Here is a bit of the truck’s history. My father owned the truck for approximately 35 years. My Dad was a partner in a company that made crates for produce. The company was located on Diesel Street in Oakland. The truck for many years had a flat bed. It was a working vehicle to lettuce growers in Dinuba. The owner of the truck was a farmer that owed my Dad money, couldn't pay him so he turned over the truck in compensation. In later years, when the truck was used for city driving, my Dad retrofitted the flat bed with wood rails. When my Dad closed the company, he then worked in San Francisco at my Uncles restaurant. My Dad drove the truck every day to San Francisco. It became iconic as it was parked front in center on Stockton Street in North Beach everyday. In fact, a restaurant patron who was a commercial photographer used the truck in a Double mint gum commercial. I often thought I could market the truck to be rented by studios in LA for film, I never got around to doing that! When my Dad retired, I took the truck. I am emotionally attached to it, I can remember my Dad and I driving around in it from when I was a little girl. I did a full blown restoration, in and out to stock original. I had the entire truck bed blasted down to the metal and had all rust spots repaired and painted in and out. I replaced the flatbed with the traditional steel bucket bed with an Oak liner. (You can get fiberglass kits, I opted for steel) I replaced all the windows, including the windshield and side view mirrors. I bought new original hub cabs and I found a new floater for the gas tank so the reading on the dash is now accurate! I replaced the liner of the glove box, and installed a heater (an original I found on eBay). I fixed the interior light and replaced it with a new cover, installed the original cardboard head liner. I put in a new clutch and an original in line straight 6 motor. The original motor had already been rebuilt so I could not rebuild it again. I did tons of research, found a person in Lee's Summit, MO that had two 1956 F 100 pickups like mine. One of the trucks he was saving for parts, the other was to be converted to a hot rod. Via a vintage truck web site, I learned of him trying to sell off old truck parts. I contacted and after several emails, videos seeing the truck running, etc. He sold me the motor and told me it had only 50,000 original miles. He seemed honest, he was an architect from H.O.K. The 50,000 miles could be disputed but after we had the motor shipped in a crate via Yellow Freight from MO to SFO and installed it, it seemed to be true. We rebuilt the transmission and installed new fly wheel pressure plate, etc. It's "3 on the tree". The truck runs great. All hoses, seals etc, where also replaced. We set the odometer to 50K. Since the restoration, mid 2000's I haven't not put but more than 75 miles at best. My interest in selling it are two-fold: The driveway too narrow and it takes an effort to get it in and out of the driveway. It also takes up the whole garage. It is not driven much and we would like to see someone will truly enjoy it. Since having it restored I caused 3 dents on the truck, all from me trying to back it out of the driveway. I have every invoice, touch up paint color and a cover for it. In addition to web sites for parts, and manuals and catalogs. If I were continue working on the truck I would do the following: fix the dings, put carpet on the interior floor and re upholster the seats. There is nothing wrong with the interior seats, no rips or tears, I just think something more original could be done. Lastly, the driver window needs to be replaced. I have replaced it once, it was not installed properly and after a couple of times rolling the window up and down, it cracked horizontally middle of the window. Not an expensive replacement. I also think white wall tires on it would look great. There are steel belted white walls. Sorry this email is so long, but with something so old, it has a history.

1977 GMC CAMPER SPECIAL DUALLY 454 1TON:This truck runs and drives excellent. It has113,000 original miles.It has a 454 ci. gas engine and a th400 automatic tranny. the transmission shifts smooth/properly. The truck is powerful,reliable,and quiet(stock exhaust) It has been painted recently,the color is "deep-blue". the body is in very good shape with no dents and almost no rust on the entire vehicle. a very small amount of rust was found on the underside of the hood and treated.The fiberglass rear fenders are also in great shape. The tires are in good shape with %80+ tread left.The 16 inch rims come with a brand new set of stainless steel wheel simulators.The truck has ac but it needs to be recharged. It also has power steering and cruise control. There are special brackets for a camper on the sides of the truckbed ,also some kind of shock absorbers on the inside of the bed probably for a camper too. The bed has been sprayed recently with a metallic blue super liner brand spray on bedliner that matches the paint nicely.the heavy steel bumper in the rear has a tow hitch receiver but does not come with a hitch or ball.The interior of the truck is in nice shape, the seat does have rips and tears but it is covered by a nice seat cover. The door panels and dash are in excellent condition,carpet could use a cleaning.Included is a jvc cd deck with remote control,auxiliary input and brand new 6x9 speakers mounted in the doors,it sounds good too! The truck has dual gas tanks. Included in the sale is a california pink slip/title the status of the title is salvaged. the previous owner told me the title is salvaged due to vandalism but he was able to fix everything. The truck was last registered september of last year and has about $300 in back fees due,although if you live outside of california some of these fees may not apply to you.The truck passed the last time it was smogged but i have not attempted to do it recently. heres a small list of minor repairs the truck will need -passengers side door only opens from the outside handle.-speedometer gauge needs to be replaced.-ac needs recharge I would consider this truck to be reliable and i would trust it to make a long trip. so flying into california from out of state and driving the truck home could definitely be an option for the buyer. otherwise buyer is responsible for pickup/shipping.
