Greetings, My name is Russ Rodriguez of Fibersteel. We have been in the business of fabricating parts and cars for the Porsche enthusiast for nearly 20 years. We strive to product hi quality cars and parts that are rare and unique. We do just about all the work in house here in our fabrication shop located in So. Cal. in the city of Azusa (near Pasadena). 1948 Porsche No.1. Type 356 is the first Porsche named car built. Most Porsche fans have only seen photos and some lucky fans have seen the original in the Porsche Museum or perhaps on very rare occasions when the Factory take it out to shows. This is the car that started it all. Any collector would love to own it, but I'm sure Porsche will never sell it. However you can own this Handbuilt No.1. Tribute car. (Currently in our shop and available for inspection and a test drive). Please call 626-334-0404 to make arrangements. Enjoy some pics of this very special One-of-a-kind, Hand built car. Take a close look at the details and the 178 HP Subaru engine, yes I said Subaru engine. This is the ultimate sleeper....To my knowledge, this is the only No. Tribute car in the World with a Subaru engine hidden under the bonnet, making it rare to see and a blast to drive! We at Fibersteel did not build this car but we did do all the upgrades that took it to the next level as you will see in these photos below. The company that originally built this replica is now out of business (this is a really tough business). I believe they built only a handful of cars prior to closing. The last ones were built on VW floor pans and may have lacked some quality and performance. Perhaps this is part to reason for the closing... This car is one of the first few made on a 550 Spyder mid engine chassis that is much closer to the original chassis design and way more rigid than the VW pan design. The current owner purchased this car from photos he saw on the internet. When the car was delivered, he drove it around the block, then parked it in the garage and was very upset, to say the least. He then called us because he had been a prior 550 Spyder customer and asked if we could help. We ended up redoing all the mechanicals and interior. Here's a quick list of what we did: Re-fabricated the rear half of the chassis to accommodate the new engine, transmission and exhaust using crossmembers from our original 550 chassis jig.Re-enforced the rear half of the chassis with a welded steel cage and rear shock tower strut bar for strength and rigidity.Converted the rear suspension from torsion bar to adjustable Bilstein coilovers.Upgraded to disc brakes all around and modified the front suspension.Installed Fibersteel 550 pedals and handbrake.Hand fabricated aluminum interior panels. new fuel cell and lots more... Check out the photos of the aluminum interior panels we made. We even removed the old cardboard door panels, fabricated aluminum panels then covered them with blood read leatherette to ensure a perfect fit that will never warp or fray. We added an outer rear view mirror for practical reasons, this is a serious driver. We kept it removable for shows and photo ops. This is the part of the build that I think tops it off. The original engine was a cheap, poorly built VW air cooled engine with no power and no fun!! This engine was so slow the owner asked us to install the exact opposite, the fastest engine with the most reliability, so we put in a 178 hp, normally aspirated Subaru Four Cam engine. At first I thought this was crazy. I thought this was the wrong car to put such a killer engine in. This meant we had to redesign the entire rear half of the chassis, build a new super heavy duty trans-axle, figure out how to install the radiator so it would not be noticeable and not alter the appearance of the car in anyway. Then we had to figure out how to improve the front suspension and add proportioning valves so we could adjust the brake bias since we didn't know for sure what to expect. It was Amazing!! This is one of, if not the fastest car I've ever driven. The motor is 178 HP and the car weighs around 1400 lbs. It's impossible to drive without tapping the throttle and smiling as it pulls you back in your seat. If you try tapping it while turning you are instantly drifting like a kid on a go cart track! I can't explain the feeling of driving this car, I can only say that if I had the money I would buy it for myself.... I will probably build one for myself someday. The jaw dropping results of the Suby install led us to improve the interior in order to fully compliment the uniqueness and rarity of this special car. Aluminum panels were painstakingly made to fit as perfect and precise as possible. I think Porsche would approve. The owner spared no expense to make this a work of Art that you can enjoy looking at, and a Beast that will pull you back in your seat with amazement. This car is really fast!! and a blast to drive. The asking price is well below the money invested, so don't hesitate to bid, once it's gone I don't think you'll ever see another. Please feel free to call me if you would like more information. The No.1. car we are selling in this Auction belongs to this very good customer and is subject to being sold before this auction may end as we are advertising it for him elsewhere. I can deliver to Los Angele Docks for international shipping. Buyer pays all shipping cost. Best Regards, Russ Rodriguez Fibersteel626-334-0404

