Description The Caribbean by Packard was one of the signature cars of the 1950s. Built on the Packard 400 chassis, the Caribbean series automobiles were loaded with luxury appointments. The company produced 276 Caribbean convertibles in 1956. The Caribbean series was powered by Packard's own overhead valve V-8 engine that displaced 375 cubic-inches and produced 310 horsepower thanks, in part, to twin four-barrel Rochester carburetors. The 1956 Caribbean Convertible was the last full size Packard produced. The Caribbena models sold new for around $5,995.00. The 374 cubic-inch V-8 engine had 310 horsepower which was the highest in the industry. This engine featured two - 4 barrel carburetors with 10:1 compression ratio and a push button automatic transmission. The interior featured reversible seat cushions with leather on one side and boucle cloth on the other. These never come up for sale!If you owned one of these in 1928 you were either a doctor, a lawyer, or a gangster!EXTREMELY SOLID AND CLEAN METAL THROUGHOUT!!!Chrome radiator shell and headlights are re-chromed and are in outstanding condition.This is a complete car that doesn't appear to be missing anything.Rumble Seat with roll down back window!Inline six-cylinder motor. Floor shifted 3 speed manual transmission.Gorgeous interior and rumble seat compartment!This is a beautiful Packard that is most definitely a sound investment and is surely to only keep going up in value! The paint is older and does show signs of wear, but it is very presentable. It has nicks, scratches, and blemishes. We believe the car was repainted in the late 70's according to the previous owners family (this car was purchased through an estate). The interior, rumble seat, carpet, headliner, etc... was redone roughly 5 years ago. Interior shows beautifully and is in like new condition! We were told the engine was rebuilt a few years back; however, we have no documentation to prove or disprove that claim. The engine runs excellent and starts easy every time. We recently ran the car in a parade for 45 minutes at a slow crawl and it ran excellent. The engine does smoke some from sitting over the years; however, has improved the more we drive it.The car runs, shifts, drives, stops, and steers excellent and goes down the road very smooth.Very smooth and easy to steer. I am selling My Packard Patrician. I have talked to many packard enthusiasts, Club members and even museums. And I am told that it is in fact the ONLY patrician with a manual transmission, And the ONLY one that runs on propane. The only other Packard in the world to run on propane is the first Carribean ever made. So this is literally the ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD. So, For $7,000 you can own this beauty. It has a sun beam propane kit on it, Dealer installed when new. This car was owned by the owner of a packard dealership. He drove the car as his personal car for years and owned it until 2010. He kept a meticulous amount of paperwork and reciepts and records for the car. He also has a few letters and even a dyno sheet of a secret motor that packard was developing in 1953 that was 852 cubic inches. I have all of this. The car runs great on Propane as well as gasoline. All at the flip of a switch. The self leveling torsion bar suspension works great, or you can turn the self leveling part off and lower the car to where you like. I tend to lower it as low as it goes and drive around. The power windows work great, the power seat works, as well as the power antenna. The only thing that doesnt work on the car is the radio. It lights up but the tubes are bad. Typical older radio. The transmission shifts fine, just like it should. I have not drove the car but a few miles because of the original dry rotted tires. I have extra drums and shoes for it. It is an amazing machine and EXTREMELY RARE as its the only one in the world. So Please, come take a look at it and take it home! You wont regret it.
