a strong running 944 S, 1 of 3000, and who knows how many exist till this day. has a new radiator, thermo fan switch, hoses, and fuel lines. previous owner did water pump and as well went through the cylinder head around 4.5 years ago, so motor has fresh compression. car has tasteful modifications, a german tuned Leinstung exhuast, welsmeister 250LB springs in the front, and reindexed torsion bars in the back. the 944 S is sitting on Carrera II's with bridgestones with roughly about 50-60% life left. brakes work beautifully. suspension is tight. Arctic white paint is original, and still shines, the paint is actually starting to fade after 28 years on the right front bumper next to the hood. now for the things that will need to some TLC as usual for anything coming on its 30 year mark: 1. tensioner pads (recommended, doesn't make any sounds, just something that eventually needs attention. (front & bottom plastic pieces) 2. valve cover gasket 3. power steering needs TLC, works flawlessly, just has tiny leak out of o-ring. 4. a/c; all components are in tact, just either needs a recharge with the new r134 adapters, and diagnose from there, out of 4 years of owning her, i've never used a/c, love the way this motor sounds :) 5. front right sway bar bushing needs replacement, i'd do all the bushings but, you can just replace that one and you'd be good to drive it for another 20 years, thats the only one that needs replacement. 6. and that tiny little piece of rust that unfortunately beginning to emerge, but as you can see in the photo's, it's not bad AT ALL, just needs some attention from new owner. 7. header panel could simply be removed and replaced, so i wouldn't even count that as an issue, it's an individual piece that could be detached. other than that, this 87 944 S drives straight as an arrow, pulls hard as it came out of the dealership and feels phenomenal for its age. let's put it this way.. when i was shopping for one of these machines, i was never able to find a perfect one, not even one that was relatively running right, either had shitty brakes, terrible suspension or a bad motor for around 3.5-4! this is a timeless machine, Porsches' first twin cam 944 to hit the market that saved Porsche. do some research before getting into one of these, but if you're an investor or someone that understands, you'll know this is an absolute joke of steal, you can't worried about how much you have to put into this, because the longevity and the history of these vehicles are eternal, and if invested in, you have that and more. and don't take that from me, that's just common sense. if you got any questions at all, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. cheers! car will come with original preserved steering wheel not the PP and Dino Hub.

RARE and most likely the Only 1988 PORSCHE 944 TURBO S for Sale in US 1988 with the M44/52 Motor Showing 37,780 MILES ALL ORIGINAL unmolested looks like it was in a Time Capsule. Needs very little attention to make concourse grade. a little interior work on dash and Dash Knee pads discolored leather needs dying. fog light lens on passenger fog light small crack needs, AC could probably be charged up Has been serviced and I just drove it from Wilmington NC to Richmond Hill GA with no issues. Super fast these cars are faster than the 1988 930 Turbos. Lindsy Racing has Kits to Obtain 300, 400 and 500 HP at the Rear Wheel for these Cars. Presently this car is all original and stock I purchased this car a few weeks ago in hopes to use as a track car for HPDE events and eventually work up to the level I can take my GT3 out for track days. After driving car back to Richmond Hill GA from Wilmington NC, noticing the phenomenal condition and speaking to some enthusiast I was advised and soon realized that this car belongs to a Collector or some one wanting an asset investment and not appropriate for some one like me wanting a track beater as this model is very Rare and escalating rapidly in value especially only 1 owner me being the 2nd owner.. Car shifts, Stops, accelerates great with a very tight and rigid handling. What I see this car needs in Order to be in "Perfect New Condition"Dash needs Leather replaced and Dash Knee pads needs leather to be dyed or replaced as it is a little discolored. Passenger side fog light lens has very small crackAC could probably use a little Freon its cold but not like cold cold or maybe that's how cars where back then Small place in Head Liner near back window could use a little attention maybe just some headliner glue.Cruise Control was not functioning during my road trip maybe a fuse not sure.Stereo comes on but I cant get a radio stationPulls a little to the Left so maybe a front end alignmentSmall crack about 1/2 an inch on Spoiler Passenger side. Only has 1 key these are non chipped so inexpensive This Rare investment opertunity is for sale Locally so I reserve the right to end auction at any time. “Sizzle”, was Motor