IT HAS BEEN GARAGED ITS WHOLE LIFE WITH ME HERE IN TEXAS AND IT HAS 26,XXX MILES ON THE RESTORATION AS I HAD OTHER CARS TO DRIVE AS WELL. IT CURRENTLY HAS A 1963 (SUPER COMPONETS) ENGINE WITH APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES ON THE REBUILD. THE ORIGINAL MATCHING ENGINE HAS ABOUT 15,000 MILES ON ITS REBUILD AND HAS BEEN STORED INSIDE MY GARAGE. ORIGINAL MOTOR WAS RUNNING GREAT, I JUST DECIDED TO SAVE IT AND PUT IN A NEW REBUILT 63 WITH LARGER PISTON AND CYLINDERS. IT WAS ORIGINALLY IVORY BUT AS THAT WAS A COMMON COLOR I DECIDED TO HAVE IT PAINTED IN A FACTORY COLOR CHAMPAIGNE YELLOW. I HAVE THE COA AND IT SHOWS AN OPTIONAL HARD TOP WHICH I DID NOT GET WITH THE CAR. IT IS A VERY EARLY B 356 SHOWING A BUILD DATE OF NOV. 11, 1961 IT HAS THE FOLLOWING FACTORY "ORIGINAL" OPTIONS THAT I SOURCED IN 1983/84 AND ADDED TO THE CAR. It was a euro delivery car so it has the European heat system and it has been painstakingly restored to original functional condition. Has been pampered and garaged since restoration. Coach work -This car has had a full ground up restoration with stripping to bare metal. New steel floor pans, frame rails and complete body work restored over the course of 18 months. Paint completely redone in original Signal red color. No imperfections noted. Interior -completely restored to original condition with leather front seats and vinyl rears as that is how it was ordered and delivered according to C of A. Gauges and radio fully restored. Radio is German band as it was euro delivery. Engine - rebuilt completely original S90 engine done 1300 miles ago. Solex carburetors correct and completely restored, not just rebuilt but fully restored. Left original 6 volt.Pulls amazingly strong and drives beautifully. Original camber compensator in place as well as correct koni shocks. Entire engine compartment completely returned to showroom condition. Original Euro heat system intact and fully restored with never used NOS heat exchangers and never used NOS heat flapper boxes. Knob on floor closes completely and opens to allow amazing heat into footwell. This heat system is far superior to the North American heat for heat production in cold weather and it ensures no fumes in the cab. Underside looks amazing! Steering - new steering connections and original steering box, no issuesTransmission - pulls strong in all gears since restoration. Shifter smooth and precise.Brakes -no issues fully restored drums.Electrical -6v all kinks worked out since restoration. 'C you layer' LED tail lights added for better visibility driving, can be returned to bulbs in minutes.Windows -glass removed and reinstalled during restoration, new rear quarter glass on both sides, all windows function perfectly and are without blemish.Unique Talbott racing mirror mounted on mid front fender. It was on the Porsche COA and when restoring it we placed it back on the fender at the only place it was ever mounted. It looks really cool and placement makes for virtually no blind spot when driving. In short, this car was restored in a caring fashion with a goal to make a great driver/collector car. Whoever originally bought this car checked every box on the order form to make a really cool sports car. I made every effort to preserve that amazing pedigree. We welcome and encourage inspections during the listing time frame. 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster Chassis No. 84375 Engine No. 68173 Exciting Discovery of a Final Year T2 Speedster Numbers-Matching Engine and Transmission Recent Major Service and Detailing Completed Originally Delivered in 5705B Fjord Green / Tan Offered with Porsche Kardex & Porsche Certificate of Authenticity Conceived to meet a specific price point, it was a Spartan purpose-built sporting machine with minimal equipment and no needless accoutrements. Speedsters included a revised windshield that significantly lowered the look of the car. A chrome strip down the side of the car was also added and gone were unnecessary items. With the reduced weight from the elimination of many trim items, these rakishly designed models are even more exciting and fun to drive. Presented here is an exciting final year T2 Speedster, completed on the 1st of September 1958, wearing 5705B Fjord Green over Tan upholstery and destined to Hoffman Motors in New York. Today it displays an aged repaint in red which was applied decades ago when having a red sports car was the fad. The red paint was applied directly over the factory Fjord Green paint which can be seen throughout in areas of wear. The interior remains original and has held up well showing a nicely aged patina. After years of enjoyment the car was stowed away in a California garage decades ago until this year, when it was acquired from its long-term caretaker. Here in Houston, the Speedster was brought back up to roadworthiness with a comprehensive mechanical tune-up addressing the brakes, fuel system including removal and relining of the fuel tank, ignition, electrical and carburation systems. The vehicle’s undercarriage is largely original, aside from the battery tray which was replaced. Power is provided by a solid, Zenith carbureted numbers-matching engine and transmission. Correct drum brakes covered by 4½ x15” 1957 date coded wheels and moon caps suit accordingly. Weather equipment includes the original black cloth top with original side curtains. The body # “375” which matches the last three digits of the VIN number are found stamped on the rear deck lid and doors. The original jack, tool roll and 11/57 dated spare with its original Michelin tire accompany the Speedster. This great Porsche is ideal to use in a variety of ways including driving events and vintage rallies or would make a great base to return it back to its original Fjord green color, the body and gaps are straight and consistent throughout. A 356 Speedster has become a must have for any serious collection and qualifies for numerous touring events around the world. This is a factory original car. COA describes it as an Autureum Green/ tan interior 1600 Normal. Restoration began in 2002 with a 1600 SC engine designed to appear as proper 1958 Super engine. Factor Speedster seats were refinished that same year and are leather and match interior perfectly. Top to bottom body restoration began in 2012. This was a bare metal restoration with all old paint/bondo removed and replaced by LEAD filler. Fjord Green is a proper 1957-59 Porsche exterior color. According to the Porsche factory Kardex provided by expert Jurgen Barth, 214183 was imported by Hoffman, NY and sold new to George Stenger of New Hyde Park, NY; lightly optioned with Dunlop tires and the desired 1600 "Super" engine. The Porsche would remain in New York for the entirety of its life and today presents quite the remarkable find for the most discerning purist. The 356 retains original numbered trim, lenses, glass, rubbers, body panels, pans and stamped (83) front/rear latches. The list continues with details such as original Porsche crests, date coded wheels (8/63), (5/63) date coded window rails, original undercoating, leather spare tire strap and more. The cosmetics have seasoned well, showing age as expected, but capable of being enjoyed as it is. Our entire staff some of which have been concours judges have inspected the entire body carefully and we strongly believe that the paint is the original lacquer paint applied at the factory 51 years ago. There is no evidence of paint work, no evidence of accidents nor damage, or body repairs.The front luggage compartment is complete and original with liner, spare and jack assembly, while the engine bay reveals the numbers-matching "Super" powerplant, again preserved with original decals. The underside shows wear from years of normal use and we note that there are some areas of corrosion (pictured) that will need to be address but overall the floors remain intact and with the original undercoating. The car starts and runs with a healthy revving engine, its last road registration expired this year.They're only original once, and this 356 should garner quite a bit of attention among enthusiasts.
