We purchased this Porsche from the 2nd owner who had the car for 2 years, before illness forced sale. This is an original Signal Red 356. We removed all interior, windows, doors, trunk, hood and engine. We then used rust protector, and sound proofing throughout. We were impressed how solid and rust free this 356 is. All floors are original, We didn't find any extensive rust. This is as solid and original 356 as you will find. The car has resided in California its whole life, and has obviously been garaged. We replaced all weatherstripping, we had all original chrome-rechromed, new carpets, recovered front seats, replaced headliner, and much much more. The engine has been rebuilt, the clutch is new, most suspension and bushing parts have been replaced. This is as nice a driving 356 as you will find. Engine purrs, transmission is smooth and correct, suspension is firm, and brakes work as they should. We have all original date stamped wheels that will come with the car. The wheels on the 356 at this time are replicas. The first owner of this car was an engineer at a Aircraft Manufacturer in Los Angeles. He drove this car back and forth to work throughout his career, making sure that all oil changes and so forth were carried out in a timely manor. We have partial service history, we also have books and tools. This is without a doubt one of the nicest T6 models available in todays market. We removed all the interior as well as the original sound proofing. All original floors, quite remarkable for a Porsche of this age. It makes the restoration much more straight forward. Getting ready for preventative rust proofing and sound proof. Going thru engine as well. Complete interior rust proofing completed. Also rust proofed under hood and rear trunk. Let it dry for a day or so and then sound proofing will begin. Gas tank removed. Took pictures of the underside before Porsche going to body shop. Back from body shop. Porsche looks great. It has been painted the original Signal Red with single stage paint. Body shop ( City Motors auto body and paint) completed an excellent repaint and color sand. We will be fitting the 356 with all new weatherstripping, and having all chrome/re-chromed. We are also fitting a new OEM style carpet kit from German Auto Tops. The front seats have been recovered and look factory, very good job by the upholsterer. Sold to the second owner in 1985 with 35,000 miles. Now showing just 70,000 miles. This 356 is fully numbers matching including the wheels. There is no visible rust or evidence of rust repairs/panel replacement. The hood is unbent and the 356 has really great gaps, glass and chrome. It is all original except for one repaint in the original Smyrna Green color done in the 80's. The interior is 100% original and has yet to be fitted with a radio. The dash is original paint and the instruments are nice and bright. The original owner's books and cover are in the glove box. This 356 has always been loved and properly maintained. Great Outlaw Candidate! 1960 356 project! Here is a 1960 Porsche 356 that is a great candidate for an outlaw. It has rust it has filler but is solid where it matters. Everything in the pictures tell the story. It has all of the trim except for the driver side rocker trim. It has two complete doors minus the window crank handles. Solid rear vent windows. It has all four seats that are good solid cores. There are both bumpers and bumper over riders. It has the front sway bar and mounts. (There is NO suspension, Steering or brake system or engine included. There is a 1960 trans case, axles with pinion gear and axle tubes. Upper and lower engine tin, the E-brake lever and lever system is complete with cable. The choke pull looks to be complete. All of the wood floor/door/quarter-panels & rear luggage compartment panel are useable but i would recommend using them for templates to cut new ones. It has a very nice Fuel tank and Fuel cap. All four engine/ trunk hinges are functional. the deck & trunk lids are solid with minimal rust and very usable. The pictures tell the story on the Shell. There is rust & filler but like the title says it is solid ware it needs to be and we have all seen the total swamped out rust buckets that are selling these days. All of the panels with white spray paint on them need repaired and on the exterior all of the black markings surround the areas that need repaired with repair panels or small local patches. Lets be honest this shell would be great for an Outlaw build using 911, modified updated VW or Modern A arm & IRS suspension. You have seen the swamp rat 356s that are being rebuilt these days. 1960 Porsche 356B 1600 Coupe The Porsche COA we have shows this car was born in the original rare Fjord Green color it still wears today. Only 2.7% of these cars wear that color. It has numbers matching engine and transmission. This car has a very rare factory map light on the dash and the current owner has added some rare badges, such as an original badge showing that a Porsche 356 in 1960 won the economy award from Mobil while driving through the German landscape. The car is not a Super but does have the factory wider Super wheels. We have quite a bit of documentation and service receipts with the car, showing that the engine was rebuilt at 101,000 miles as well as many other services. We have serviced this car as well as many other cars the current owner has. The previous owner added a 356 Carrera rear valance, grilles and exhaust to give it the Carrera look. The Porsche would remain in New York for the entirety of its life and today presents quite the remarkable find for the most discerning purist. The 356 retains original numbered trim, lenses, glass, rubbers, body panels, pans and stamped (83) front/rear latches. The list continues with details such as original Porsche crests, date coded wheels (8/63), (5/63) date coded window rails, original undercoating, leather spare tire strap and more. The cosmetics have seasoned well, showing age as expected, but capable of being enjoyed as it is. Our entire staff some of which have been concours judges have inspected the entire body carefully and we strongly believe that the paint is the original lacquer paint applied at the factory 51 years ago. There is no evidence of paint work, no evidence of accidents nor damage, or body repairs.The front luggage compartment is complete and original with liner, spare and jack assembly, while the engine bay reveals the numbers-matching "Super" powerplant, again preserved with original decals. The underside shows wear from years of normal use and we note that there are some areas of corrosion (pictured) that will need to be address but overall the floors remain intact and with the original undercoating. The car starts and runs with a healthy revving engine, its last road registration expired this year.They're only original once, and this 356 should garner quite a bit of attention among enthusiasts.