Trend’s Jeff Karr’s most fitting adjective to describe Porsche’s 944 Turbo S. Car and Driver’s Tony Assenza ran his article with the heading “A bargain at $48,350.” Automobile’s Georg Kacher put it simply: “Move over, 911.” However described, the Turbo S represents the pinnacle of the evolution of the 944 series’ genes, first established with the release of the 944 at Frankfurt in 1983. Universally praised, the S was officially the fastest 4-cylinder powered production car of its era, and possessed everything a true Porsche ought to: superior handling, an uncompromising power plant, and exterior lines whose form followed function. The 944 Turbo S fit that description superbly. Those who had never considered a 944 to be worthy of adorning the Stuttgart badge were silenced by a car which by all accounts not only outperformed the 911 Turbo, but set the benchmark for what a sports car could be. The Porsche 944 Turbo had a North American production run of four years. For most of that time, the 944 Turbo enjoyed a 217 horsepower engine with a KKK K-26 #6 turbocharger. However, in 1988 Porsche unveiled the coveted 944 Turbo S, a retuned version of the Turbo which sought to inject staggering performance into Porsche’s premium 944 model. The S version was claimed by Porsche to be based on the Turbo Cup car, a race version of the 944 Turbo which ran in a racing series of the same name. “I couldn’t help but think,” it was noted in the Rothmans Porsche Turbo Cup “Competitor’s Information” in 1987, “that [the Turbo Cup car] would make a great street car… [with] all the power of the 911 Turbo, the behavior of a 944, the stopping power of the 928S4.” It was therefore unsurprising that in 1988 a special S version of the 944 Turbo, based on Porsche’s successful Turbo Cup spec cars, was unveiled. The 2.5 liter power plant, based on the race proven European Turbo Cup engine, was “hand assembled in Zuffenhausen alongside the 911 Series and the 928 S4 engines”. Although the S shared the same displacement as the standard Turbo, it boasted 247 horsepower thanks mainly to its larger KKK K-26 #8 turbocharger. Indeed, Porsche vastly improved the S’s turbocharger technology. Along with the larger turbocharger unit, which subsequently increased boost pressure to 1.82 bar, output increased thanks to a modified DME system, improving air and fuel mixtures, among other things. Resulting engine power translated into significant performance improvements. Said internal improvements prompted Car and Driver magazine, in 1989, to remind its readers that the 944 Turbo was “by far the most potent 4 cylinder engine in the world”. Standing runs to 60 mph as well as the top speed of the car improved accordingly. On paper the performance variation between the Turbo S and the standard Turbo could not have been more obvious. In improving on the 944 Turbo’s already respectable performance standings, the S relied on its horsepower and on its torque, which now reached 258 ft-lbs. The S’s performance was thereby improved upon, especially in terms of standing acceleration and top speed (0-60, for example, now took 5.5 seconds as opposed to the 6.1 achieved by the standard Turbo). However, the 30 minute factory bench tested engine was merely a portion of the race-inspired design of the 944 Turbo S. The car was undoubtedly similar to its Turbo Cup counterpart in other aspects besides engine output, and although it weighed significantly more than the Cup car, the Turbo S boasted the same race-bred genetic code. The famed suspension package, internally designated the M030 option, allowed the S to cut the road in ways that, by comparison, made the standard 944 Turbo appear sloppy. Although the package was different than the Bilstein setup used on the Cup cars, the S’s Koni “yellow” height adjustable shocks, among other components, were designed to mimic its aggressive handling characteristics, although the setup took driving comfort into consideration whereas the Cup cars, obviously, did not. With a combination of the M030 suspension package, lightweight Club Sport forged alloy wheels, and a larger 928 S4 braking system, which according to Car and Driver stopped the car seventeen feet sooner than the standard Turbo (169 feet compared with 186), Porsche rightfully proclaimed: “Not since the 911 Turbo has Porsche transferred a race car so directly into a road car.” The strengthened transmission (engineers hardened first and second gear to accommodate the power increase) of the Turbo S was complimented with an external oil cooler “for longevity and reliability under very demanding conditions”. The car’s 258 ft-lbs. of torque was handled well by the car’s new high friction clutch, which allowed for strong launches and quick, precise shifts unknown to the standard 944 Turbo. The car also received a limited slip differential (with 40% lockup), similarly necessary for managing the high output of the S. Considering its special “limited production” status, the