History The Boss 5.4 was produced in limited numbers by L.A. West, an Indiana-based conversion company, in 2002 and 2003. This modified F-150 was sold through Ford dealers. Each Boss 5.4 had a numbered interior plate and a certificate of authenticity. Specific Modifications The Boss 5.4 is an appearance package that includes body cladding, louvered fenders, a simulated carbon-fiber "cowl induction" hood, a unique grille and 20-inch wheels. It was available on regular-cab and crew-cab F-150s. The most common color is a bright yellow which was not a part of Ford's color palette at the time. Engine The Boss 5.4 kit was installed on trucks equipped with Ford's 5.4-liter SOHC V8. This engine is a two-valve per cylinder powerplant that produces 260 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 350 pound-feet of torque. A cat-back dual exhaust is the only upgrade to the running gear, though some Boss 5.4 trucks reportedly have superchargers. Ford did produce a supercharged version of the 5.4-liter V8 in 2003, with 340 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 425 lb-ft of torque. Suspension Unlike the Lightning, the Boss' suspension underpinnings are shared with the standard F-150, so the Boss 5.4 is equipped with an unequal-length control arm suspension in the front and a live axle at the rear. First off let me start by saying how much I love this truck. I have owned a couple diesels and work with quite a few at my job. This one seems to get the best mileage, pulls the best, drives the best out of them all. I am changing jobs and no longer will be doing deliveries so this 1 ton needs to go. I am interested in doing a trade if you have a small single cab or extended cab pickup like an S10, Dakota, something with a v6 or v8 and a bed. I am open to offers let me know what you are thinking. Truck has dings and dents please look at picture nothing major, the original owner did a cheap block lift that makes the leaf springs rattle anytime you hit a bump, truck has always had oil changes done 5k miles hence why it runs so beautifully, truck never misses a beat miles are a lot of highway, truck was owned by a company locally in my city and then sold to me. Interior is perfect other than the passenger side rear door is unresponsive both speaker, lock and window i haven't had time to look at it. Things the truck needs-Tires which I am including some tires great condition with 75% LEFT ON THEM as well as the wheels to go with them for the truck-Passenger rear door needs either a fuse or something the whole door is unresponsive speaker, window, and door lock.-Exhaust system(the exhaust has been cut off from the catalytic converter to save on fuel never got around to fabbing up a straight pipe for it) included is the stock piping I cut off with a single cut so easy to weld back on if need be or order a straight pipe for it for $275 from flowmaster.-Thats it!
