of the later 993 models. This is 993 was built on July 14th 1995 and sold new on September 30th, 1995 by the Porsche dealer in Tampa, Florida. It was delivered with the following factory options: 17” wheels Wheel caps with colored crests Automatic speed control CD radio-Alpine (replaced with modern unit) Although not much is known about the early history of this 993, it is evident that it was well cared for. There are stamps in the maintenance book going up to 36k miles. The current owner is a long time collector and enthusiast who purchased this car in 2010. He wanted a fun open air-cooled 911 for SoCal beach cruising. The car had around 50k-miles on it when he bought it. For the past 7-years/10k-miles, it has always been garaged and regularly serviced. Services were either at the local Porsche dealership or top local specialists such as Callas Rennsport. Highlights/recent services and upgrades include: Wiring harness recall performed New soft-top motors Replaced master cylinder/serviced brake calipers Repair driver door stay 18” MY2002 Carrera wheels 60k mile major service: Replace upper and lower valve cover gaskets New spark plugs Oil service Air filter Transmission service New rear wing accordion H&R lowering springs Replaced all three drive belts and fan hub assembly New alternator impeller and fan pulley Annual oil services In total, the current owner has invested around $10k keeping this 911 running properly. The paint looks fantastic and is original (verified with a paint meter). There are minimal signs of use…far less than you would expect for a 22-year old 911 with 60k miles. The original stone guards on the rear quarters are showing some age (see pics). There are a couple scrapes on the bottom of the front spoiler (see pic). There are a few other minor nicks on the lower rocker (see pic). All the glass is original (including the windscreen) and in excellent condition. The original soft top looks near perfect with no wear marks and a clear rear window. The wheels are wearing near full-tread Continental tires. The brakes have about 1/3 life remaining. The interior is equally as nice and original. The leather seats show very little signs of wear. There are no tears or cracks. The carpet and door panels are near perfect. The dash is straight with no cracks. The soft-top headliner also looks very clean with no wear. All the gauges, lights (except the interior dome light), radio, and A/C function properly. The full power top goes up and down with the touch of one button and works great. These last of the air-cooled 911s are some of the best top-down driving examples. You have the vintage feel with all the modern conveniences. They are still very light and nimble…easy to drive daily in traffic or on open road trips. The power feels great from the 3.6L twin plug engine. No hesitation on start-up and it holds a perfect idle. The shifting is incredibly smooth with no slipping or grinding. The clutch engages properly. The brakes have excellent bite with no fade. Turning is responsive and the car drives straight with no pulling. This 993 would make the perfect addition to anyone looking to enjoy that vintage open 911 feel at a decent value. California registration is current and paid through July of 2017. This 993 comes with the owner’s manuals, extra key, space saver spare, jack, tool kit, and tonneau cover. The performance numbers on these cars are incredible. Yet, their ease of use made them a great daily driver option. Talking with countless Porsche mechanics, they all agree that these Turbos are among the most reliable that Porsche ever built. This Turbo was built in October of 2000 and sold new in November of 2000. Although the Turbos came with many standard features that were options on the lower models, this one was still nicely equipped with the following factory options: Stainless steel door entry guards with logos Front bumperettes delete Heated front seats Automatic dimming mirrors (center and sides) and rain sensing Wheel center caps with colored crests DSP digital sound processing Becker CDR-22 CD radio CD compartment Rear window wiper This Porsche has been in California since January of 2002. The current owner purchased it from a colleague in 2005. Between the two of them, they have not only owned it most of its life, but have been responsible for investing well over $15,000 in tasteful enhancements. It was never tracked or abused. As a result, the condition is excellent. All the paint is original and verified with a paint meter. There are minimal signs of use…far less than you would expect with a Porsche of this age. The wheels look great with no curb rashes and are wearing near full tread tires. The brakes have just under half-life remaining. The glass is all-original and in excellent condition as well. The taillight lenses have the typical superficial stress cracks that are on most wide body 996 examples (see pics). The interior is equally as nice. The leather seats look fantastic with no cracks or tears. The carpet, dash, door panels, and headliner look perfect. The rear view mirror automatic dimming function doesn’t work and there is a change in the glass look (see pic). All the gauges, lights, radio, and A/C function properly. There is a reason why 996 Turbo values have been creeping up over the past few years…they are fantastic to drive and very reliable. The power is intoxicating on this example. The upgraded GT2 turbos spool with ease and have minimal lag. Power is estimated at 550hp or maybe even more. The shifting is smooth and precise. Handling is spot on and drives straight down the road. The upgraded suspensions really make turning crisp without sacrificing the ride comfort. The brakes have great initial bite with no fading. This Turbo would make an excellent daily driver or weekend touring machine. California registration is paid through the January of 2018 and it just past California’s strict smog test. This Turbo comes with an extra key, tool roll, space saver spare, jack, air compressor, owner’s manuals, and car cover. Carpeting looks brand new and has a nice set of Porsche factory floor mats. Comes with 2 Factory Fob keys with working alarm and keyless entry. The car smells clean inside as this was a non smoker vehicle. Mechanically, the 996 runs excellent and is fun to drive, especially with the top down. The 3.4l engine runs