A real survivor, a classic cruiser with all the style and elegance of the days when cars were automobiles. It is a pleasure to drive and has power to spare. A four door hardtop, this is top of the line luxurious and in mint condition. The Regency 98 model was a trim upgrade, competing head to head with Cadillac Fleetwood. The pillow back velour upholstery provides all the interior luxury you would expect. My GM book says there were 16,802 of these cars built but they are hard to find now, having succumbed to rust and other reasons. This one is a survivor and will last many more decades if properly maintained. And it's survival is supported by the unique GMC motorhome which used the same 455 cu.in. engine in it's front wheel drive train. Of the 12,000 built between 1973 and 1978, most had the 455 engine and the later units had a downsized 403. More than three fourths are still in active use with many shops offering support and parts. The owner is more than 90 years of age and says sell! This car originally belonged to an older sister who recently passed away. It was purchased new in 1976 for her sister's 56th birthday and has been a Sunday and special occasion car with very little use over the years. It has had excellent periodic maintenance and a complete restoration in 2005 which included paint. The full vinyl top is perfect, the power windows all work, as well as everything else. There are also 26 of the 8-track music tapes that go with the car and a list of those is available on request. The car is free of rust and the chrome is in very good condition. The trunk is huge and has a full size spare tire, jack and a red toolbox for shows. It has garnered more than a few trophies in shows. Looking for the best? Have a close look at this one!

This a rare collector car, a classic with regard to its unique styling and a limited production of only 2,453. It is unmolested and original except for replacement of rear fender extensions and glass top of the sun/moonroof assembly. The car was sold new in Beaverton, Oregon on 6-28-78 and the original papers reflect the buyer's name and address from the selling dealer Herzog Motors, Inc. , a dealer who survives to this day with 3rd generation family ownership as Herzog-Meier. This XS comes with its original paperwork including the sun/moonroof instructions and tool. More importantly, the original window sticker showing the exact options this car has. It also has a Driver Controlled Leveling System for the rear which is much like the leveling systems of later GM luxury cars. It is loaded with options including sunroof, red leather interior, 6-way power seats adjustable individually for driver and passenger, air conditioning, lamp out monitoring system, Driver's audible reminder for Low Coolant, Hi-Lo Voltage, Engine Hot and Lights On. Stereo is equipped with a built-in 8-track tape player and 25 tapes will be included with the sale, an OEM set of original red rubber mats for the flat floor in front with a matching mat for the rear seat floor ( a picture is included with this listing ). The passenger side also features a matching detachable litter basket covered in matching carpet mounted near the door opening. A regular set of red rubber mats ( not OEM ) is also included with the car. There is also a photo of the trunk to show a full sized spare tire and wheel, replacing a space saving spare tire and compact air inflation tank. The XS has a panoramic wrap around rear window, giving an unobstructed view with no pillars. It has a wheelbase of 122 inches, a total length of 227 inches, weighs in at 4,800 lbs, providing a smooth, luxurious ride. It also has an electronic system called MISAR that uses a 10 bit microprocessor, the first GM auto computer controlling ignition and production of power. It senses atmospheric pressure, engine vacuum, temperature and speed to determine optimum spark advance, enabling better fuel economy. Dash gauges also include one for the driver to visually see the amount of vacuum when driving to maintain top economy. The MISAR's first introduction was on the 1977 / 1978 Toronados. The 1978 Toronado was further improved by relocating