1979 Pontiac Trans AM WS-6 T-Top 10th Year Anniversary. It is a preserved matching numbers Trans AM. This vehicle comes with the original build sheet as well. The under carriage is rust free.. This vehicle is only 1 of 5,683 produced with the 403 Motor and Automatic Transmission. Below is some information on this specific vehicle Specifics on this car are as follows . There is NO rust on this vehicle and never has had any. The mileage IS original at just over 25,000, I'am the second owner and owned it since 1983, It is all original including the paint!!! Over the years I have changed a couple of things. There is a set of BlackJack Headers, Flowmaster mufflers, a true dual exhaust, It sounds deep, throaty, Not obnoxious! I have the original catalytic converter, exhaust manifolds and some of the piping. I put on Trans Am wheels circa 86-87?, the tires are almost brand new Goodyear Eagle P245/50/16 series, they give it a better stance. less than 200 miles. and yes I have the original turbo wheels and center caps that come with the car. I also switched out the radio for a corvette am/fm cb, it was fun at the time... Again the paint is original including the hood Bird emblem. I have never beat this car raced it or anything along those lines, no body damaged ever to be repaired. What it does need, flex pipe between the intake inside the fender to the air cleaner, and the front black plastic grills, both of which have just disintegrated over time, It does have a couple door dings here and there but you have to look for them. please keep in mind this car is a 36 years old and it is a survivor!!!!! It has been garaged with a cover. The motor runs and sounds great. NO leaks.... In 1979, Pontiac Released the 10th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the first Trans Am that rolled off the line in 1969 Standard on the 10th Anniversary was the two-tone silver and charcoal paint. This paint scheme was accented by a special 5 color hood-bird which wings extended over the hood and onto the side fenders. The body of the car was also outlined in a special black and red stripe package much like the "Special Edition" striping of the earlier Special Edition Trans Ams. There were also special badges (decals) that were placed on the car signifying the 10th Anniversary Edition. All of the 10th Anniversary cars were nicely equipped with the WS6 handling package, custom silver interior with "shag" carpet and the Firebird emblem embroidered in the door panels and also in the rear seat back. Also standard on all 10th Anniversary Trans Ams were power windows, power locks, Air Conditioning, power trunk release.... in sort, pretty much every option available at the time. Also, the interior was also trimmed with a special "Engine-turned" gear shift bezel that went nicely with the dash, which for this model was illuminated red instead of the normal white gauges. You really can't tell in the day, but at night it gives a whole new feel and look to the inside. The T-tops were also a special mirrored finish instead of the drab "smoked" finish of T-tops seen previously. The 10th Anniversary Trans Am was also the first time you saw the "Turbo" wheels seen on later Special Edition Turbo, Pace Car, and other Turbo Trans Ams. All-in-All, this wasn't your ordinary "run-of-the-mill" Trans Am. Just about everything on this car was taken to the next level to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this popular Musclecar. Unlike Special Edition Trans Ams of the past, this car could easily be identified by using the VIN number as a reference. Instead of the normal "S" or "W" to signify Firebird or Trans Am, the 10th Anniversary had a "X" as the second digit in the VIN number to signify it is Special. The 1979 Pontiac 10th Anniversary Trans Am was another commemorative Firebird, this one marking the first decade of Pontiac's still-successful Pony car. The 10th Anniversary Trans Am was officially priced at around $10,600, but the announced low production and the model's perceived historical significance created a rash of speculation (classified ads appeared shortly after introduction listing $30,000 asking prices). Equipped with power everything, it also featured a distinctive silver and charcoal paint treatment, T-bar roof with silver-tint glass hatches, silver interior with leather upholstery, the heavy-duty WS-6 handling package, and "Turbo Alloy" wheels designed by John Schinella and made by Appliance. The Tenth Anniversary Trans Am (TATA) came with the Oldsmobile built 403 V-8. Pluses of the 1979 Pontiac 10th Anniversary Trans Am: Fine Performance Looks still turn heads, Low production appeal, Super handling Specifications of the 1979 Pontiac 10th Anniversary Trans Am: Wheelbase, inches: 108.2 Length, inches: 196.8 Don't hesitate with questions...