smooth and is powerful. The automatic tiptronic transmission shift smooth and on point. The car drives straight on the freeway and has a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires, fronts look near new and rears are at about 20%. The car handles good and drives smooth overall. To note, I had to replace the factory gauge cluster which showed 70 something thousand miles. Problem was, the thousandths place (the number after the 7) was blank as the LCD had failed. I bought a replacement with 75k on it and put it in. Carfax shows proof of mileage as well as oil change sticker on windshied from previous owner mileage was right around 75k. Original which faced gauge cluster comes with, you can plug it in and see for yourself or original mileage. In fact, I even have one of my own. They give you the great looks of the classic Early 911 with a better chassis and equipment. In my opinion, they make one of the best Porsches for touring and performance events. The key to building a great “back-dated” 911 is to start off with a solid and low-mile chassis. Too often these days, 911 hotrods are being built off of tired and bent old scrap cars. The chassis is the foundation to the build and is everything. This Porsche was built in January of 1976. The mechanic who worked on it for many years believes the same local Southern California owner had the car since almost new. Earlier in its life, the original motor broke and the owner had a low-mile 3.2L engine from a 1985 911 Carrera installed. Finally, in 2013, this primary owner was ready to sell the car and the mechanic referred the current owner who was looking for a good original car to build into an outlaw. This example was almost too nice to modify (see pics). The chassis was extremely dry and straight with no signs of abuse. The same mechanic who worked on it for all those years (a local SoCal Porsche specialist) was hired to also perform the RSR/ST-style conversion. Documented (see pics) highlights of the build include: New steel turbo flares (9” and 11”) massaged to RSR-style and properly butt-welded Correct early steel hood Original steel front fenders modified with ’68 front turn signals Steel molded/frenched turn signals (front and rear) with brake ducts 911 R-style taillights All metal body panels except fiberglass front and rear S bumpers Steel decklid with custom louvers BNB exhaust system with heat exchangers Custom 2-in/2-out muffler H4 headlights with HID bulbs WEVO shifter Refinished 16x8 Fuchs Alcantera interior finishes (dash, visors, and door tops) Momo suede steering wheel Fresh upgraded brake rotors and pads All new rubber body seals Custom houndstooth factory sport seats Rebuilt A/C system with clock delete vent Detailed engine bay Carrera front right fender oil cooler with custom bumper vent Fresh lightweight carpet and RS America door panels Vinyl stripes and rocker graphics In the last 6-months/250-miles, the current owner decided to have the drivetrain freshened and invested over $13,000: Remove engine and transmission Reseal engine Major service New valve cover gaskets, fuel filter, air filter, and distributor cap New oil return tubes w/aluminum upgrade style Replace all rocker arm shafts Adjust valves/New spark plugs New heater and oil hoses New clutch kit Lightweight sport flywheel Full transmission rebuild (with 2-year warranty) -by German Transaxle of Bend, Oregon Repack C/V joints Repack front wheel bearings We just had our Porsche mechanic do an inspection on the car and found it to be in very good condition and indicative of a low-mile well maintained SoCal example. The compression and leakdown test results were excellent: 1) 160/3% off 2) 167/1% off 3)162/2% off 4)160/2% off 5) 162/3% off 6)160/4% off This early 911 hotrod is a nicely executed example that won’t break the bank and is turnkey/ready to be enjoyed. The paintwork looks great with minimal signs of use as it has been driven less than a couple thousand miles since the build. The hood and decklid matte black stripes are vinyl and can be easily removed…same goes for the “Porsche” script rocker graphics. The flare treatment was done nicely. The paint has some minor prep flaws but not noticeable unless very close and in the right light. The Fuchs have a correct anodized/frosted finish with satin black centers. They are wrapped in fresh Toyo R888 tires. The brakes are also near new. The interior looks equally as nice and has a performance/outlaw attitude. The later factory sport seats have been recovered with orange houndstooth inserts. The custom orange dot Coco mats add a nice finish as well. The headliner is made from a Perlon-style carpet for a unique hotrod look. The dash has been wrapped in Alcantara and is nice for reducing glare. In cold weather, the dash material will lift a slight bit. All the gauges and lights operate properly. The a/c system blows cold and the clock-delete vent helps provide ample volume of airflow. The Alpine Bluetooth system works fantastically and has a separate microphone as well as satellite radio capability. From a driving perspective, this is one of the easiest early air-cooled 911s I’ve driven. Thanks to the Motronic fuel injection system, it starts with ease and idles evenly. The power feels strong in this light chassis. Unlike builds from later SC’s and Carreras, the ’76 911s still only weighed about 2,400 lbs. Plus, with the removal of much of the weight, this example feels very much like an early longhood 911 with the benefit of a stiffer chassis and better suspension components and geometry. The handling is crisp with nice driving characteristics. It is compliant enough to not beat you up on 1,000-mile journeys while also giving the driver wonderful feedback on backcountry twisties. The brakes have ample stopping power for this package. Finally, the shifting is fantastic. The freshly built gearbox is a joy to row through the gears. The sport clutch combined with the light flywheel really help transfer power to the pavement quickly and with confidence. This 911 is the perfect blend. It is one of those examples that is nicely sorted, fun to drive, budget-friendly, solid build, and ready for any kind of adventure. Whether it is for vintage driving events like the Targa California, occasional sport-purpose track days, or even daily use; this 911 can easily wear any or all of those hats.