the speed sensor to inside the distributor, from the crankcase pulley. The 1978 Toronado was the last of the big luxury Olds cars, used most of the drive train first introduced on the 1966 Toronado, the trailblazer that introduced the truly new style with front wheel drive, including torsion bar front suspension. The 1977 / 1978 Toronado featured a 403 cu. in. displacement engine, replacing the iconic 455 engine. Both power trains were also used on the GMC motorhome, the first motorhome designed and built from the ground up. These were built from 1973 until 1978 and three quarters of the 12,000 built are still running today. This XS has the 403 engine and it runs great. The Hydramatic transmission is 3 speed and provides smooth power throughout all speed ranges. The styling that enables the Toronado's uniqueness is a driver's compartment set rearward on the chassis, allowing a longer hood that is large but also innovative in that it is made of aluminum. This leaves a smaller than average trunk in the rear but fortunately so wide that even a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood can be accommodated. The remaining Toronado XS's are getting rarer and appreciating in value as the 70's generation looks for the cars they grew up with. My XS is a collector's car, a cream puff dream car that has standard GM parts, easy to maintain with plenty of room around the engine for service access. Along with the large number of GMC motorhomes surviving, many parts and service providers exist, assuring availability long into the future for Toronado owners. If you are looking for the best, take a close look at this one. It is not perfect but it very much the exceptional car that it started out to be, only it is getting to be rarer and rarer automobile. This car is offered AS-IS , with no warranty expressed or implied. Potential buyers are encouraged to see the car personally before making a decision to buy. A deposit of $500.00 is required of the buyer within 24 hours of the commitment to purchase. The balance is due within one week, unless the buyer elects to pick up with cash in hand. The title is ready for the transaction and a bill of sale can also be furnished. If paying with a cashiers check or money order, payment must include a verifying letter from the bank it was drawn on, to acknowledge that the funds are good. It is the buyer's responsibility to make shipping or pickup arrangements. The car is also available for local sale so the right to end the EBay listing is reserved. Do not make an offer unless you intend to pay. E-mail me with any questions prior to offers. Buyers with less than 5 feedbacks must contact me in advance or their offer will be rejected without consideration. Good luck and Happy 2016!

RARE VEHICLE!!! This car was born to be a classic. This is the last model year of the Toronado, it is a collectors item. This car sold for almost $40,000 in 1992. Now that GM has completely stopped making the Oldsmobile line of cars. I have owned this car for about 8 years. The car has had about 5 owners. it runs and drives good, it would be a great car for someone who wanted a nice car for a deal. All power options work, starts right up and drives great. it has every feature available that year (except the phone). The a/c needs to be charged, this car has only been driven 20,000 miles in the past 8 years. There also is a salvage vehicle (parts car) that is included in this great deal. The car is solid, and with a little work and some tender loving care this car will be worth quite a bit in the future.

Selling my custom 1982 cutlass supreme. It has a custom lift and sitting on 22"rims right now but will fit alot bigger up to a 30"wheel. It does not have a motor in it right now because it was stolen recently along with the driveshaft. But it used to run and had a.350 rocket in it. It still also has 3" Flowmaster exhaust. I still have the 3 speed transmission and torque convertor, along with a pair of hooker headers. The interior is in excellent shape, and is original blue velvet. It has power windows and power door locks. All sales will be in person and buyer responsible for transport.

