This is an awesome 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 361 CI Big Block engine with a push button 727 automatic. The car runs and drives well for its age. This is a classy convertible with plenty of room for friends to come along. The good: It has new headers and dual exhaust with flow masters to help the Big Block breath and sounds great. It has new wheels and tires to get you where your going. The fuel tank and sender has been replaced. I replaced the lower ball joints and it really helped the feel. The floor pans in the passenger compartment have been replaced, they are new. The rear quarter panels have been replaced below the trim with new. Front fenders have patch panels welded in at the bottom behind the front tires. All this is in white primer and near ready for paint. The bad: The trunk pan needs to be replaced. There is a little rust in the engine bay area and a little on the cowl where the front fender attaches that needs attention at time of paint. The top works manually due to some pieces missing for the auto operation (probably got pulled out for repair and never re-installed). The trim across the back of the trunk is missing. Overall this is a great candidate for restoration and years of cruising. Look around at car shows, you won't see many if any. This is a running and driving restoration project and it all needs attention. This is not a restored car, but is a driver. Any questions will be answered as quickly as possible and posted. Atlas Muscle Cars is offering up for sale this Black 1964 Sport Fury project, it comes with 99% of its trim pieces, a rebuilt 426 Street Wedge / Max Wedge engine, intake and carburetors, the original auto transmission, the side glass is in very nice shape and they are power, the body on the car is super solid and straight, car was painted about a year ago and still looks as good as it did when it came out of the paint booth. The paint has not been wet sanded or buffed yet so you can work on the car with out worrying about scuffing the clear. As you can see from the pictures the floors are almost perfect, the bumpers have been re-chromed and are ready to install. Taking a full-sized hardtop like this 1966 Plymouth Fury III and dropping a big block V8 under the hood makes for entertaining performance, and the industrial-strength look and two-tone paint leave no question that this is a car built for speed. Bronze was a popular color in the '60s and the full-sized cars like this Fury hardtop seem to wear it best. Of course, the blacked-out hood and matching vinyl top give it a two-tone look that's very effective, and even for a car that's meant to go fast, this one has a very polished look. The paint is in good shape, showing a deep shine that comes from modern materials, and if you're used to seeing dusty-looking vintage enamel on these cars, this one will come as a very pleasant surprise. The Fury was in the middle of the lineup, and wears the cool cantilevered roof line that defined Chrysler styling in the '60s, so it has a familial resemblance but stands out in a crowd. Tidy panel gaps, nice detailing along the lower edges of the body, and, of course, the giant hood scoop all give this car a very dramatic look that whispers performance without being too overt about it. The chrome and stainless trim is quite nice and the vinyl top fits well and doesn't seem to be hiding any nasty surprises underneath. The black vinyl interior is all business, and with a bench seat you know the original buyer's priorities were horsepower, not style. The seat covers are obviously new, with contrasting bronze piping on the seat backs to match the bodywork and new carpets on the floors. The door panels might just be original, and they're in good condition save for the arm rests which are showing their age today. There's also an aftermarket steering wheel, but it blends in nicely with the black interior. Factory gauges flank a cool rectangular speedometer pod and a full set of white-faced Sunpro dials were neatly installed in the dash under the Sony AM/FM/CD stereo. There's also a tach mounted up high by the A-pillar so it's easy to spot. The rear bench is in excellent condition, and again uses bronze piping for some extra style points, and the gargantuan trunk is functional if not fully detailed. The 383 cubic inch V8 makes the kind of fat torque that makes even a big car like this feel fast. It starts easily and idles with a healthy lope that suggests horsepower, not luxury, and it's very cleanly detailed. There's Hemi Orange paint on the block itself, which is topped by a set of finned Mopar Performance valve covers and a matching air cleaner. A Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Weiand aluminum intake manifold handle intake duties, and a set of long-tube headers dump into a Flowmaster exhaust system with tips just ahead of the rear tires. You know it's built for combat with the extra deep groove large-diameter pulleys on the accessory drive and there's a big aluminum radiator up front. The transmission is a bulletproof 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic feeding an 8.75-inch rear end, so the driveline is a known quantity that's ready to play. It's undercoated, so it's not all shiny and perfect, and the stance is perfect with just a bit of rake. It's had just two owners from new, including the first owner who literally used it only for parades. If you like authenticity and a great story, this Fury definitely delivers. Actually, the original owner drove it for a few years before putting it away, but it's not like it was stuffed into some barn and forgotten. No, it received proper maintenance twice a year while in storage and it did indeed come out for the 4th of July parade each year. It finally changed hands last year and got a cosmetic freshening that includes brand new paint in the original Daffodil Yellow. Chrysler's way-out styling had been toned down a bit by 1966 and it carries the stacked headlights that were then in vogue, and as you'd expect from a car that was cherished and protected like this one, the bodywork is in outstanding condition. The big ragtop looks superb today, offering a great gloss that suits it just fine and with the straight stainless trim along its flanks, it does look about a city block long. Nice bumpers accent the soft yellow paint and all the original badges and "PLYMOUTH" block letters are still in place. The black vinyl interior is original and confirms the car's amazing history because it's in fantastic condition. The wide bench seats are ideal for parade duty and the black contrasts smartly with the light yellow paint, which is a big part of the car's appeal. The carpets are so nice it's hard to believe they're nearly 50 years old and the dash pad and door panels haven't been cooked by the sun and look quite good. The factory gauges were probably inspired by the wonderful and wild Imperial instrument panel, with a big trapezoidal speedometer with auxiliary gauges to either side and switches underneath. An AM radio still lives in the dash and works correctly, although the fuel gauge does not. But beyond that, the car is ready to enjoy and presents in remarkable condition. The black power top is original and aside from some very minor shrinkage, is exceptionally nice and the trunk is outfitted with a correct mat and full-sized spare. Big block torque is there to carry this handsome convertible in the form of a 383 cubic inch V8. As I said, it was regularly maintained even while in storage, but since its recent rejuvenation, it has been comprehensively serviced so it's ready to go. New equipment includes a fuel pump, belts, hoses, a new brake booster and master cylinder, plus oil and a radiator flush, and combined with the relatively low mileage, it remains a strong runner. The factory air cleaner and valve covers might have been repainted at some point, but then again, it really is a nice survivor and they could be original. The TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission shifts like it should, just firm enough so you can feel it, and the new Flowmaster dual exhaust system gives it an authoritative voice. Factory wheels and wheel covers are still in place, and it rides on a recent set of 215/75/14 whitewall radials the offer a correct look. Documented with the original owner's manual and CertiCard on the radiator support, this lovely ragtop offers the best of both worlds: an honest survivor with a recent facelift to make it a fantastic summer cruiser.
