1936 Packard Twelve 1407 Coupe Roadster                             Last of the truly great Packard Twelve’s!  Suicide doors, dual side mounts, chrome wire wheels, rumble seat, AM radio, deluxe heater, and more!  Gorgeous interior, excellent chrome, rebuilt drivetrain, and same former ownership of 25+ years!  Represents one of only 682 Twelve’s built for 1936, and one of the few Coupe Roadsters to ever come to market! After the Great Depression of 1929 had crippled American lifestyle, Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, MI felt buyers of their exclusive product line would require more value for their money once on showrooms. It was decided that Senior Packard’s would become even more opulent and expensive!  Style lines improved dramatically, and the numbered Series models continued as they begun in 1923.  By 1931, adjustable shocks allowed for a new, driver-operated Ride Control system.  The Twin Six twelve cylinder-equipped vehicles were simply renamed Twelve’s in 1933 and stayed this way through their final year of 1939. With the introduction of a new medium-priced model, which came to production in 1935, named the 120 Model, it undeniably saved Packard from a similar demise of luxury brands such as Stutz, Marmon, Franklin, Pierce-Arrow, and Duesenberg. This inexpensive Junior option was built by more modern mass-production standards, while the Senior cars continued to require slower, handmade traditional craftsmanship.  Nearly 10 times as many Junior cars would be produced.  Packard continued to be recognized as America’s strongest luxury brand the world over.   For several reasons the 1936 model year, named the 14th Series instead of the 13th apparently for superstitious reasons, would become one of the most desired among serious Packard collectors.  It would be the last year for suicide style forward opening doors, solid axle front ends, and availability of wire spoke wheels!  The Twelve Coupe Roadster undeniably being one of the most beautifully sculpted Packard’s of all time! We are very excited to offer this hard to find 1936 Packard Twelve 1407 Coupe Roadster finished in Mayan Maroon with Red pinstripe and Tan Leather interior accented beautifully by Carpathian straight grained elm wood grained dash and steering wheel. Powered by its original & fully rebuilt 473ci V12 engine (#904445) producing 175 horsepower/366 ft. lbs. of torque mated to a 3-speed floor-shifted manual transmission with synchromesh top two gears.  Options & features include 17” Chrome wire spoke wheels wrapped in Michelin X 7.50R17 XCA Radial tube type wide whitewall tires, dual side-mounted spare tires with steel covers and Packard “se-Rite” mirrors, dual sun visors, metal-inlayed wood door caps, Packard Deluxe AM car radio, Packard heater, Ride Control system, dual golf bag doors with key locks, vacuum assisted drum brakes, rear rumble seat with fold out arm pads, interior map light, 30 gallon gas tank, and more! Our gorgeous example showcases a 30-year old restoration that survived exceptionally well while in the hands of its former Seattle caretaker of 25 years! Having a proper, professional restoration hold up this well over time supports it was done right the first time.  The dash wood graining, seat leathers, steering wheel, interior knobs & controls all appear in excellent condition.  The exterior chrome is bright and smooth without and spotting or pitting, while the paint lacquer paint has held up quite well with only subtle signs of age upon closer inspection.  Always garaged, and only driven and the nicest of days during the limited season provided in the Northwest.  Today, it continues to be an excellent driver provided with an electric fuel pump, added Antique, Inc. turn signals, and a battery cut-off under the hood for times of storage. According the Packard body tag attached bearing chassis #939-223, this car sold new in February 1936 from Packard in Akron, OH. Having made its way to the west coast later in life, with a stop in Oregon before settling into Washington State, it was honored with a CCCA National First Place award after being restored (Award #1154).  A great opportunity for the astute Packard collector looking for the last of the great Twelve’s ever built!  This Packard Twelve 2/4 Coupe Roadster would be a splendid addition!  Please feel free to call with questions. Great example of the 1949 Packard. Straight 8 cylinder engine starts right and runs great with no smoke and no leaks. 3 speed trans mission shifts very smoothly into all three gears and reverse. This model as the auto drive but it is not functional. Brakes are in good working order but shake a little when you first apply going over 50 MPH. Tires are new. Interior is in very clean condition. The front rubber mat does need replaced. The gauges DO work! Clock is not working. Glove box has original owners manual , service manual, and some old insurance cards from 30plus years ago. Jack and spare tire are in trunk and in good condition. Body is very straight and chrome in is good condition. The paint is cracking in spots and the is rust coming through the passenger side rear wheel. Trunk floor needs a patch as well. This 49 Packard is a blast to drive. It is an older restoration and ready for updating again. Sold as is where is. Clean clear title. $500 deposit due within 24 hours and balance due within 7 days. Driven Rods & Rides 636-375-5210 4663 State Highway W House Springs Missouri 63051 ? ? ? ? 1928 Packard Phaeton 533 ? ? Description 1928 was a unique year for Packard and more specifically the Model 533. The fifth series Packard would be the last six-cylinder Packard built until 1937 when the motor was reintroduced. The phaeton was a new production body for 1928 and was built on the longer wheelbase of 133 inches. This 1928 Model 533 was a combination of the last year for the six cylinder and the first year of the Phaeton body. Few six cylinder cars were produced in 1928 since most buyers were opting for the larger 8 cylinder. This particular car is a wonderful example of 1928 Packard Model 533 Phaeton. Having gone through a complete restoration in 1985, the car has been well cared for since, being with only two owners; the last being since 1988 here in St. Louis. With its dual side mounts, wire wheels full weather kit and optional second windshield that was commonly installed by Packard dealers to make the car resemble the more expensive dual cowl cars the car is striking. This is an older restoration that does show some minor signs of age. There is some minor cracking to the lacquer paint on the front doors as well as to the driver’s side rear door. The paint on the fenders looks very good with no major spots of cracking, chips or scratches. The chrome and stainless trim on the car all looks good with on major spots of pitting or damage. Just some very minor pitting around the windshield and mirrors. The body is extremely solid with no signs of previous damage. All wood is solid and shows no signs of rot. The soft top is new and in wonderful condition. The top goes up and down with no problems and comes with a complete set of side curtains. Inside, the reupholstered seats are in great condition with no major wear showing. The wood dash is extremely solid with no cracking showing. Gauges are all in good working order as well as all lights and wipers. Within the last year, the car went through a freshening up. During this, they made sure all components worked, flushed the fuel tank and rebuilt the carb. In the rear, the optional fold down windshield looks great and gives the car a dual cowl look. The car also comes with a full set of side curtains. The inline 6 cylinder runs great and starts with ease. The clutch and three speed manual transmission performs with ease. No slipping of the clutch and shifts are done with no problems. The engine compartment is nicely finished and shows no leaking. The underside of the car is extremely solid as well as all of the wood. New white wall bias ply tires are wrapped around painted wire wheels. This is a previous AACA National 1st place winner and is said to be 1 of only 2 surviving Model 533’s in this body style. The car drives wonderfully and would make a great addition to any collection, a wonderful tourer or a base for a concourse restoration. VIN number is 154176 and the current mileage shows 655. This car is being sold out of a local private collection. Rest assured this is an absolutely gorgeous car with few flaws from tip to tail which we have tried to picture. We welcome any and all inspections and viewing. Vehicle Information VIN: 154176 Stock: 1928 Packard Phaeton 533 Mileage: 655 Color: red Trans: Manual Engine: I6 MPG: Drivetrain: 2wd ?