These big bold 442 coupes always look best in Rally Red. After all, they are kin to Chevy's legendary aggressive Hugger Orange. These are the sleek kings of the streets, with the fastback profile, red inner fender wells, and bulging quarter panels. This one continues to hit all the right notes with W-30 badging, ram air hood, twist lock hood pins, and spoiler on the rear deck. The intricate black stripes do a great job of highlighting the aggressive look. This A-body retains its unique Oldsmobile identity thanks to chrome bumpers (correctly notched in the rear) and a few bright stainless trim pieces that really dress it up especially on the Olds-specific rallye wheels. The black interior is pure Oldsmobile. The handsome button-pattern buckets have to be this perfect because they attract so much attention. In between the buckets is the optional center console that's a very desirable option. Of course, as an Olds, there's plenty of burled walnut applique on the dash, door panels, and console. And, when the wood is this nice, it actually does a very nice job of adding character to the interior. Everyone benefits from features like the AM/FM radio and heat/defrost, but this is a true driver's car at heart. The four-spoke sports steering wheel should look familiar to any Olds fan, but beyond that is a set of blue digital gauges, to give this vintage muscle machine a cool modern touch. And that's not the only interior upgrade...you have counted the gears on the shift knob right? Under the hood is exactly what you expect to see in a 442, a big block motor. In '71 buyers really wanted a 455 cubic-inch V8 like this one. You can tell by the engine bay that this is car show ready from the moment you pop the hood. It carries a lot of original pieces like the air cleaner, but you can also see bright upgrades in the shining valve covers, and ceramic coated headers. That latter upgrade is part of a long tube setup that connects to a Flowmaster dual exhaust sytem. So you know this one has a loud bark and the bite to back it up. Part of the origins of the 4-4-2 name included four-on-the-floor, but this one goes one step further. There is a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual connected to the monster motor to make sure you can always stay in the powerband. To make sure this reliably gets to the road, the power is sent through a 12-bolt Positraction rear end. But there's more to the Olds than just muscle. That extra gear means overdrive cruising, and the power steering, front power disc brakes, and modern Turbo-Tech GT tires all make this 442 handle nicely on a Sunday drive. You're looking for a VIN 334 Olds 442, and you've found it, with all the right features already installed. It's priced right to move just as fast as this big-block coupe can take it. But at the end of the day, one thing is certain: it didn't take long for EVERYONE to join the party. And by 1970, the tried and true formula for Oldsmobile's storied 442 produced well-groomed street fighters like this incredible W30 hardtop. The subject of a 3-year, ground-up restoration, this razor-sharp Olds is a fully documented classic that wraps a numbers-matching drivetrain in all-original sheetmetal. If you're in the market for a first-class muscle car, it's time to stop debating and start calling! BODYWORK/TRIM A factory-correct car that reportedly hails from the dry climate of west Texas, this top notch A-Body features a solid, all-original profile that's covered in clean, Classic White 2-stage. That paint, and the traditional gold stripes that complement it, is a direct result of an extensive, 3-year restoration that wrapped up in the Spring of 2015. And today, five figures in to the future, this 442 is a timeless muscle car that intimidates like a cruise missile and shines like the family's best silver. Oldsmobile's modernist, mid-century design aesthetic was no doubt a play on its engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy, and the cars that proudly carry those lines continue to weather exceptionally well. At the front of this coupe, a 442-specific grille centers monochromatic "442" lettering between stainless-trimmed T3 headlights and a bright chrome bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye to like-new glass that rides behind straight stainless frames. At the sides of that hood, traditional GM door handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement clean marker lamps, dent-free wheel rings and a slick combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a "442" branded decklid hangs a factory wing above a second chrome bumper, silver-trimmed taillights and correct, trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE Hoist this Olds' scooped hood and you'll find an original, 455 cubic inch Rocket V8 that's branded with a correct 396021F casting number and matching partial VIN. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, that red hot mill is a reliable, big-port big block that, in factory form, twists stout 10.5 to 1 compression into a quick 370 horsepower! Stomp the throttle and a restored Rochester 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct W-30 air cleaner, and shoves it in to a Winters aluminum intake. At the back of that intake, a traditional points distributor feeds fire through proven Packard TV R Suppression Cables, which snake around correct "F" heads and stamped and painted valve covers. Below those covers, freshly restored exhaust manifolds shoot charred dinosaurs in to big, true-dual pipes. Mechanically, the stout engine is all day reliable, spinning 500 lb./ft. of rock-crushing torque from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. Aesthetically, familiar plastic fenders and Metallic Blue block skin look fantastic against the car's clean body. There's a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes factory air conditioning and a correct Delco Moraine brake booster. