The 2nd owner bought the car in Jan 2015 and put less than 1000 miles on the car. The paint appears to be original as we could not find any paint/tape lines, no over-spray and the paint gauge is consistent with that of an original car. It's hard to believe the car is already 30 years old! One can expect minimal signs of use from occasional driving but it's quite clear the previous owners went to great lengths to prevent the kind of dings, scuffs and other normal wear found on most examples. The finish has a beautiful shine with no oxidation or fading revealing it's been garage kept and had the proper care and handling. The glass, lenses, rubber seals and whale tail are all very nice with no cracks or fading. The Bridgestone Potenza tires are new all the way around the car and the Fuchs are free of curb rash and appear to have their original finish. The NON-SMOKER interior displays an equally exceptional quality which is hard to come by on vehicles of this vintage. The leather seats are in great condition with no rips or excessive wear. Mechanically, the car is about as sound as they come. The car starts on demand and the engine runs smooth with no hiccups, smoke or other abnormalities. The clutch feels good and the air conditioning is cold with an updated system. The original owner changed out the turbo/intercooler & exhaust with an upgraded version but kept the original parts which will be conveyed to the new owner (some of which are pictured). The car runs so well with the current set up that we couldn't bring ourselves to change it out however this can be done by the new owner or we can discuss having this done by our air-cooled specialist. This car is presently stored at DC Racing who has maintained it for the past 8 years and also performed a few modifications such as a proprietary A/C modification that keeps this car cool even in Texas! I've owned many Porsches and pretty familiar with them, however, if you have a question about this car I cant answer, Ill get it soon enough. I would best descibe this car as an outstanding driver that also looks as nice as it drives . Cant find any signs of previous collision and doesnt show a ding.. its only been repainted. Interior looks , feels and smells wonderful with no apologies. This 930 #9309800683 is the 683ed out of 1200 Turbo's sold in the USbetween Aug. 1978 and July 1979.The car has 130,381 miles. The photos show the battery tray and the front suspension mounting points,these are spots that commonly have rust on older 911's. I don't Find any rust or signs of rust repair on this car. I also went over the entire exterior of the car with a magnet and found no sign of collision repair or body filler. That said : this car has had a color change. The code in the door jamb is #464 that is for Tabasco Metallic [ brown ]. I can't tell how long ago it was done but I would guess 15 years or more. It was a reasonably thorough job, door jambs ,engine compartment most of front trunk etc. It's been on there long enough to have the usual road rash on front hood, but as you can see still very presentable. Mechanically : I first saw this car about 4 years ago, it still had the thermal reactors on the exhaust from California, and was running poorly. A leak-down test showed the engine to have sever problems at the exhaust valves. The owner agreed to pull the engine and explore farther. The final decision because of the mileage and the damage to the top end was a complete overhaul. We did our normal blueprint back to new installed tolerances, all bearing clearances piston and cylinders,valve guides and valves , cams , rockers, timing chains , tennsioners etc. Also it got new insulator blocks from Turbo Kraft the intake and exhaust ports were enlarged, Elgin cams, rebuilt rockers, injectors were cleaned and tested. then back in the car with 225 mm sport clutch and CV Joints serviced with new boots. The car also has a K27 turbo with larger inter-cooler A 915 5 speed gear box and Up dated AC . This car is presently stored at DC Racing who has maintained it for the past 8 years and also performed a few modifications such as a proprietary A/C modification that keeps this car cool even in Texas! I've owned many Porsches and pretty familiar with them, however, if you have a question about this car I cant answer, Ill get it soon enough. I would best descibe this car as an outstanding driver that also looks as nice as it drives . Cant find any signs of previous collision and doesnt show a ding.. its only been repainted. Interior looks , feels and smells wonderful with no apologies. Ive taken over 80 pictures of this car but if you cant tell something looks right , call or email me and I'll zoom in on anything you want. I can also arrange very reasonable shipping and will facilitate the paperwork. Following below are the notes of the shop owner who personally services this car.. This 930 #9309800683 is the 683ed out of 1200 Turbo's sold in the USbetween Aug. 1978 and July 1979.The car has 130,381 miles. The photos show the battery tray and the front suspension mounting points,these are spots that commonly have rust on older 911's. I don't Find any rust or signs of rust repair on this car. I also went over the entire exterior of the car with a magnet and found no sign of collision repair or body filler. That said : this car has had a color change. The code in