INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTIONYou are viewing my 1979 Plymouth Volare ex-Suffolk County New York Sheriff Department pursuit-class police car. It still has its original, VIN-matching 360-HP *(HP means "High Performance") V8 engine (RPO code "E58", "L" Code in VIN, the pursuit-class police engine offering) with four-barrel carburetor, heavy-duty 727 three-speed automatic transmission (replaced in the past) (code "D36") and 3.21:1 Sure-Grip (code "D91") rear axle. This vehicle has 135,000 miles (believed to be actual but this cannot be confirmed) and was delivered to Silver Chrysler Plymouth in Port Jefferson NY in July 1979 at a retail delivery price of $8,086.45. The last 25 years of ownership is known: me and person I bought it from who had it since 1990. Photos are from May 2015. “Yes”, there were F-Body Mopar squads, and “Yes” they are rare to see nowadays. I do not know how many police versions were built or how many remain. The Dodge Aspen and the Plymouth Volare models ran from 1977 through 1980 model years, giving way to the M-body Diplomat and Gran Fury. When the 440 cubic inch "big-block" pursuit rigs (B-body Monaco and Fury) went away after 1978, the F-bodies were actually the quickest (0-60 mph, 0-100 mph) Mopar squads in 1979...even quicker (not faster top-speed though) than the pursuit-class E86 440's from just the year before. This Volare is fairly well equipped (see factory fender tags removed so they can be read, see invoice copy - i do not have the original - in last picture). First the other relevant police codes are "A38" = Police Package (the big brakes, the anti-sway bars, 120-mph "Certified" Police speedometer, etc.), "K" = Police Grade Interior and Order code prefix, "C83" = Heavy Duty rear seats, "F58" = Reinforced Body Welds, "F66" = A/C Cut-Off switch (unknown condition), "F88" = Engine Oil Cooler, "N41" = Dual Exhaust, "N75" Auxilliary Oil Cooler, and "Y39" = Special Order. Other key options: "H51" = Air Conditioning (intact, does not blow cold), "G01" = Rear Defroster (condition unknown), "G11" = Tinted Glass. The vehicle runs and drives fine, but it is has a “police car” feel (very stiff suspension) if you've never driven one. All routine maintenance (brakes, fluids, belts, etc.) is current. I have rebuilt the original Thermo-Quad twice in past 10 years so if driving around the country is your objective, you might consider a more reliable aftermarket brand. The "Lean Burn" System is still operating. All electrical systems/instumentation work fine except the police dome light. There is no police electrical emergency equipment in the vehicle. There is a rubber plug in the roof where light bar wiring was placed. The "true" dual exhaust configuration (no catalytic converters) is still in place and has been recently replaced. Two tailpipes, exiting on passenger side, were used as the "oversized", original OEM single tailpipe/resonator assembly could not be located. The tires are 215/70-15 Eagle GT-4 high performance radials with excellent tread remaining. The 15x7 police-spec wheels are original and have been refinished. The dog dishes are original and in driver quality. In 2013, I had the entire vehicle professionally refinished in its original “Spinnaker White” exterior color (it came from the factory with "V02" which means "two-tone" per whatever the Suffolk County specifications were). During the refinishing, we noted that there was no evidence any previous, major collision damage. We did repair assorted dings/scratches There are properly executed metal repairs in the floor pan (we did this to preserve the body weld reinforcements unique to police cars), repairs inside lower front doors on both sides, but beyond that everything else is solid, original metal. The chrome/stainless trim is in good condition and overall is consistent with a vehicle of this age. The bumpers are in driver-quality condition and are showing some dulling (rear bumper in particular) and other age-related imperfections. The bumper extension on passenger side has a noticeable defect. There is a six-inch crack in the windshield (may require replacement if your state performs safety inspections on vehicles of this age). The driver front door weather seal and light switch in jamb is missing. The passenger side rear door rear edge chrome piece is missing. The interior is in very good original condition (including the headliner). Dash is straight with very minor cracks on holes where police microphone mounted. The RPO tag says "Bench Seat", but the buckets was how it was when I bought it. The OEM radio is an AM/CB model (no CB antenna) from this era and operates fine. The seats show wear consistent with their age but are otherwise pliable and without rips/tears (brownish colors are from dust). The rubber floor is original as well and in good condition (the driver side floor is just muddy). This 1979 Plymouth Volare is a genuine Mopar police pursuit-class F-body. There are some well-done F-body cop "clones" around, and of course some real nice true A38 cars too. But, you know you aren't going to see too many of the ones that actually did law enforcement work that are still in existence. This rare, rare vintage Mopar F-body squad has been my privilege to take care of and improve upon for while. So as always I sure hope this Volare police pursuit vehicle finds a good home, is kept intact, and preserved by other caretakers for another 36+ years. AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONSI have established a Buy-it-Now Price and taking reasonable offers for this 1979 Plymouth Volare Police car. Note that I reserve the right to end this listing at any time at my sole discretion prior to a sale or prior to the scheduled listing duration. Please note that NO offers (except the Buy-it-Now price of course) are automatically accepted. However, unreasonably low offers will be instantly rejected - there is no sense in wasting our time trying work out a deal when our price expectations are very, very far apart. Here's how these "fixed price/make Best Offer" listings work (see Ebay Help section for detailed info) for anyone who hasn't done this before: If buyer's offer exceeds a minimum threshold (this is NOT a "reserve" price) established by the seller, it will go to the seller for review. Then seller has the option to accept, reject, or counter it. If countered by the seller, buyer has the option to accept or reject the seller's counter offer. Acceptance commits both buyers and sellers to the terms of the particular accepted offer.Note that offers or