Currently up for sale on eBay Motors is this very rare 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix featuring the factory optioned V97 option NASCAR "bubble back.” Richard Petty Enterprises built a prototype of such a vehicle in1983.It is one of only 1,200 units produced with that option. Power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a 200-4R Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. Any NASCAR and Pontiac fan will likely find this to be a great find and, recognized as, a sound investment that will only increase in value over time. The exterior was painted black by the former owner. All 2+2s were “no-option” vehicles, with a list of standard features rivaling anything offered in 1986. With the low-resistance front fascia, a huge, heavily sloped rear window, and fiberglass decklid with integral spoiler part of Pontiac's wind-tunnel-bred 2+2 package for 1986. It is fact that no major body modifications are required to make this 30-year-old car stable at any speeds. This vehicle is up for sale because I have a 1969 AMC AMX and a 1955 Chrysler 300 in various stages of restoration. It is used as a daily driver with 95,000 miles and deserves a restoration. Installed New: shocks, ball joints, plugs, cap and wires, distributor pick-up coil, alternator, ignition switch, carburetor. Recently installed 4 new tires and factory rocker panels to pass inspection. The headliner and bucket seat covers need replacement. There is minor damage to left side fender. Before motor was installed it got new updated steel intake gaskets, oil pan gasket, rear main seal, oil filter boss gasket, thermostat, elbow heater fittings, spark plugs, serpentine belts, radiator hoses, ac compressor clutch bearing, idle pulleys, rubber vacuum hoses. Supercharger has been rebuilt to factory spec. LEATHER SEATING AND REAR SPOILER OPTION WERE DELETED JUST PRIOR TO ORDER. ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUALS AND ORIGINAL KEYS GO WITH SALETHE GTP ITSELFTHE FACTORY PAINT HAS A BRILLIANT SHINE AFTER 25 YEARS WITH NO CLEARCOAT ISSUES.THE ONLY MINOR SUNFADE IS ON THE FRONT NOSE BELOW THE HOOD BUT HARD TO NOTICE. 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix - Model J ORIGINAL, NUMBERS MATCHING CAR! PONTIAC 400 CUBIC INCH MOTOR! ONLY 54,046 MILES! Up for sale is an original, numbers matching 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J in good condition with only 54,046 miles! Being sold as-is, by the owner, with a free and clear PA title. This vehicle was recently appraised in-person by a licensed technician from Auto Critic and a copy of that appraisal, including Auto Critic's description of the condition of the vehicle, is included among the pictures in this listing. Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8 with 3-Speed Automatic transmission. Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor #7041264. Exterior body, paint and trim are showing some wear due to age but the car still cleans up well and looks nice when washed and waxed. The paint appears to be non-original as some paint over-spray can be seen on various pieces of weatherstrip. The chrome has some pitting but would still look nice for a "driver car" when polished. This car is a great candidate for restoration or can simply be detailed and used as-is. This car has been in storage since 2012 but was started and run regularly until roughly one year ago due to a damaged battery cable that needs to be replaced. The positive battery cable was cut in half by an overzealous mechanic who wanted to quickly remove the battery cable heat shield that bolts to the cylinder head and runs down through the exhaust manifold. The replacement positive battery cable and heat shield have never been installed and will be included with the vehicle. This was always a strong running, powerful car that started with ease and sounded and drove great. It would not surprise me in the least if replacing the battery cable and battery, paired with some starting fluid, would get this car running again. Of course, it is possible that due to sitting for an extended period some additional work may be required. The wheel well trim has been removed by a previous owner, and three of the four pieces of trim are included in the trunk. Unfortunately the fourth piece of trim was never received and is long gone. There is some rust visible in the wheel wells, rockers and doors but it is repairable. A previous owner had some body work done (presumably for rust repair) and there are patch panels at the rear outer edge of the rear wheel wells. The patch panels are visible from the trunk and are pictured in this listing. Pick-up and/or delivery of the vehicle is the responsibility of the buyer but I am willing to assist however I can. 1989 ASC Mclaren Grand Prix Turbo Coupe. This is a very rare car, only 749 built in 1989. In 1989 Pontiac completely overhauled the Grand Prix with ASC McLaren's help, resulting in a limited series of ASC McLaren turbo coupes which carried more aggressive cladding, hood louvers, and a 205-hp edition of GM's 3.1-litre OHV V6.Here is a great old school video of MotorWeek's review of the car in 1990 with host John Davis. The video is half way down the page:'DESCRIPTION:• Car runs well and has brand new tires with less than 2000 miles on them.• No leaks at all from the motor or transmission.• Paint on the car is in great condition and is very shiny/glossy, except for a very few spots where clear coat is thinning. There is a small area on the hood where paint is coming off.• Car has the dealer installed rear spoiler, which has some paint fade as well.• Interior is in very good condition with no rips or tears in the leather. The leather has been treated with professional leather protectant to preserve it, so the leather is supple and not cracking at all.• Car was never driven in winter• A/C just recharged this week, so blowing nice and cold• Car was stored in heated garage for last 5 years...I have it out now and am driving it to enjoy it a bit before it is sold • These cars were Pontiac's first change to FWD from the legacy rear wheel drive Grand Prix's of the early to mid 80's. The most notable new features for the 1989 model year included heads-up display, ABS and an electronically controlled dash(which is known to have some intermittent problems), since this car was literally one of the first 750 cars built with this new technology. The 'low fuel' orange gas warning light comes on(even though the gas gauge itself is working normally and shows that there is plenty of fuel in the tank). Also, the ABS occasionally comes on(although the brakes work normally). These items do not affect the cars drive-ability whatsoever. Please contact me if you would like to see the car in person.
