We purchased this Porsche from the 2nd owner who had the car for 2 years, before illness forced sale. This is an original Signal Red 356. We removed all interior, windows, doors, trunk, hood and engine. We then used rust protector, and sound proofing throughout. We were impressed how solid and rust free this 356 is. All floors are original, We didn't find any extensive rust. This is as solid and original 356 as you will find. The car has resided in California its whole life, and has obviously been garaged. We replaced all weatherstripping, we had all original chrome-rechromed, new carpets, recovered front seats, replaced headliner, and much much more. The engine has been rebuilt, the clutch is new, most suspension and bushing parts have been replaced. This is as nice a driving 356 as you will find. Engine purrs, transmission is smooth and correct, suspension is firm, and brakes work as they should. We have all original date stamped wheels that will come with the car. The wheels on the 356 at this time are replicas. The first owner of this car was an engineer at a Aircraft Manufacturer in Los Angeles. He drove this car back and forth to work throughout his career, making sure that all oil changes and so forth were carried out in a timely manor. Three soldiers were walking the streets in Zurich and came upon this 1951 Porsche. They were amazed by it's appearance, just think of all the new cars being manufactured in 1951.........nothing like this had ever been seen before. This soldier asked his buddy to take this picture with a Kodak camera. This print was made from that original, 2.5" x 2.5" photo in the soldiers album. Only 3 photos exist at this time, the original Kodak print, a 16" x 20" print hanging in the soldiers bedroom and this large, extra large 4' x 6' +- print. The print was mounted on 1/2 rigid foam some 30 years ago. It still looks perfect. If you, your best friend, your lover, your BFF has a Porsche collection you need to buy this now. This 1964 Porsche 356C underwent a cabriolet conversion some years ago. The builder used all of the necessary parts from a cabriolet to convert this coupe into a convertible. The entire rear skin is factory cabriolet, as is the windshield frame and adjoining area. The rear deck lid is factory cabriolet, as well. Mounts for the top frame were fabricated, see pics. Included in the sale is a brand new top frame sourced from Europe. You may have seen these expensive, handcrafted top frames at the L.A. Lit Meet this year. The builder picked a good coupe to start with, as the car appears very solid. The paint, while very shiny, may not be to every driver's taste. The color is burgundy metallic with shadowed racing stripes, please see pics. The project was stalled at some point and stored indoors for a number of years. We gently woke it up and had the following services performed: Full engine tune up w/ points, condenser Complete rebuild of Weber 40 IDF carbs Valve adjustment Fuel system flush with new filter Brake system flush New 12V battery In the car is period correct (and possibly matching) 356C motor #711279. The builder had the engine built with big bore pistons and cylinders and performance Weber IDF carburetors, so it's a bit of a hot rod. The owner also converted the car to 12-volt for more reliability and stronger starts. The car is now running, driving and stopping. Everything included with the car is pictured, so there will be a few pieces left to source to finish the car. The car retains a coupe VIN, but is listed as a convertible on the title. Here we have a car that slept through part of the 90s and missed the dawn of a new millennium. The window sticker shows 1995 so we are guessing that was when it was parked. Chassis 112971 is a 1960 Reutter built B Coupe that currently has engine 714262. When we gently woke this car from it's slumber we took it to our mechanic and had him go through the systems. He rebuilt both Solex carbs, the fuel pump, and put a new fuel cock in and as a result the car is now running well and holding a nice idle. The brakes were adjusted and they are stopping the car but could use some more fine tuning, or the shoes might start being a little smoother once the cobwebs are gone with some driving. The car is still wearing Ruby Red (paint code 702) that is an older re-spray that presents well, but if you go looking for flaws and blemishes you will find some. There are also some small bubbles on the bottom of the doors, please see pics. The underside is solid, again please see pics. The interior presents very well, it has seen little if any action since it was re-done. Also, a brand new battery was installed. Basically, if you have been looking for a nice coupe and are scared by the sky high prices, this solid example should really merit your consideration. It would be a great car to take the winter and fully sort so you are primed and ready for the Spring driving season. This car has a clear title and is ready for export! Many hours and money has been invested in this exceptional build. It's quite unique to find one of this stature with full functioning features. These were molded after real Porsche parts that were sent out to construct them. The 356 replica drives incredibly nice, and is hard to differ from the real one. It is not your average vw chassis (rear pan), but a tubular chassis. Equipped with Front disc brakes. Has a performance 1904cc engine with big bore stroker. Big bored of 90.5mm and 74 Stroker crank. Dual 44 Webber carburetors with dual intake ports, all matted to a manual transmission. Dual exhaust system. Beige Interior is splendid! Fitted with sport seats, stainless steal steering column with aluminum cover and Banjo steering wheel. Nice set of racing pedals, and aluminum functioning air vents. Pioneer sound system with speakers and Ipod plug in. Has working windshield wipers! Custom interior lighting, so when you open the doors the interior lights up. All new chrome miscellaneous pieces through out the interior. Car also has the Lietz luggage rack, which is very hard to find. Car is titled as a 1968 VW which means it’s considered a “classic car” and smog exempt. The Body is straight as an arrow. All doors, hood are all aligned like they should. Battery kit mounted in the front. All the chrome are in great shape I encourage to take a look at all the detailed pictures. I have numerous paperwork on it including builds on electrical, drivetrain, etc... Incredible amount of attention, and detail as been placed in this car.
