1972 PONTIAC GTO "POST COUPE". LUCERNE BLUE, BLACK BENCH SEAT INTERIOR, 455 HO, CLOSE RATIO M-22 "ROCK CRUSHER" 4 SPEED AND 3:73 GEARED SAF-T-TRACK REAR. SEE THE PHS. THIS IS A FACTORY LEMANS "POST COUPE" WITH THE GTO OPTION. ORIGINALLY SUNDANCE ORANGE, 400 CI AND 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. FACTORY MANUAL FRONT DISC BRAKES. CONVERTED TO POWER DISC BRAKES WITH THE CORRECT DELCO POWER BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER. PONTIACS GTO REVERTED BACK TO OPTION STATUS ON THE LEMANS IN 1972. I HAVE A FOLDER 2" THICK WITH THE RECEIPTS FOR THE WORK DONE AND PARTS PURCHASED FOR THE CAR, ALSO LOTS OF PHOTOS OF THE CAR DURING THE RESTORATION. COMPLETE 4 + YEAR, NUT AND BOLT RESTORATION. JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ON THIS CAR WAS DONE / RESTORED / REBUILT / RECHROMED / POLISHED / PAINTED OR DETAILED. THE SEAT COVERS AND SEAT BELTS ARE UNRESTORED ORIGINALS. BASE COAT / CLEAR COAT THAT LOOKS DEEP AND BEAUTIFUL. NOS FULL REAR QUARTERS, NOS FRONT FENDERS AND ENDURA NOSE. THIS CAR CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH THE SIDE "SPORT STRIPES". VERY RARE, OPTIOINAL "DUCK TAIL" SPOILER ADDED DURING THE RESTORATION. FACTORY CORRECT RAM AIR AIR CLEANER, NOS UNDERHOOD PAN AND NOS RUBBER BOOTS. LOTS OF NOS PARTS WENT INTO THIS CAR. I COLLECTED NOS PARTS FOR THIS CAR FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE THE RESTORATION STARTED. IT HAS 1972 PONTIAC 455 HO, CODE WD, WITH THE CORRECT 7F6 ROUND PORT HEADS AND ROUND PORT EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, PONTIAC CLOSE RATIO M-22 "ROCK CRUSHER, MUNCIE 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND 3:73 12 BOLT SAF-T-TRACK REAR. I ADDED MANY OPTIONS TO THE CAR DURING THE RESTORATION, SUCH AS THE HOOD TACH WITH THE CORRECT VENT TO THE TACH, RALLY CLOCK, PEDASTAL MOUNT 8 TRACK PLAYER, AM/FM STEREO RADIO, NOS DELCO REAR AIR SHOCKS, NOS REAR BUMPER GUARDS, NOS DOOR EDGE GUARDS, FACTORY TINTED GLASS, NOS REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER, FORMULA STEERING WHEEL, 15" X 7" HONEYCOMD WHEELS WITH NOS TRIM RINGS AND CENTER CAPS, GOODYEAR POLYGLASS G-60-15 TIRES, NOS EXHAUST SPLITTER TIPS, NOS TRANSISTORIZED DISTRIBUTOR. THE CAR STARTS, TAKES THE HIGH IDLE, RUNS, SHIFTS, DRIVES, BRAKES AND WILL LAY RUBBER WITH EASE, JUST LIKE IT WAS 1972 AND YOU JUST PICKED UP YOUR GTO FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AGAIN EVERYTHING WAS DONE, AND DONE CORRECTLY ON THIS CAR, WITH MOSTLY NOS PONTIAC OR ORIGINAL PONTIAC PARTS. GARDNER ALUMINIZED EXHAUST SYSTEM, STAINLESS STEEL GAS TANK WITH ALL STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE AND FUEL LINES. CORRECT TOWER CLAMPS USED THROUGHOUT THE CAR. JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME IT WAS SHOWN,IT WON A TROPHY. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 600 MILES ON IT SINCE THE COMPLETION OF THE RESTORATION IN 2006. IT IS ALWAYS KEPT POLISHED, INDOORS AND UNDER A COVER. I SET THE "BUY IT NOW" PRICE TO BE COMPETITIVE. IT WILL SURELY SELL FOR LESS THAN I HAVE INTO THE CAR. THIS IS A ONE OF 160 OR SO 1971 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA 455 HO WITH RAM AIR. PHS DOCUMENTED (SEE PHOTOS) ONLY A FEW HUNDRED MILES ON THE RESTORATION FROM 2011. 2 YEAR SUBFRAME OFF RESTORATION OF A 56,000 ORIGINAL MILE CAR. THE CAR WAS RUSTFREE TO START WITH. BASE COAT / CLEAR COAT ORIGINAL CANYON COPPER COLOR. REDONE PUI, DELUXE BLACK INTERIOR. THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT AND IS A CORRECT 1971 455 HO BLOCK, HEADS, INTAKE, DISTRIBUTOR, WATERPUMP, PULLEYS, ALTERNATOR AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL MOTOR THAT CAME WITH THE CAR. THE TRANS IS A REBUILT MUNCIE CLOSE RATIO 4 SPEED, NOT ORIGINAL TO THE CAR. THE REAR IS A 3:73 12 BOLT. THE CARBURATOR IS AN 800 CFM ROCHESTER. EVERYTHING WAS GONE THROUGH ON THE CAR DURING RESTORATION....BRAKES, COOLING SYSTEM, LINES, ELECTRICAL, GAUGES, NEW GARDNER EXHAUST WITH CHROME TIPS, ETC. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WAS LEFT PRETTY MUCH ORIGINAL, JUST CLEANED UP WITH A LITTLE BIT OF DETAIL ON THE SUSPENSION, SWAY BARS, GAS TANK, ETC. THE MOTOR COMPARTMENT WAS PAINTED AND DETAILED WITH CORRECT COLORS. THE SPORT STRIPES WERE ADDED, REAR CONSOLE ADDED (YES IT'S REAL) LOTS OF NOS PARTS WENT INTO THE CAR. THOSE PARTS ARE PROBABLY NOT AVAILABLE TODAY AS NOS. THE PAINT SHINES LIKE NEW. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED, KEPT POLISHED AND UNDER A COVER. IT STARTS, DRIVES, BRAKES, SHIFTS AND RUNS LIKE IT SHOULD WITH NO KNOWN ISSUES OR LEAKS. A COUPLE OF THINGS COME TO MIND TO MAKE POTENTIAL BUYERS AWARE OF ARE, THE GLASS IS ORIGINAL TINTED AND HAS A COUPLE OF SCRATCHES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR GLASS. THE VAPOR CANISTER HAS NOT BEEN HOOKED UP TO THE RETURN LINE FROM THE GAS TANK OR TO THE CARB. THERE IS A 3/4" CRACK AT THE FRONT OF THE HOOD RIGHT NEXT TO THE SCOOP (SEE PICTURE) IT IS THE FACTORY FIBERGLASS RAM AIR HOOD. THE CAR DRAWS ATTENTION ANY TIME IT IS TAKEN ON THE STREETS. THE COLOR IS STUNNING IN THE SUNLIGHT. IT HAS TREMENDOUS TORQUE AND WILL EASILY LIGHT UP THE TIRES. IT HAS RESTORED 15" X 7" RALLY 2'S, NOS TRIM RINGS AND CAPS WITH THE CORRECT FIRESTONE REPRODUCTION F-60-15 TIRES. VIRTUALLY NO MILES ON THE TIRES.