$5.2 Million is what collectors would expect to pay for a part of racing history like this. Yes, we would love to sell it for $Millions, but we know that's not going to happen. However, if you're a Spyder enthusiast and would like to own this stunning and accurate Hand made Spyder Clone, we have set a reserve price of just over $150,K Considering that it takes about 1800 hours (10-12 months) of fabrication labor to hand build this car from scratch, and you add up the cost of overhead, raw materials, hard parts, engine, trans, suspension brakes, tires and wheels etc. It would cost nearly $230.K to build. This project has been a labor of Love and will only be offered for a limited time. History: This project officially started back in the mid 1970's. A true Porsche enthusiast had the foresight to take an original 550 Spyder and cast a detailed mold of every part of the inner and outer body panels, then he made a welding fixture (jig) directly on the original 550 chassis and captured all the correct sizes, bends and welds of this unique and rare structure. With original Spyders selling for more than $5 Million dollars. This type of tooling would be almost impossible to create today. After nearly eight years in the making, we have built our first Prototype Spyder from this tooling. This is like no other Spyder being made today. If you are all about the details, correct body shape and size, then this may be the Spyder you've been dreaming of owning. We have taken years perfecting all the small bits, parts and tooling, so please look closely and you will see that it's all there and correct. Chassis: Correct and accurate in all it's details, even the oval cross member for the pedal mounts. Functioning front and rear jack points, Correct torsion bar front and rear suspension, optional Hi Chassis also available. 550 jack, tool kit, spare tire with saddle including leather strap. Updated four wheel disc brakes under our exclusive Fibersteel Alloy Drum Skinz, Correct 16" rims on bias ply tires. Body: Correct shape, size, width and wheel base, low rear fenders, symmetrical wheel well openings, flat spot for rear license plate, front oil cooler with tunnel, grill and alloy belly pan, front brake air ducts, fender flares, inner wheel well shape, rear firewall behind driver and passenger seats, inner quarter panel with access holes (inside and out) for rear torsion bars, rear clam shell tire surround with correct lightning holes, mandrel rivets and mechanical prop arm, aluminum front gas tank tray with correct lightning holes, rivets, fuel cap, large 550 fuel tank and straps, correct battery tray with strap, hood hinges, prop rod and hood limit leather belt. Interior: Correct seats, gauges, dash knobs, bezels, steering system, door hinges, handles, door latches and receivers, pedals, handbrake, shifter with reverse lock out lever, convertible top mounting brackets with dash loops, chicken handle. Engine: The engine that is currently in this Spyder is our prototype Type 1, with our new Active Dual Coil System and four cam style fan shroud. This Type 1 is a 1914cc with dual 40 Weber's that puts out just under 100HP. Please note that this is not the final engine we would like to see in the Spyder. We are offering this engine for anyone wanting immediate delivery and "For Hire" purposes. Otherwise if the buyer is willing to wait for the new Air cooled Porsche type four engine that is currently being built, we will swap out the motor at no additional cost. The new type four will put out the same horse power as the original four cam engine (120HP). The type four motor will have our Active Dual Coil System, four cam style fan shroud and nothing but the best in parts, machining and assembly. We will include a detailed list of parts and the Dyno test results. After many years of building Spyders, we feel that this is the best engine setup for this Spyder. It will be fast and responsive as this car weighs under 1400 lbs. Keeping the horse power as close to the original four cam design, allows for a fun and authentic feel while making this a very Reliable Spyder, ready to start up and go when you want. Larger engine displacements can be arranged, but we feel it's not needed. Transmission: Completely rebuilt High Performance Pro Street Type 1 Swing axle with a Super differential, Aluminum side cover, welded 3rd and 4th gear hubs, hardened keys and steel fork, just to name a few features. We run a 412 ring and pinion so you really feel the pull as you release the hydraulic clutch and go through the four gears. With these 26.5" tall tires there no need to sacrifice the torque pull to get a "freeway flyer". This is the best of both worlds. Miscellaneous hand made hardware: Clam shell alignment pins, gussets and receivers, fuel lines, fuel filter with bracket, metal headlight bucket rings, fuse panel with bracket, brake and clutch reservoir, dual coil stand, tire saddle, metal four cam style fan shroud and engine tin, emulsion tube, air cleaners, brake line brackets and rear bump stops on axle, functioning and correct hood and clam shell locks with church key, the list goes on and on. Paint and finish: It may look like it's old, but it's not. This is a fresh build with an aged look. We gave this Spyder the "Patina" look. This is how a well kept 60 year old car would look like today. Our proprietary finish with aged surface treatment on most composite, metal and alloy parts is not only appealing to look at, but it's also a very low maintenance finish so you can get out and drive this one. Don't just enjoy looking at it, drive it, that's what it's meant to be. As you can see this is a very special Spyder with parts and features you just can't find anywhere. This car is build completely by hand from raw materials. Cutting, bending and welding all the metal, alloy and composite parts are performed in house (Azusa California) to final assembly, fit and finish. This Spyder is a finished running Spyder with many miles on the clock. You can buy it today and drive it away. Located in Southern California, 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Call for an appointment to examine and test drive this rare Spyder today. We have been building top quality 550 cars and parts for the past 18 years, and now we are proud to call this our New "Spyder Clone", unlike anything we have ever built. As you can see, countless dollars and man hours have gone into the development and build of this unique one or a kind Spyder. Here is a chance to finally own a hand built Spyder that is not only accurate and correct, but is also a blast to drive and truly enjoy the 550 Spyder Driving experience. Please submit your best offer. This vehicle is currently being advertised as "For Sale" and "Available for Hire" in Movies, TV, James Dean Documentaries, Music Videos, Print Adds, Fashion Shoots, Corporate Events and Porsche Dealer Show room displays. Therefore we reserve the right to cancel this auction at anytime if this vehicle becomes Sold or out for short term hire. For the true Spyder enthusiast that will not settle for less than Perfection.... Sincerely, Russ Rodriguez 626-334-0404 Fibersteel