the door jamb is #464 that is for Tabasco Metallic [ brown ]. I can't tell how long ago it was done but I would guess 15 years or more. It was a reasonably thorough job, door jambs ,engine compartment most of front trunk etc. It's been on there long enough to have the usual road rash on front hood, but as you can see still very presentable. Mechanically : I first saw this car about 4 years ago, it still had the thermal reactors on the exhaust from California, and was running poorly. A leak-down test showed the engine to have sever problems at the exhaust valves. The owner agreed to pull the engine and explore farther. The final decision because of the mileage and the damage to the top end was a complete overhaul. We did our normal blueprint back to new installed tolerances, all bearing clearances piston and cylinders,valve guides and valves , cams , rockers, timing chains , tennsioners etc. Also it got new insulator blocks from Turbo Kraft the intake and exhaust ports were enlarged, Elgin cams, rebuilt rockers, injectors were cleaned and tested. then back in the car with 225 mm sport clutch and CV Joints serviced with new boots. The car also has a K27 turbo with larger inter-cooler A 915 5 speed gear box and Up dated AC . Description: 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Slantnose Upgraded Engine to 410 HP 353 ft./lbs. The "Engine Torque" is very exciting, a kick to drive! Beautiful Pearl White with Black and Burgundy interior, BBS 3 Piece Wheels and Aero side mirrors. Comes with lots of service records as well as the August 2014 dyno report. This was performed on a “Mustang Dyno”, versus the “Dynojet”. Google it, big difference in accuracy. The "Torque" is 353 ft./lbs. (WHP on pump gas). This thing will "Launch". K-27 Turbo 1.05 bar (hard set limit so you can punch it, hang on, and not be concerned about over boost). i.e. The RPM at Max Torque is 3920. HP (410) more available if you wanted it. This is accomplished at the bottom of 3rd gear, then up to max RPM/HP to load the engine for an accurate computer printout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-1HakB2RG1E History: I purchased this Porsche 911 Turbo from Prudential Insurance as a heavy theft. Before the purchase, the Porsche Race shop where I built the car inspected the shell for any damage. The shell was 100 % correct, free of any flaws and ready for restoration. An extensive build was started to produce an exciting 930 Slantnose in “new condition.” All components of the car (OEM slant nose using the Porsche Stuttgart 930 conversion manual) were installed new or overhauled (i.e. 3.3 Engine, K-27 Turbo, 930 Transmission, 930 Suspension and Dual Fuel Pump System, etc.) Project completed in December of 1995. New “odometer” installed to show zero miles at project completion. Hence the Texas Title shows: "Refurbished" and "Exempt" under Odometer Reading. The result is a beautiful, quick and exciting 930 Slantnose to drive and admire. The night picture sitting in front of the restaurant was taken November 2014 and is not photo shopped, I snapped it with my iPhone. The owner of the race shop (where I now have the car maintained here in Dallas, TX) said to me "You be careful, this thing is Peppy". And he races and maintains several client track cars! Gold Exterior / Burgundy Interior VIN: WP0JB093XGS050835 2 Doors, , Coupe, 6 Cylinders, Automatic Inventory ID: 050835 Vehicle Description The first Porsche 930 was specifically built for Louise Piech, the daughter of Ferdinand Porsche and the mother of current Volkwagon Audi Group ("VAG") Chairman, Ferdinand Piech. This car was built in 1973, a full year prior to the 930s official release. Mass production of the car began in 1974 with the car being marketed as a 1975. The car was designed under the direction of Ernst Fuhrmann who took the turbocharging technology used on the 917/30 CAN-AM and adapted it to the 3.0 litre flat-six used on the Carerra RS 3.0. Hence the car was named the 930 Turbo - meaning (essentially) a 911 with a turbocharged 3.0 engine. In order to manage the increased horsepower from this engine (about 256 hp in 1975), Fuhrmann incorporated larger brakes, a much stronger 4 speed gear box and a revised suspension. Many Porsche enthusiasts complained (and still complain today) about Fuhrmanns decision to use a 4 speed when a 5 speed was readily available. However, to Fuhrmanns credit, he did not believe that the 5 speed gearbox then employed could reliably manage the increased output of the turbocharged 3.0. Therefore, Fuhrmann directed that the "stronger" 4 speed gearbox be used. It remained in use until 1989 when the 930 became equipped with a G50 transmission. In further recognition of the 930s increased power, Porsche developed and installed the infamous "tea tray" rear spoiler which was designed to both increase downforce to the rear wheels and to vent more air out of the engine compartment. