Taking a luxurious post-war Packard and adding a modern drivetrain, A/C, and a plush interior means that this is first-class transportation that will stand out just because it's unusual. At this price, you'd be crazy to pass on this heavy cruiser. The post-war Packards are excellent choices for a mild resto-mod like this. One, they're still full-sized cars, which means full-sized comfort. Two, they're insanely affordable. And three, they're pretty darned handsome in a 1940s aerodynamic sort of way. There's a much bigger pile of money than the price tag would indicate invested in this appealing red sedan. The bodywork is nicely done and we're guessing that this started out as a nice, straight car before any of the renovations began, because all four doors open and close with that solid feeling that modern cars just can't seem to duplicate. The glowing burgundy paint has a bit of metallic in it, just enough to make it really shine in the sun, but it doesn't look inappropriate in any way. It's got a few signs of use, because this car was built to drive, but having seen a lot of this car's siblings, we'll state unequivocally that this one is far nicer than most. Add in a lot of very nicely restored chrome, including the familiar Packard grille and the cool bumper-less front end treatment, and you get a car that looks like it should cost a lot more than it does. The exceptionally tasteful interior is pure Packard, from the seats to the woodgrained dashboard to the handsomely sculpted door panels. Everything is new, but the cloth upholstery respects the original design and looks very 1940s. The window garnish moldings and dashboard are woodgrained steel, not actual wood, and the work is so well done that it's hard to tell the difference. A modern tilt steering column has been fitted and there's a wooden steering wheel that seems to fit right in. The factory instrument panel remains, although the original big, round dials have been replaced by neatly installed gauges from Dolphin that look like they were custom made just for this application. A/C vents have been neatly installed in the dash and while the original radio is still in the center stack, a modern AM/FM/cassette head unit has been installed in a mini console just underneath. And as you'd expect, the trunk is massive, with a full set of carpets and a matching fifth wheel assembly. The original straight-8 is gone, replaced by a tried-and-true 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8. The massive engine bay needed no modifications to handle the upgraded powerplant, and it's supported by a larger radiator, power steering and brakes, and a 4-barrel carburetor. It's not dressed for show, it's purely functional, but that means it's also reliable and easy to service. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and exhales through a burbling dual exhaust system that's healthy but never obnoxious. The undercarriage is pretty original with clean floors and a heavy-duty frame and it sits right on a set of steel wheels with Packard hubcaps and 235/75/15 whitewall radials. Complete with restoration receipts, this is an unusual resto-mod that's a great alternative to the usual heavy cruisers. With the utmost respect for the original Packard feel, this car puts its upgrades in all the right places. This 1936 Packard is a really nice car and a great find. It has alot of paperwork with it telling some history on the build. This car was boought as just a body with no motor, no transmission or no interior in North Carolina. It was just a roller. It was Black at the time of purchase. This was December 12, 1998. The owner then wanted to build a Streetrod and that he did. After buying the body the owner then bought a 1973 Nova and welded the front clip of the Nova on the firewall and from that same Nova bolted in the rear end. Next step was the purchase of a 350 Chevy engine and 350 turbo transmission. Both engine and transmission were completely rebuilt and the installed in this car. A tilt steering colunm was then purchased and installed. All new wiring was bought and installed along with new Vintage A/c system and new gauges. The tires were bought new from Coker Tires in Chattanooga, Tn. The car then had all new upholstery put in and the car was then painted the Burgandy color it is now. There are papers showing where all the exterior lights were bought, where the bumpers were, where the wheels were etc.. You hopefully get the idea. This was all finished in the year 2000. This is a beautiful car for sure and the paperwork with the history is really interested to read. This car is all Steel except the running boards and the 2 rear fenders which are fiberglass. The little storage door in the back is also fiberglass. It has a trunk then another storage area below it. This car is an honor to own and a really hard car to find these days. Pure luxury is what this Streetrod offers. Style like no other as well. This car is also For Sale locally and on other sites so auction could end early. It is being sold as is with no warranty given or implied in anyway. Please if possible come and inspect this car for yourself or have someone inspect it for you so you will know exactly what you are bidding on. If you choose not to do this then don't fuss about anything that I could have missed. I have tried to describe best I could but if you have questions please ask and I will give you the honest truth. I have alot more pics of this car as well. To have been built 15 years car is in great shape. It is being sold with a current Georgia registration as Georgia will not issue a title on any vehicle this old. You will be able to get a title in your state with the paperwork I give you so don't worry about this. Thanks for looking and again any questions you may have please ask.

