--> Year: 1965 Mileage: 63020 Primary color: Red Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 1.6 Liter 1965 Porsche 356SC Cabriolet We first crossed paths with this SC Cabriolet in early 2008 in a Seattle suburb from a long time 356 collector. I was purchasing my 356 SC coupe from Tom when his other 356's came into the conversation. Tom told me he had purchased this Red SC Cabriolet from a local doctor on Mercer Island who used it as his sunny day car through the late 1990's. The 20+ year old red paint remains very good with little road wear to show for its seasonal drives. As we all know the sun doesn't shine much of the year in the Seattle area so it was used sparingly. Tom had owned the car for more than ten years and had the interior redone for a summer drive with his wife to Vancouver, BC. Tom lamented about his interior guy having to sleep at the shop for a few nights to get it done on time for the trip. The leather seats and carpets have been hand sewn and fitted with the finest materials: English leather and German square weave carpets. He also added a wooden steering wheel at the time. We purchased the car from Tom in 2011 and instantly sold it to a good client in Whistler, BC where it has remained garaged since. This SC has been used on nice days and gets parked for the long winters up on the mountain. We have been calling our previous clients trying to get a few of our exceptional cars back and were lucky enough to buy this 356 SC. The Cabriolet is tuned up and ready for that daily commute or weekend drive. As I recall, all the engine and transmission numbers match as do the visible panels (haven't checked the doors) and pans are original. This is an excellent 356 SC Cabriolet with its original trim pieces and toolkit accounted for. It is a rare find and will make its new owner very happy indeed. Beautiful July of 57 T1 Sunroof, Kardex correct. Delivered originally in Black with a Red interior, the car is spectacular. Comes with a toolkit. The car was a bare metal restoration on a nice core 57 Sunroof. The floors and longitudinal were replaced after disassembling and blasting the car. The underside was sealed with epoxy primer(black) then undercoated and painted. The matching engine was completely rebuilt, after being balanced and blue printed. After assembly the engine was run in on a dyno and runs perfectly. All engine plating, nuts, bolts and screws are originals, restored. Subcontract work on the engine alone was $10K including a rebuilt distributor, rebushed and rebuilt carburetors . The crank was magna fluxed, turned, and balanced to within 1/2 gram to the turned flywheel. The heads were nice originals to start with having benefited from new guides, seats and valves . The same with the transaxle which was rebuilt by 356 expert Vic Skirmants of Warren MI. New wheel cylinders, drums turned, and brake shoes. The wheels were rechromed, the tires are new radials(Vredestein). New tie rod ends and rebuilt steering box. Aligned, etc, etc.The exterior brightwork benefited from approximately $25K in subcontract work to V Miles including: headlights (Bosch 9/12 script), the 57 only square door handles, all chrome trim and door trim(rechromed), the 1/4 windows, all knobs and switches, turn signals, front and rear, and shine up light. The gauges were redone by Palo Alto Speedometer and are date correct originals. The interior was done by Autos International and fits perfectly. The glass is new with the exception of the original rear window. The horns were rebuilt and are as new. You couldn't restore a core T1 sunroof to this level at this price. It was originally completed with the intention of keeping it, but another rare car has come along so it's time for this gem to have a new owner. Please call or email me at [email protected]'m in California at 650 208 7861. I'm available 8AM to 8PM to discuss.

