True to the Porsche tradition of engineering excellence, from its introduction in 1948, the 356 experienced continuous improvements throughout the 17 years of its production. The 356B T6 was a fantastic model that was blessed by over 15 years of those refinements. These included upgrades in engineering, design, comfort and safety. Specific to the 356B T6 of 1963 was the Super Coupé, a model enhanced with the Super engine, powered by a 1740cc air-cooled flat-four 4 spd. manual transmission, which packed an additional 20 hp (mainly at higher rpms) than its predecessors. Other improvements included a larger windscreen and rear window, more squared front lid, gear shift lock, twin air-intake grilles on the rear engine lid, spring loaded fuel filler on the front right wing, variable speed windshield wiper system, and fresh air ventilating slits below the windshield. All of these modifications made this hardtop one of the best years for the 356 in terms of speed, handling, versatility in all weather conditions, and spacious comfort. This was not a low production model for this very reason – they were meant to be a hardy, everyday reliable driver for many to enjoy, and the consumer response was splendid. This Reutter built chassis (#123738) has been tenderly cared for and restored to its original luster with a beautiful windows-out repaint in the original Ruby Red (Code 6402). Correct Stoddard carpets are in excellent condition. Original seats have been restored in Black Leatherette. This is what we would call a Condition 3 car – Gorgeous exterior, Good interior, Excellent mechanical condition. Matching numbers engine (#705591) has been restored, thanks to a complete engine-out mechanical service completed by the last owner over the course of the last couple of years. Engine shows light, intermittent use from spectacular Sunday drives through the Indiana countryside. The 2 previous long-term owners were also fastidious in their care for this spectacular treasure. Original dash is intact and in good condition, including the factory Blaupunkt Koln radio. Radio, heat/air are not operational. This particular BECK was purchased in 2008 by a well respected car collector and used mostly at his 2nd home in Florida, although he registered it in Illinois, his home base. We take in about 3 to 5 pre-owned BECK product a year here, and our policy is to do a complete 100+ point service and inspection, with upgrades where required. This means that this BECK has been completely serviced with all fluids changed, lubrication, physical inspection of all fasteners, torque check of critical components, repair of any minor blemishes, addition or replacement of any items that we have improved upon since this build date, and much more.