And if that's the case, you also know that it's a bargain. Arguably the best-driving Packard of the late 1930s, the 120 was hardly a "bargain" Packard, because it's got all the big car charm and looks, and for the moment, it's the most affordable way to get an eight-cylinder Packard convertible of any kind. Wearing proper Packard Cream paint, this handsome coupe gets just about everything right. Paint and bodywork are beautifully restored, which, again, makes the price seem almost comically low. It's not a "fixer-upper" it's ready to enjoy and while it's not perfect, it's awfully danged nice. The tall, narrow Packard grille is a trademark, as are the body side moldings with a small arrow on the leading edge, all highlighted by red pinstripes to make it look sporty. Sidemounts are a rather rare option on the 120 and give it a presence that rivals its larger siblings. In fact, the biggest problem with the 120 back when it was new is that it was simply too good and buyers figured why should they step up to a large-series car when this one was already excellent in every way? It shows in the detailing around the running boards, the hood vents, and the "donut pusher" hood ornament, which was very similar to the larger cars. The chrome details are just as impressive, with shiny bumpers, nice stainless details, and cleanly installed turn signals discreetly fitted to the bumpers. If you want a Packard to drive first and foremost, a 120 is what you should be seeking. The black interior is a great contrast to the cream bodywork and uses period-correct vertical pleats on the wide bench seat. It seems roomy inside because Packard moved the shifter to the steering column, and with the disappearance of rumble seats a year earlier, there are two jump seats in back that fold out of the way for massive storage space. The steering wheel is nicely restored and perhaps showing some age, but the rest of the beautifully woodgrained dash and instruments are quite nice. This car includes optional dealer-installed heater and an in-dash radio, which was cutting edge tech at the time but sadly not functional today, which is hardly surprising. The lack of a rumble seat means there's a huge trunk, which carries a matching spare so you don't have to wrestle with the sidemount covers and risk damage if worse comes to worst. There's also a very nicely fitted black canvas top with a matching vinyl boot to give it a beautiful look, top up or down. The 120 uses a 282 cubic inch straight-8, which makes, naturally, 120 horsepower. It's as smooth and torquey as you'd expect and moves the trim convertible with genuine enthusiasm. It's detailed with proper Packard olive green paint and we see no deviations from the original spec under the hood. There's an oil bath air cleaner, fabric-wrapped coolant hoses, and a single downdraft carburetor that offers great throttle response. The three-speed manual transmission shifts easily thanks to synchromesh on 2nd and 3rd gears and it's pretty happy at 55 MPH. The 120's innovative Safe-T-Flex independent front suspension was now standard across the line, but it was still a great handling car with a lot of confidence on the road. The brakes were similarly powerful and reliable for the period. Handsome steel wheels with more red pinstripes, trim rings, and Packard hubcaps are wrapped in 7.00-16 whitewall tires for the perfect period look. If you know Packards, you know this is a special car. It's fully sorted and ready to enjoy, and if you haven't experienced the joy of a 120, this is probably your last chance to get a drop-top at anything approaching a reasonable price. It was among the most expensive production cars you could buy in 1950 and with only 67 built, it's quite rare indeed. With Packard's top-of-the-line 356 cubic inch straight-8 engine, it's also a spirited performer with unparalleled luxury for the period and a classic Packard look. The post-war Packards were all new in 1948, delivering a smooth, clean look that shed every vestige of its pre-war formality. The new look wasn't to everyone's taste, but nobody could argue that it didn't look like a big pile of money sitting on four tires. This beautiful convertible wears an older restoration that still shows well, probably because the light yellow paint works so well on the big ragtop. Finish quality must have been rather good when it was restored, because it's holding up well, although it's understandable that there would be a few signs of use and wear because this is one of the most road-worthy cars of the period. The Custom 8 had a lot of extra chrome that the lesser cars didn't, and all of it is in excellent condition, including the bumpers, bezels, and all the stainless side trim. The familiar Packard grille still leads the way along with a beautifully rendered Packard cormorant hood ornament that's luxury embodied. The tan leather interior has the same kind of comfortable, inviting look as the rest of the car. No longer fresh and perfect, the patina somehow enhances its appeal and everything is nonetheless in very good shape. The seats show some minor wear and use, but no split seams or other damage. The door panels were upholstered to match and the contrasting tan carpets are in decent shape but show some