Stunning 57 late T1 Sunroof with it’s original engine, restored to concours level, by marque experts. This bare metal restoration has the finest original pieces and parts back on it after restoration. It is as delivered new, and therefore runs and drives wonderfully. The Porsche Factory Kardex shows July 1957 completion. The restoration consisted of the following:- Body was disassembled, media blasted, the floor was replaced, along with longitudinals, closing panel bottoms and battery box floor. Basic, normal stuff for a 356 almost 60 years old! All metal is as new. Work was done by a marque expert. The underneath of the car was epoxy primered, coated with Wurth underseal, then painted black. The car has all the correct waffle cone patterned insulation inside the cabin, the front hood area and rear engine compartments.- The transmission was redone by Vic Skirmants. The case was prepped, new bearings and synchros with all plating redone to original. Vic has done around 3,000 of these in his life, and is considered the best choiceOriginal nuts and bolts were saved and refurbished.- The engine was rebuilt and dynoed by Ron Chuck Engineering, who has been doing these engines for 45 years. The engine features it’s correct 1600 N pistons and cylinders, which were honed and fitted. Over $10,000 was spend on outside engine machining contracting(distributor, carburetors, case, heads, rods, crankshaft, etc. All internal moving components were balanced to within a half of a gram, which is tighter tolerance than original. The end to end runout on the crankshaft is under 2 ten thousandths of an inch……so it’s straight…..and isn’t cracked…….and is balanced(along with the flywheel and pressure plate)! German Precision did all the head work, which consisted of new guides, seats, valves and re-cc’d combustion chambers so they each matched the other. The result is an extremely smooth running, perfectly balanced engine. All plating is correct and original. - The front suspension has been completely rebuilt featuring new tie rod ends, a rebuilt steering box, new shocks and steering dampener. Link and king pins were first magna fluxed, straightness checked on an original Factory jig, then carefully honed for a prefect pressed together fit. Stoddards/NLA provided all original NOS parts for this as well as the rest of the car. The car was then professionally 4 wheel aligned.- The tires are new period correct radials on newly triple chromed wheels. The entire assembly was then balanced.- The car has all new wheel bearings, brake shoes, resleeved and rebuilt wheel cylinders and master cylinder. The drums were turned. - Glass is new with the exception of the rear window, which is a very nice original. The 1/4 window frames were rechromed too. - The interior is beautiful having been fabricated by Autos International. The seat rails were all rebuilt, as well as the reclining mechanism, including rechroming. The window frames were rechromed beautifully, and at great expense. These are difficult to do properly, and were done by Christensen’s Plating in LA. The original red vinyl was upgraded to red leather, giving the car a spectacular presence coupled with it’s original black exterior, and the chrome pieces and parts on the interior and exterior. All inside and outside brightwork was done by Victor Miles of Concours Refinishing, also at great expense. A partial list includes, lights, turn signal unit, steering wheel, horn ring, rear shine up license light, 57 only odd square door handles, hood handle and all switches, levers, etc. - Palo Alto Speedometer rebuilt all the gauges which work perfectly.- A new wiring harness was supplied by Y & Z This was a reasonably straight forward restoration, as the car was a good candidate prior to disassembly. The restoration was managed by a long time restorer, and as you can see, experts were used throughout, yielding a rare car, a significant cut above the rest! This is a show caliber car that can be enjoyed and driven to club events, or wherever you’d like. It’s particularly desirable with the black exterior, red interior and the Factory Sunroof(the copy of the original Kardex shows it!). If you see this car you will be surprised at the level of restoration. No expense was spared when doing it. The car is currently located in Hickory, NC, near Charlotte, NC should you want to visit it prior to purchasing. This car is a gem! I have shipped Internationally in the past and have references if so desired. Registry member for decades! Previous restorations of mine are now in some of the most valuable collections around the world. Thank you. Vince

Oil pressure gauge was mounted on engine and showed 25 lbs at idle and 40-55 lbs when engine was revved. All prior paint on the car was stripped, and car was brought down to the metal (please see link below with photo album depicting the restoration). The closing panels are pristine and one can see the spot welds all the way up into the inside of the fenders. No undercoating was put under the fenders so that you could see how nice and clean the welds are. New installation of Stoddard floors, jack spurs and battery box. Longitudinals are original to the car. Even gaps throughout, engine lid and hood close evenly. Doors close with a nice "thunk". One person commented that they sound like a bank vault door when they are being closed. Car was color matched through a Willhoit Togo Brown color sample. Interior color was changed from black to red.
