1928 Packard 526 CoupeOne of the Kings of Class from the era of the Depression!VERY RARE!!! These never come up for sale!If you owned one of these in 1928 you were either a doctor, a lawyer, or a gangster!EXTREMELY SOLID AND CLEAN METAL THROUGHOUT!!!Chrome radiator shell and headlights are re-chromed and are in outstanding condition. This is a complete car that doesn't appear to be missing anything.Rumble Seat with roll down back window!Inline six-cylinder motor. Floor shifted 3 speed manual transmission.Gorgeous interior and rumble seat compartment! This is a beautiful Packard that is most definitely a sound investment and is surely to only keep going up in value! The paint is older and does show signs of wear, but it is very presentable. It has nicks, scratches, and blemishes. We believe the car was repainted in the late 70's according to the previous owners family (this car was purchased through an estate). The interior, rumble seat, carpet, headliner, etc... was redone roughly 5 years ago. Interior shows beautifully and is in like new condition! We were told the engine was rebuilt a few years back; however, we have no documentation to prove or disprove that claim. The engine runs excellent and starts easy every time. We recently ran the car in a parade for 45 minutes at a slow crawl and it ran excellent. The engine does smoke some from sitting over the years; however, has improved the more we drive it.The car runs, shifts, drives, stops, and steers excellent and goes down the road very smooth.Very smooth and easy to steer. PHONE CALLS WORK BEST WITH ANY QUESTIONS SO FEEL FREE TO CALL US ANYTIME (day or night) (216)701-6495 (JEFF) OR (216)548-8375 (TIM) Very clean and solid body, frame, and undercarriage. Tires and wheels are in great condition. This is a get in and go Packard that starts right up and runs smooth. Drive with confidence!Like the slogan says "PACKARD, ASK THE MAN WHO OWNS ONE"Please note this car is not a $100,000.00 car; however, restored to #1 condition these Packards easily surpass that mark. This car is a get in and go car that can be driven with reliability as is for many years to come or can be taken the the next level very easily as it is a complete car. It is most definitely a very rare car with very few left in existence. CALL ANYTIME WITH ANY QUESTIONS! This car is for sale locally and we reserve the right to remove it from eBay. A Packard was a sign of wealth and distinction when it was new, and the reputation has only grown as these elegant machines have only grown rarer. Packards have always been about providing premium motoring, but this one shows a high level of class in its originality. The bodywork, chrome grille, solid pinstripe wheels, lights, foldable luggage rack, and all other major components look like they were in the care of someone who knew that maintaining did not mean fidgeting. This car was refreshed about forty years ago, which was more about extensive maintenance than replacement. The Runabout body style is one of the most iconic forms of the era. You have an open motoring roadster for when you want personal elegance, and then the foldable rumble seat is there for everything from extra friends to a place of honor in parades. For added weather protection, there is a folding canvas top with the factory-correct side curtains to fully button-up this classic. Because this Packard would spend most of its time open to the world, the interior perfectly complements the exterior. The original black leather seats coordinate well with the earthtone green and black accents on the outside. The real wood panels inside complete this organic feeling. There might be a place or two that could use a new lacquer finish for those who don't cherish absolute originality. Overall, it's hard to find a piece that has been replaced (or needs replacing) in the 87 years since this luxury car first left the factory. There is plenty of space for the driver and passenger within this car's 126-inch wheelbase (because 1928 was the fifth year for this series, this is often referred to as a 5-26 or 526 model). Powering this Packard is the 289 cubic-inch straight six cylinder motor that is mated to a three-speed manual transmission (pre-synchromesh). 1928 was the final year for the "Single Six" and constant improvement to this model meant its 81 hp was now approaching its larger eight-cylinder brother. All Packards carried the same engineering marvels of the time such as the four-wheel brakes, chassis lubrication system, and pedal activated stop light. While the six-cylinder was a bit more economical, it is like trying to compare Rolls-Royces today. The cost of this Runabout when new could have bought around five Ford Model A's. In fact, Packard used a great analogy to help people understand why the 526 models were so expensive. The company would mention that people once bought paper-soled shoes until they realized buying better shoes lasted longer. So Packard warned others not to pay less for paper-soled cars. Imagine if had they had only known how long this roadster would last! Packard promoted this one as a car that offered beauty, distinction, comfort, long life, economy, and safety. Nine decades later, we couldn't agree more. Finding another out there is tough, this one won't last in our showroom...call today!!! 1928 Packard 526 Runabout for Sale 1928 Packard 526 Runabout for Sale Stock # 3048-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1.
