This 1972 Pontiac GTO has been beautifully restored and well maintained. With only 3500 miles since restoration, you can see the detail that has gone into this build. The color has been changed to represent the only true color that represents The Judge of the 70's, Orbit Orange.(car Originally Brittany Beige) and the paint is a 10. This also included all of the weatherstrips throughout the car. The Original, numbers matching, engine was completely gone through only 3500 miles ago and transmission has been upgraded to a 700R4 overdrive complete with Shiftworks conversion shifter. The radiator was also upgraded for better cooling performance. Along with all of these modifications, the car has Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Air Conditioning and AM/FM/Cassette. I also have the Original Window Sticker and books. The car has always been garaged and well maintained and sits on a new set of BFG's. Up for sale is my 1970 GTO Hardtop, which is probably one of the best unrestored project GTO's remaining. Factory palladium silver with black interior. Matching numbers engine but not sure about transmission. It is a complete car minus the cross member, driveshaft, and rear sway bar which were lost while the rear axle was being rebuilt. All of which can be found or bought new since they are the same across a-body cars. I have the PHS documents for the car which state it is a fairly low optioned car: TH400, radio, hubcaps (still on car), bucket seat/console, Solar Ray glass, 14" wheels, remote mirror, clock, power steering, hd suspension. Still has manual drum brakes but I don't think it would hurt value by switching to disc. The body is in fantastic shape. The only rust on the outside is on the driver side front fender, under the rocker molding. The pass side rocker has a dent. The only rust on the interior is the driver side front floor pan. The rest of the floor is solid. Trunk is also in great shape. Lip is perfect. Lid has some light surface rust around the gasket. Driver quarter and roof skin has been replaced with one from another car (gm metal) due to dent on roof and scrape on quarter. Installer did and excellent job. Radiator support has some repairable rust on the lower driver side. Front clip is loosely bolted on the car. Nose is in good shape. 2 rear bumpers - 1 looks to be a good driver quality. The 400 YS engine is matching numbers with the correct 13 heads. It has already been rebuilt to factory spec. Original quadrajet has also been rebuilt and is the trunk with all other removed parts (right date for car). Factory boxed control arms still on rear as part of HD suspension group. Original black bucket seats with console. All dash parts appear to be present. Not 100% sure all glass trim is included/usable but also same across a-body cars and can be found or bought reproduction. All glass included asides from windshield. Driver quarter window isn't installed and in the trunk. Thanks for checking another awesome ride offered by M.E.S. Motorsports; where our cars are notorious for Making Everyone Stare! What we have for sale here is a super rare 1966 Pontiac GTO 2 door post! Less than 50,000 original miles! This is seriously one of the sweetest cars that I have ever seen! I took over 100 photos to try to show how clean and solid this car really is. Please read the full description and look at all the photos and then email with any questions. Now on to the good stuff….. History – This car belongs to the father of my brother in law. Even though I cannot take credit for building it, I jumped at the chance to help him sell it when he asked. It's not often that you see a car like this for sale. I have gone over the car pretty extensively with him and the information presented here is what he relayed to me. He is the 4th owner of this super rare, original California GTO 2 door post. He purchased the car around 10 years ago after it had been frame off restored. Pretty much every nut and bolt was replaced/restored at that time. He has always stored it in a garage and has only put about 3000 miles on during his ownership. It is a beautiful example of one of Pontiac’s greatest designs and is a multiple show winner. He has a binder full of paperwork, PHS documents and receipts that will go to the new owner. Drivetrain – Numbers Matching 389 Tri-Power (Tri-power is not original to the car) with numbers matching 2 speed Powerglide transmission. The motor is healthy and runs excellent and the car shifts great. She fires right up. Dual exhaust sounds good but is not at all obnoxious. This car cruises down the road very nicely. Exterior – The exterior of this car is truly stunning. The paint is not the original color. It’s a 70’s GM color called Phantom Blue Metallic and it is beautiful. The car was taken apart and painted and put back together in the correct way. The fitments of all panels are perfect and there is no rust that I saw. All the glass is in great shape. The original bumpers were re-chromed and all the door and window trim is in excellent condition. There is also a functional hood tach that was added as this was not an option for that year. Underneath – The underneath of this car is amazing. I saw no rust anywhere. The underneath was painted black and still looks super clean. This is the most solid, original car that I have even been under. The trunk is spotless as well. I took many photos to try to show how nice it is. Interior – The interior is no different than the rest of the car. It was all redone and still looks brand new. The seats were recovered in a black cloth as opposed to the original vinyl. The rest of the interior retains the stock features with the exception of the aftermarket steering wheel, the CD Player with speakers and the three gauge pod under the dash. This is a factory AC car (although the AC is not currently working). The dash, carpet, seats, door panels, headliner etc. all look perfect to me and show little to no signs of wear. In my opinion, the original center console is the only part of the interior that shows its age. See pic. All lights, wipers, and heat work as they should. Chassis/Suspension- The suspension parts all still look new as well and were all replaced. There are rear air shocks that can be adjusted. Power steering and power disc brakes up front make it very easy to drive. The car really does cruise down the road nicely for an almost 50 year old car! Wheel/Tires – The rims are mint condition 16” Torque Thrust II’s with GTO center caps. The tires are still like brand new and are Kuhmo Exsta’s with 225/55ZR16 up front and 255/50ZR16 in the rear. Known issues – While this is one of the nicest cars I have seen lately, no car is perfect. With that said, here are the few minor items that I see or was told about by the owner. I don’t mention these to detract from the car at all, but just want full disclosure. There are a few minor blemishes on/in the paint and I do mean minor. I tried to photograph them but only one or two would even show up. The rear bumper has a crease in it and little of the chrome is starting to peel. See pic. The factory AC is not currently functioning. It’s believed to just need a belt and some Freon. The speedometer needle is broken. The rear transmission seal drips especially when the car sits for extended periods. The owner may try to have this fixed if possible. And lastly, the car has an original radiator in it and while it does not over heat, it can run hotter on hot days. Title – Clear SC title in the owner’s possession. Other – The car is currently insured with Hagerty Insurance at a value of $75,000. The car is located in Spartanburg, SC, 29301I have done my best to describe the car honestly and accurately.