Turbo S was originally intended for a production run of no more than 1000 units. “The new “S” suffix”, said Car and Driver, “denotes an options package added to a limited edition of a thousand 944 Turbos; 700 will be available [in the United States].” However, desirability, relative affordability, and blinding performance allowed Porsche to initially stretch its production figures to 1653 road going Turbo S units, most of which made their way to the United States. The Turbo S, in its original “1000-unit” form, was most notably distinguished by its burgundy “sport cloth” interior and exclusive silver rose exterior. It’s unique Club Sport wheels, headlight washers, protective side moldings, and rear window wiper were all fitted as standard. These features were coupled with a host of premium options such as a powerful air conditioning system, and other creature comforts like power steering, electric windows, a central locking system, a ten-speaker stereo sound system, and individual folding rear seat backs, all of which Porsche admitted “belie[d] the racing heritage of this very exclusive Porsche.” By the latter half of 1988, however, it became clear that Porsche’s intended limited run would not be sufficient in satisfying the growing demand for the undoubtedly superior Turbo model. It was foremost for this reason that Porsche decided to expand production of 944 Turbo S. Simultaneously, the model was opened up to the full range of Turbo options, which among other things no longer limited the Turbo S to its silver rose paint scheme and burgundy cloth interior. At the same time, Porsche essentially ended production of the standard Turbo; for the rest of the 944 Turbo’s production run (1989 in North America, and 1991 in Europe), the “S” package became standard equipment. For the rest of the 944 Turbo’s production run, the car was known simply as the 944 Turbo; the Turbo’s “S” designation, however, was dropped after the Turbo S was fully integrated in 1989.[*] Although the 944 Turbo S is visually identical to its 217 bhp predecessor, the results of Porsche’s retuning of the already superb 944 Turbo are undeniable. “The 944 Turbo S is merely a rolling testimonial to just how effective the right improvements can be in transforming an already excellent car into something genuinely remarkable.” The performance of the car significantly increased on all fronts; the S was truly a thoroughbred, and a world-class sports car whose performance was undeniable. The genius of its design is in the minute details which ensure dynamic, unparalleled spontaneity during high performance driving, but which do not betray the subtle nature of a truly comfortable sports car. Few super cars can lay claim to such duality, to comfort and styling with virtually no sacrifice to bleeding performance. The 944 Turbo S is one of those uncompromising sports cars.

Everything has been properly sorted with true Porsche parts... The interior is near perfect for its age... This car has every power option Porsche had to offer, and everything works! The paint is in decent shape for 26 years old but not perfect! There is some crazing of the clear coat on the flat surfaces. The body has the typical dents and dings for 26 yr's old. Very straight, All body gaps are perfect! The undercarriage has never been abused. Even the bat-wing, and plastic diffuser under the engine are in perfect shape. I fitted new Koni adjustable shocks, sway bars, and drilled rotor's. This car runs and drives excellent, and comes with over $15k in receipts and paper work.... After doing all the maintenance I drove it for 400 miles and decided that she's far to nice of a car for going to the track. So now it needs a new home. These cars are hitting the market right now! Don't miss out on a great investment..

This is my second 944 in 15 years and it is all Porsche in it's handling, power and eye turning ability. My other is 1984 and has been parked for 4 years. This one caught my eye and I bought it in July 2015. I had a new original equipment top installed and it didn't have floor mats so I bought some Loyd mats. Unfortunately for me, I have been in physical therapy for my back for the past two months and need something higher off the ground. I ran a report on this, I think through car fax prior to buying it and as I recall there was a speedometer discrepancy years back when the car was serviced. When I bought it I brought the endorsed Maryland title into the Virginia DMV and it was titled in my name without any issues. The top is manual and the boot came with the car. The top of the line top was installed in September 2015. The car passed Virginia inspection (July 2015) without any issue. The wheels came with the car and are the only ones I have which will fit the car. Engine, oil, fluids are clean. Belts are in good shape. I just can't see letting it sit out here over the winter and just as soon let it go. Please ask me any questions. Thank you for looking.