counter offers to which there is no response by buyer and/or seller will expire without obligation after 48 hours, or until listing ends whichever is eariler. So until acted upon by buyer or seller, or until offer expiration, offers remain valid and binding on buyers/sellers for up to 48 hours. Encountering non-paying or unresponsive bidders is a very disruptive event that makes the auction experience unpleasant for both the seller and any legitimate potential buyer(s). Please BE SURE BEFORE YOU MAKE A PURCHASE DECISION, especially if you use the Buy-it-Now option, that you have done whatever you need to do to STAND BEHIND the actual OFFER(s) YOU MADE and were recorded during the auction. INSPECTION AND WARRANTY INFORMATIONPlease ask any questions that you may have that may not have been answered by this detailed listing narrative and visual media attachments. My listings are constructed in complete sentences in order to communicate my knowledge of important facts and to encourage independent thoughts and then any questions from interested parties. But respectfully, I do not know what is important to you that may not have been discussed or depicted herein unless you ask me. Any and all relevant and appropriate questions you submit while the auction is running will be answered promptly and as thoroughly as possible by email only to ensure clarity of any correspondences. Given that this is a used police vehicle, please do not have unreasonable expectations as to its current condition or future condition under your ownership. Also given its obvious age, this vehicle represents whatever standards of quality and workmanship that existed when it was built, so comparisons to improved build standards of today's vehicles is not appropriate.Your bid forms the basis for a binding, legally enforceable contract. As such, if you require it, please make all pre-purchase inspections (at the sole expense of the bidder) before committing to purchase the vehicle. Inspections can be done by appointment only by you or your designated inspection service.Although I believe I have described and depicted (with numerous high-resolution photographs) this vehicle accurately, please note that this vehicle is sold "as-is, where-is” with no express or implied warranties or guarantees of any kind. PAYMENT AND STORAGEA $1,000 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle. I will not be accepting trades. Full payment is due within 3 days of auction end via cash, bank-to-bank or wire transfer, or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank). Clear title in my name is in hand and vehicle can be scheduled for buyer pickup by appointment at anytime after full payment is received and cleared. I can hold the vehicle in indoor storage for 15 days (or longer, if weather or other uncontrollable factors emerge) at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days).Thank you for viewing my auction.

INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTIONYou are viewing my 1968 Plymouth Fury III Hardtop Coupe. The original color is Medium Gold Metallic (JJ1). It was originally equipped with a 318-V8 engine and was built without air conditioning or power brakes (drums all around). The rear end is the standard (open) 8.75 inch setup with a 2.76:1 ratio. This Fury is being sold without an engine, transmission, or drive shaft as a rolling "project" vehicle. The original 318 was worn-out (I do not have it anymore) so my goal was to go with a modified (340 or 360) powertrain. The engine in it now is a rebuilt 1968 340, with "X" heads, mated to a rebuilt 727 transmission that I am going to use for another project.I bought this car from Georgia in 2001 where it had spent its entire life to my knowledge. I have the original Certicard and owner's manual showing vehicle delivered for $3,387.00 in College Park Georgia on November 22, 1967, The body is largely rust-free. A lot of the orangish-color underside is from the red dirt of Georgia so please note this. This Fury has been in indoor storage since I bought it and hasn't been driven since 2002 when we removed the engine. As shown, there is rust-through in the lower quarters behind the rear wheels (below the lower body line), and surface scale in several places otherwise. The trunk pan is getting thin in a few areas but has not rusted through except in the passenger side wheel well (a 2 inch hole where trunk pan intersects the "hump"). The sub-frame rails and floor pans are in exceptional rust-free condition (additional photos available upon request). There are obvious and assorted dings/creases in the body sheet-metal as depicted that a skilled body person should be able to address. The original interior has significant age and wear-related issues with the door panels, dash pad, and carpeting. The original headliner was replaced by the prior owner with a non-compliant piece. The steering wheel has minor cracking. The windshield requires replacement but the remaining glass is good. Bumpers and trim are still intact and in fair to good condition. The later-years' steel road wheels (and tires) shown DO NOT come with the vehicle and will be sold separately after the vehicle is sold. I will put 15-inch steel wheels (Mopar-brand but not correct for this car) and beater tires on this Fury for easier transport. This Fury III is a reasonable candidate for completion into at least a nice daily driver. Your goals are of course dependent on your own objectives for it (restore, harvest for needed parts, etc.,) but I hope this Fury finds a place where it gets back on the road. AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONSI have established a reasonable price for this 1968 Plymouth Fury III hardtop Coupe rolling project vehicle. Note that I reserve the right to end this auction at any time at my sole discretion. No offers are automatically accepted. Unreasonable offers will be automatically rejected. Only the Buy it Now option, or an accepted offer commits you to purchase, and me to sell, the vehicle.Encountering non-paying or unresponsive bidders is a very disruptive event that makes the auction experience unpleasant for both the seller and any legitimate potential buyer(s). Please BE SURE BEFORE YOU BID that you have done whatever you need to do to STAND BEHIND the actual bid(s) YOU MADE and were recorded during the auction. BIDDER ELIGIBILITYBidders with less than 5 (five) feedback ratings may, at my discretion have their bids canceled/offer rejected and then blocked from further bidding on this auction unless they contact me in advance of bidding.