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the car was its exaggerated front and rear fenders. These fenders, coupled with the tea tray spoiler, made the 930 an instant icon in the automotive world. Porsche debuted the car at the Paris Auto Show in October 1974 and badged it with the simple word "Turbo." In the United States, a very, very few cars were badged with the words "Turbo Carerra." In 1980, emissions regulations forced Porsche to withdraw the car from the U.S. market. However, owing to the great demand for the car and its ready availability in Canada, a huge number of "grey market" cars were imported to the U.S. In 1986, Porsche again offered the car for sale in the U.S. and continued to sell them until 1989, at which time the car was retired. Two years later, in 1991, Porsche replaced the 930 with the 964 Turbo. The cars sold in the United States in 1986 had the following performance characteristics: 0-60: 4.6 seconds 0-100: 11.6 seconds 1/4 Mile: 17.7 seconds Top speed: 173 mph Horsepower: 330 hp Over time the 930 has come to be seen as a very reliable supercar with few, if any, inherent defects. In fact, the majority of the 930s built remain in service today. The cars low weight, rear engine layout, high horsepower and short wheelbase make it a potent street racer. However, if the engines power is generously applied at the wrong time - say mid-turn - then the cars hindquarters tend to out pace its front wheels. This "spin out" effect is not due to a flaw in the car but, rather, a flaw in the driver. Once this flaw is overcome - through proper training at a DE event - then the 930 is really quite easy to handle. The car presented here is a 1986 Porsche 930 which was made for the U.S. market. It is NOT a grey market car and its gauges read in standard U.S. measurements. According to the maintenance records in my possession, this car was originally manufactured by Porsche in February 1986 and was subsequently sold on April 25, 1986, to T&CS of Ponca City, Oklahoma. The car was originally sold with the following option codes: C02 139 158 220 340 533 650 These codes are recorded in both the maintenance log book and on the white sticker on the bottom of the boot lid. Please note, the unmolested presence of the white sticker on the boot lid strongly indicates that this car has not been in a front end collision. According to the maintenance log book, the car has been regulalry serviced throughout its life at either an authorized Porsche dealer or an independent Porsche shop. According to the Carfax I was given for this car, the car continued to be driven on Texas roads until 2003 when it was reported as being serviced at a facility in Oregon (mileage 32,353). The Carfax shows no history of accident or damage and suggests that this car is worth $220 more than its counterparts. I have no idea how was this magical number was arrived at and please, please, please do not rely on any representations made by Carfax in connection with this car (I certainly do not). Rather, if you are interested in purchasing the car, please arrange for an independent mechanical inspection from a qualified Porsche mechanic. If you would like me to assist you in arranging an inspection then please simply ask. Returning to the cars maintenance history, the car was seemingly placed in storage from 2003 until 2012, at which time it was again registered in Texas. I obtained this information through a local mechanic who told me that the car had been warehoused roughly a decade ago. Based on the foregoing, it appears to me that the odometer reading is accurate and the current mileage - roughly 33,000 - shows that this car is a true, low mileage survivor from the 1980s. After I obtained the car, I performed an initial inspection which showed a few paint blemishes, some sun fading on the seats and very badly worn worn tires. However, for a 28 year old car that has been sitting idle for roughly 10 years, it was in very good shape, e.g., no rust bubbles, no dry rot, no sunroof leaks, etc, etc. After inspecting the car, I immediately replaced all tires 4 with new Bridgestone Potenzas (205/55R16s in the front and 255/50R16s in the rear) and installed a new Bosche battery. I then inspected the brake system which was in very good shape, i.e., no master cylinder leaks, good pads, good rotors. After driving the car, I heard a faint click from the front wheels and decided to replace the front wheel bearings as a precaution. This was not absolutely necessary but, as I planed on driving the car at faster than normal speeds, I felt it was worth the investment. I then changed the oil and air filter, recharged the A/C system (with R12) and fixed some minor cosmetic issues. In example, as a purely cosmetic improvement, I had the alternator fan removed and thoroughly cleaned. As shown by the pictures below, this greatly improved the engines appearance. As I was inspecting the car, I did notice a few minor rock chips on the front bumper, two minor chips on the hood and some small defects on the passenger side rear fender. These defects are not immediately noticable and, in my opinion, do not negatively effect the aesthetics of the car. Further, these defects do not detract from the overall beauty of the car and, in my opinion, the car does not need any form of paint work. After sorting through the mechanics and cosmetics, I replaced the stereo with a new AM/FM/CD/MP3/iPad compatible Kenwood head unit and installed a new set of Infinity door speakers. I do not have the original Reno radio but, if necessary, I can assist in sourcing one. As the car currently sits, it does not have any known mechanical defects and is a "buy it, drive it and enjoy it car." Please note, I do NOT sell concours level cars and I do not represent this car to be a concours level car.