In 1989, Porsche released a cabriolet version of their immensely popular 944 4-cyl performance coupe. To accomplish this, they incorporated panels from the Turbo model, and the top-down experience of the iconic Porsche Speedsters. They immediately attracted a devout following, and have remained highly sought after vehicles from Porsche’s vast production history. This example is a 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet in Guards Red with the Black soft-top; a highly popular color combination on any Porsche, but especially stunning on the 944. Originally ordered with the optional heated leather seats, an $1,137 extra cost, it was sold for a MSRP of $50,392, which is $91,740 in today’s dollars (adjusted for inflation). Not a cheap car like a Miata MX-5 or BMW Z3. The car has been meticulously been maintained and has service records of everything including oil changes and spark plugs. With the odometer showing just 83,367, this car has had a very quiet life; no hot-rodding, wrecks, or damages. Being only 1 of 1,824 US-spec 944-S2 models built in 1990, this is a very rare car and certainly draws a lot of attention wherever it goes. The car has been very well taken care of over the years, the top is still the original piece, with no major damage, stains, or marks. There are two areas where the top mechanism has worn through the material, leaving small slits that shouldn’t be too hard to repair; the back window has slight scratches and swirl marks, but is not cracked or discolored. Due to concerns about the electrical components that these cars utilized for top operation, it has been converted to manual operation and goes up and down smoothly with ease. When down, the original boot fastens over the top using the factory snaps. It also shows no stains, or damage and really looks fabulous cruising around with the wind in your hair. The body is extremely solid, the car was originally sold in Kansas and has always been garaged and kept clean of mud, dirt, and rain. No signs of corrosion, damage, or modifications can be seen anywhere on the car. From evidence around the door jambs, we surmise that portions of the car have been repainted in the past, but the blending is very well done and the respray is only noticeable under very intense scrutiny to areas like door sills, or trunk seals. Overall, the paint is very glossy, with slight hazing in areas that will most likely buff right out with some attention. Decals at the rear are still bright and clean, no signs of tearing, fading, or wear to the vinyl graphics. The trunk floor is all still factory original, with the space-saver spare tire still in it’s nest. Included in the trunk as well is an accessory Bra to match the covers that are on the mirrors, and a Porsche-badged air-compressor that came with the car. The interior of this 1990 Porsche 944 S2 is all original; the aforementioned heated leather seats are very comfortable, yet are showing slight wear, especially on the passenger-seat’s seams. While not a major deal, these can easily be repaired by an upholstery shop just to make sure that they don’t get any worse. Otherwise, the carpets, dash, and back seats are all exceptionally clean and damage free. The factory BlauPunkt radio got locked somehow in the past, but it can easily be made operational by entering in the factory reset code, which is readily available by Porsche suppliers. The drivetrain of this 944 recently underwent an extensive inspection and several repairs were made at the time. The majority of the fuel system was replaced, to prevent any issues in the future with starting, idling, or performance. Items like the relays, pumps, and filters were either replaced, or professionally cleaned and restored to factory condition. The same approach was taken with other common maintenance areas like belts, pulleys, and accessories; all have now been checked off as repaired, or marked for future maintenance checks. As mentioned before, there is a whole folder of papers that document all the repairs, upgrades, and changes done to this car in it’s lifetime. Engine now shifts very smoothly, runs like a dream, and has zero performance issues whatsoever. Overall, this is a car that has been lovingly maintained throughout it’s life, and while it may not be the most “perfect” 944 Cabriolet on the market, it certainly is in amazing shape and runs like a champ! Of course, there are always going to be small things that can go wrong or be not quite right, so I’ll let the photos show the car’s condition. There are small little scratches, chips, or issues here-and-there in the car, but overall, the car is ready to go on your next trip! 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet Message - 12k Original Miles- Two Fully Documented Owners- Entirely Original, Including Paint- Impeccable Original Interior- Mechanically Excellent & Fully Dealer Serviced Dealership Information Goodman Reed Motorcars805-202-4557info@goodmanreed.comwww.goodmanreed.comSanta Barbara, CA Description 0 0 1 628 3583 Goodman Reed Corporation 29 8 4203 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, 12k original mile, entirely original, dealer serviced, two owner, collector quality 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet, finished in perpetually tasteful, completely factory original Linen Grey Metallic paint over a Linen interior. Sold new with a sticker price of $56,342 ($102k+ in today’s dollars, adjusted for inflation) by Scottsdale Porsche Audi on March 31st, 1990 