1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda. Whether engaged in a bench racing session with fellow enthusiasts or pouring over a fender tag,dog eared red book in hand,numbers mean so much,in so many ways, in the world of muscle cars. Here are some interesting figures to consider: Out of 55,499 Barracudas produced in 1970,only 18,880 were of the performance,'Cuda-designated variety, only 652 of which were hardtops equipped with the mighty 426 HEMI. Of course, only 284 came equipped with a four speed manual transmission. And finally, only 11 Four speed Hemi Cudas are known to exist combining Rallye Red paint with Red interior. Bought the car a year ago to keep busy, 6000 ODOM, put about 1500 miles on it, unfortunately, my father has recently passed and he willed a car to me, therefore, I can only keep one, regretfully, the Cuda has to go, but not giving it away, I built this car for me so whoever buys it, will be getting a dependable, FAST, fun driving, head turning 51 year old Hot Rod that had a lot of work put into it unfortunately only attracts 60 year old men lol… A list of work that has I have done; Engine: 1970 340 4 bbl new 600 CFM Edelbrock carb w/electric choke, intake manifold gaskets, MSD ignition not even 500 miles on it, new motor mounts, solid state voltage regulator (still have mechanical in box) 500 miles on Mobile 1 10W30 Transmission: A833 4 speed, synthetic 80W90 oil, new mount, pulled shaft checked and greased u joints all okRear: 8 ¾ 741 casting non posi 3.23:1, axles pulled, bearings checked, re packed, new seals they were leaking. New synthetic 80W90 oil. Suspension: all ok, put 4” shackles in rear to end use of air shocks, shocks are still in but only 10-20 psi did not replace fronts yet but have new ones in the box will come with the car.Brakes: all new/rebuilt, rotors, drums, linings, wheel cylinders, calipers, spring kits, hoses, master (for 1975 Volare non power disc) all lug nuts/studs changed over to right hand threads, new lug nuts, Steering: all new tie rods, idler, pitman arm, gearbox reseal, lower column bearing\seal. Interior: installed tach, gauges, floor mats, Sirius radio mount, stereo, front pioneer speakers put in stock opening, removed door panels lubed all regulators, had the door locks repaired 2 keys does all with spares. Ignition and doors match, trunk on its own including a hide a key set. Seat extender for the driver’s seat (people were short in the sixties?) The pictures of the interior speak for themselves.Body: Car is an original 8 cylinder body and K frame was bought with a 273 was probably an automatic or came with a factory 3 speed because the floor was cut and covered to accommodate the linkage for the 4 speed not a bad job. There is no rust on the floor boards, trunk, spare pocket, spring shackle mounts, anywhere that is why I bought the car I bought it from Illinois, I think it came from mid-west. Exterior: the pictures speak for themselves, was it just on OVERHAULIN? No. The car was restored probably in the mid to late 90’s and no question, has been garaged. The only time it saw a little water was while being shipped to me it sits in my garage with a cover that’s why it has to go, would be a sin to let this sleep outside. This auction is for a factory original 1 of 28 1970 440-4bbl automatic Cuda convertibles. It currently has a pistal grip hemi 4spd in it, but comes with the factory original automatic transmission. The car is a dependable cruise night car that has older body and paint work from the late seventies or early eighties. Not a show car, but a fun, strong running original and rare car you can still drive and not worry about that looks good. It does not have the original motor, but does have a warranty replacement motor. The shaker hood and rear luggage rack are the only options added to this car that are not on the broadcast sheet. This car is the only 4:10 Dana automatic "U" code automatic Cuda convertible original from Plymouth. The other 27 "U" code Cuda convertibles ALL had the smaller 8-3/4 rear ends. I have the original Broadcast sheet and some original dealership paperwork including the original dealership, salesman, and buyer info and when they bought and picked up the car. Below are options that came on the car and are documented on the factory broadcast sheet: -440-4BBL H.P. motor, with console automatic transmission. -4:10 Dana -15" x 7" rally rims -Dual chrome racing mirrors -FY1 Lemon twist paint,black vinyl bucket interior,black convertible top,Black hockey stick stripe. -power steering,power disc brakes,power convertible top. -light package -rimblow steering wheel -rally gages -am radio -wheel lip moldings, cuda tail panel chrome and lower rocker panel lovered moldings -dual exhaust with chrome tips -tinted glass,windshield and side windows with rear glass window. -Roadlamps As stated, this is not a show car,and at some point probably back in the late seventies/eighties when the car was painted. It appears to have suffered some front end damage and the inner fenders were replaced with NOS inner fenders and some work done to the passenger side firewall around the blower motor. The vin # still shows where stamped from the factory on the top of the cowl as well as on the front upper rad. support. The car does run and drive VERY well and is very fast, nothing like 4:10 gears to wakeup any car! I put over 1500 miles on it this past summer....mostly 25-50 miles at a time. I do have a very clean correct 1970 dual scoop rally hood that would go with the car. I am open to original 340 "H"code 1970 and 71 Cuda convertibles on trade (4spd preferred) Minimum of an original fender tag,but broadcast sheet is preferred. Exterior is FE5 Rallye Red with Black Convertible Top. 426 Hemi engine has 1-19-70 or 1-29-70 date code on block. Can't remember and starter has it covered.Was a replacement engine in 1971 and is "UNSTAMPED" Yes block is unstamped. Bought this engine complete from top of carbs to bottom of oil pan. As much as I hate to, my wife says sell it. So here goes. 1970 HEMI CUDA 4-SPEED CONVERTIBLE. RED on RED. Started as a 318 Barracuda Convertible. Red interior Convertible from factory. Exterior is FE5 Rallye Red with Black Convertible Top. 426 Hemi engine has 1-19-70 or 1-29-70 date code on block. Can't remember and starter has it covered.Was a replacement engine in 1971 and is "unstamped" Yes an unstamped block. Bought this engine complete from top of carbs to bottom of oil pan. Engine has been completely rebuilt with the very best parts available. Carbs were restored by Larry Shepard. Power steering sector and pump restored by Steer and Gear. 833 Hemi 4-speed Transmission rebuilt by Passion Performance. Dana 60 Super Track Pak rear end is spotless inside and out. New Super Stock rear springs. Correct hemi torsion bars. Rallye Gauges with latest electronics. NOS 3speed wiper switch installed in switch cluster. All gauges restored by Dash-Works. Rim Blow Steering Wheel along with a RED Fish Cap. Tough to come by. Weld in frame connectors installed and moulded in. Looks factory. Car is as correct as any recreation car on this planet. Body is laser straight. 15x 7 Rallye wheels on front and 15x8 Rallye Wheels on rear to allow tires to flatten out more for better traction. Light package, dual sport painted race mirrors, Eeastomeric bumpers front and rear. Shaker hood, tinted glass, nos space saver tire. am/fm radio. Turn radio on once it goes to am, turn on twice it goes to fm. Pretty cool and plays great. Power Convertible Top. Under side of car looks as good as the outside. Engine runs strong and sounds great. YEP I spent 14 years of my spare time doing this car. A must see to really appreciate this very much sought after muscle car.
