1978 Pontiac Trans Am Y88 SE Gold Special edition: This is a project car that I found some years back, and since I seem to have too many projects, it's a good time for this one to go. This TA will run, drive and stop, but since it's been sitting for approximately 15 years, I would not recommend doing much driving in it until it's been checked out. Last title showed 57324 miles, speedometer currently shows 86197. I have the original build sheet, and the last/current Georgia title issued back in 1983. The car is a real Y88 with the desirable WS6 suspension as indicated by the build sheet. The 78 only gold WS6 8 inch wheels are all on the car, as well as the correct early center caps. All WS6 parts appear to be present. This car needs to be restored, floors are bad (did not look that bad until carpet was removed) trunk floor is also rusty (due to a trunk mounted battery that has been relocated back to the front) sub frame is good, rear frame rails are good, lower tail panel is nice, inner quarters are nice, body really only needs a few common rust areas patched. Outside lights all work, brake lights and turn signals work, dash gauges work (tach sticks) tilt wheel is tight, gold steering wheel still decent, gold dash still present, but faded, gold horn button and shifter button present, gold tinted t tops are nice, dash pad is decent, all the seats, trim console, are present, but it will need the interior restored. Engine is a Pontiac 400 that someone has added headers to, trans is a T350 automatic, rear axle is a posi. Since I have had it, in order to make it run and move under its own power, I have replaced the front calipers, pads, and hoses, and replaced the rear wheel cylinders. Brakes feel fine, but rears do stick occasionally. I have changed the engine oil, and put in fresh antifreeze. I also had to replace the fuel pump and several rubber fuel lines, have drained the gas tank and added fresh fuel. Carb still acts a little funny, but I have not taken it apart yet, and it probably just needs to be cleaned out, but it starts pretty easily and is easy to move around. Inspection is available by appointment, email with any questions, Thanks!