to a Mr. and Mrs. Johns of Lake Havasu City, AZ, the car would remain in their care as their sparingly used garage queen until 2010, when it was sold with only 11k miles to its second owner, a businessman and Porsche enthusiast from nearby Flagstaff, AZ. Over the course of the second owner’s four year tenure, he accrued a mere 1,000 miles of additional use and had Scottsdale Porsche replace the all-important timing belt and perform the preemptive 15k mile service, amongst a litany of other associated dealer-performed services. Each of the car’s two doting owners always ensured that the car was exceptionally well cared for, always keeping it garaged and maintained and always using it sparingly as a prized occasional driver. The mileage and quality of service is documented by both a stack of service documents (all at Scottsdale Porsche) and an entirely clean CARFAX report. Considering the car’s history, the uncommon Linen Grey Metallic finish is unsurprisingly impeccable, 100% original and marred only by the most minor of imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in the pictures or detract from the car’s considerable appeal. Never in an accident, the body is factory straight and correct, retaining entirely consistent panel fits and gaps. The glass and rubber are in the excellent condition one would expect of a well-cared-for 12k original mile car and the factory wheels are exceptionally clean and wrapped in Goodyear tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car’s interior is commensurately virginal, the Linen leather seats and original carpets showing effectively no wear whatsoever and the dash entirely free of cracks, housing fully functional, all original gauges and components, including the original Blaupunkt head unit and optional Blaupunkt BEA 80 Equalizer Amplifier Unit. The car’s original soft-top, rear window and boot cover are all in excellent condition, and the car comes with an unused front bra system, car cover, records, two sets of keys, the spare and toolkit, the original MSRP invoice and odometer sales documents and all of the original books and manuals (including the stamped Service Booklet). Please Note: While the original Owner's Manual isn’t in the picture, it is included in the sale. Always well maintained despite its sparing use, the car is also extremely strong mechanically, the original, normally aspirated, dual overhead 3.0L Ventiler engine starting effortlessly, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the 5-speed transmission’s gears. Compression is excellent across all cylinders and the car’s road manners are faultless. What’s more, as a 993 owner and driver, I can honestly say that while quite different, the 944 S2 is surprisingly quick and the experience from behind the wheel is thoroughly satisfying and Porsche to a T. It’s becoming awfully difficult to find unmolested, extremely low mileage examples, and considering that only 2,402 NA 944 S2 Cabriolets were produced over the three year production run, this is undoubtedly one of the finest remaining, lowest mileage 944s – certainly that’s available on the market today. Let’s rehash the most important points: 12k Original MilesTwo Fully Documented OwnersEntirely Original, Including PaintImpeccable Original InteriorMechanically Excellent and Fully Dealer Serviced This is a rare opportunity to acquire an incredible, truly collector quality, low mileage, entirely original example – one that is as honest and original as any on the market and one that can be thoroughly enjoyed as it continues to follow its Porsche brethren in the appreciation curve. This is a truly special 944 S2 Cabriolet, worthy of the garage of either the weekend enthusiast or the seasoned collector. Neither will be disappointed. ? ? ?Contact Us About Us Goodman Reed Motorcars is a boutique vintage car dealership specializing in the sale, location and brokerage of rare and collector quality vehicles. color.Porsche gave the 944 a significant boost in 1989 with the introduction of the S2, which boasted a 3.0L 16 valve motor which increased hp and torque across the board. The S2 also came with the smoother bodywork from the 944 Turbo, as well as its larger brakes. The Cabriolet was only offered for 1990 and 1991, before they switched over to the 968. Only 2402 944 S2 Cabriolets came to the USA during the two-year production run. This one is quite likely the nicest one you will find available. It has been owned and serviced locally, and is a well-known car by the local Porsche techs and aficionados. It was shown at many different PCA events, and the owners who cared for it really loved it, and of course stored the car in the winters. It's in completely stock, unmodified condition with the exception of the roll bar shown in the photos. He kept the original rear mats and rear panels so if somebody chooses to unbolt the roll bar it can quickly and easily be returned to stock configuration. The rare Baltic Blue Metallic with Linen interior is a very attractive combination, and is impeccably clean, inside and out.All service is up-to-date, and it has good records to back this up. A full major service was completed at about 26k miles, with the water pump and timing belt changed at that time. New tires were also installed. The car is complete with service records, books, all keys, tool kit, jack, air compressor, spare tire, top tonneau cover and storage bag, and original window sticker. This is a fantastic car that will please the most discriminating buyer.