light stains. The gauges are probably original and are joined by an aftermarket temperature gauge under the dash. Some of the plastic pieces are starting to crack and age, but I don't think I'd waste money on trying to perfect everything because the overall look is quite consistent. There's a well-fitted tan convertible top and a matching boot, and this is one of those rare cars that looks as good with the top up as it does top down. And by 1950, trunks were spacious, with this one upholstered in brown carpet and carrying a full-sized spare tire. The reason so many people love their senior-series Packards is under that long, long hood: a 356 cubic inch straight-8. Designed to replace the mighty V12 in 1940, it has nine main bearings and a crankshaft that weighs more than 100 pounds all by itself, resulting in uncanny smoothness and torque. It fills the engine bay, but service access is good thanks to the flathead design and it's been reasonably well detailed. But the real delight is in driving it, because the torquey straight-8 moves the big convertible with such ease that it feels like an electric motor not internal combustion. A correct oil bath air cleaner, downdraft carburetor, and those long exhaust manifolds all take you back to the 1940s and early '50s. There's an updated cooling fan at the front of the motor to keep things comfortable while in traffic and Packard's "Ultramatic" automatic transmission works well with no input needed from the driver. Just ease onto the accelerator and the car motors away with a pleasant burble from the single tailpipe. The undercarriage is not detailed for show but also doesn't have any nasty surprises for a new owner and those flashy chrome wire wheels and L78-15 wide whitewall tires definitely make this car a one-vehicle parade. But look closer and you'll see that this car keeps all the lovely pre-war styling and adds modern conveniences that make it today's equivalent of Packard's finest. White wasn't on Packard's list of factory colors, but you could special order any color you wanted for a very modest additional charge, so there's no reason why this car couldn't have been built in this combination. It's remarkable how good it looks in bright white, which highlights the classic Packard lines, especially that long, long hood. Fit and finish are certainly up to Packard's high standards, with nary a mark on the all-steel bodywork. You'll have to be pretty picky to find faults with this car. And that's really as it should be, with only 1784 miles on the build. All four doors fit well, the butterfly hood latches in place without a fight, and the dual sidemounts (a relatively rare option in its final year in 1941) are snug in their wells. All the chrome and stainless was expensively restored to show condition, including the traditional Packard grille which must have cost a small fortune. No question that this is a very impressive car. The interior is very skillfully done, blending old and new to create a vintage Packard ambiance with modern conveniences. Gorgeous red leather covers the original seats and door panels, all of which were carefully stitched to look authentic. The original dashboard was smoothed and filled, then fitted with a set of pretty Classic Instruments gauges with white faces. Underneath, a custom A/C system was neatly integrated and it was all artfully painted with a burled walnut pattern, which is actually how the factory did it in 1941. A modern tilt column with a shifter for the 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission carries a billet wheel wrapped in matching red leather and an AM/FM/CD stereo system provides adequate entertainment, top up or top down. And speaking of the top, it's beautifully tailored in black canvas and folds neatly into a surprisingly short stack behind the rear seat, although it's probably best to have a friend or two around when it's time to put it back up. The trunk is fully upholstered in matching red materials and includes an actual spare tire (the sidemounts are vulnerable to damage if you actually store tires there) with a custom Packard-logo cover. A 5.7 liter Chevrolet V8 provides plenty of modern force, and although it's hard to replicate the smooth torque of Packard's 356 cubic inch straight-8, this powertrain certainly comes close with an updated twist. The Chevy V8 is a neat fit in the long, narrow engine bay thanks to an accessory drive that pulls everything in tight to the block and rather than going with a chrome show look, they instead chose to make it look as if this car were built by the factory just the way it is. The result is easy serviceability and an OEM look that reflects the expert engineering that went into the build. The aforementioned 700R4 4-speed automatic makes this a fantastic highway cruiser, even with 3.73 gears out back. Four-wheel disc brakes provide superlative stopping power for this heavyweight cruiser and the flashy chrome wire wheels are a great touch, especially wrapped in modern wide whitewall radials. So don't sweat it, purists, this car was finished to standards worthy of the Packard name and they respected the original design. If you want to stand out at the next show, this car will do it better than just about anything else.