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its fresh decals and pliable GM hoses to its color-keyed intake springs and Delco-topped battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket fronts an original 3-speed, which hangs a correct "70 - OW" assembly tag opposite a matching partial VIN. That tough transmission sends power to a stout, 12-bolt axle. That driveline pushes a familiar Heavy Duty Suspension, which, along with the car's chassis, was thoroughly marked and tagged during the detailed restoration. Solid stops are provided by rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes. Turns come courtesy of a familiar Saginaw gearbox, which is piped to factory power steering. At the center of the floors, aluminized exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on charcoal SSIIs, which spin 225/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around polished trim rings and rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR This impressive coupe's correct, well-optioned interior is so fresh it looks like it just rolled out of the upholstery shop. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fade-free carpet that's protected by "442 W-30" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests behind convenient power windows and optional power door locks. A wood-trimmed dash hangs deluxe telemetry above simple AC controls, optional audio equipment and a hidden button that actuates the car's sizeable trunk. At the base of that dash, a slim console frames a slim Hurst shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, the aforementioned trunk anchors a fifth SSII and vintage Goodyear Polyglas between a small light, correct tools, bright decals and a fresh mat. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. This 1960 Oldsmobile Super 88 is the perfect combination of wildly aggressive exterior, comfy interior, and 425 big block power under the hood. This coupe is striking from every angle. It has the popular lower, wider, longer stance that's been taken one step further with the lower suspension. And the front end grabs attention with pods for each of the quad headlights. These '60s Olds were usually chrome kings, but this one is interesting with the custom cinnamon paint covering much of the brightwork for a more modern look. These were the days when the tailfins were so wild that they had to be turned on their side. This went one step further with the design line created by the fins circling the entire car. You might wonder why with a design so cool you don't see more of these cars on the road today. The simple reason is because they are rare. Less than 16,500 of these hardtop coupes were produced 55 years ago, so they are quite extraordinary today. Open the door, and you'll see cool mixture of new, and vintage. The tan leatherette seats come from a '97 Cadillac Eldorado, and the transplant even included the power motors for the front buckets. The wraparound windshield helps to frames the dual cowl dashboard that looks like it was designed for a '60 Corvette rather than a full size car built for extra-wide luxury. The driver gets a tall B&M performance shifter, and the original style large steering wheel that leaves a wide opening to see the cool new digital dashboard. Everyone gets to enjoy the AM/FM/CD stereo that's iPod compatible, and provisions for air conditioning. Those Super Sport-style stripes on the car are not just for cool style. Under the hood is a serious upgrade. Later in the '60s Oldsmobile introduced arguably its best engine, the smooth and powerful Super Rocket V8. This coupe has been upgraded with the famous 425 cubic-inch big block motor that comfortably advertised its horsepower above 300. Just to make sure this monster motor is still performing at its peak, it's topped with an Edelbrock 650 CFM four-barrel carburetor. With this kind of power, you better believe the dual exhaust makes a nice rumble at idle. But while this custom package might look and sound intimidating, it's also still a luxurious Oldsmobile at heart. That's why this has a great cruising combination of power steering and a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. This is the fully-built custom that will not only make you go "WOW!" but also everyone else at the car show will too. It's hard to believe such a unique and rare coupe is available at such a low price. It's big block power wrapped in premium package, and it only gets better when it has been cared for so well as this one. This is also quite a rare piece of 60's muscle as only 1,807 442 convertibles were produced in 1967 with automatic transmission. The Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible was already a great-looking car, and the 442 package added a touch of aggression to its straight-laced style. Just like a 1960s FBI G-man, this Olds wears its gray suit with enough distinction to be intimidating. Against the factory-correct P-2 Pewter paint, the chrome and stainless trim has an interesting effect. Indoors it blends with the rest of the body, but once outside, the bumpers, fender flairs, and a-pillar all pop in the sunshine. Proper tri-color 442 badges and redline tires add some nice color without distracting from the overall professional look. Open the door, and you'll instantly remember what premium looked like in the late 60s. The black vinyl interior is pristine, which is nice because it's tough to retain the correct intricate stitching on the door panels and the bucket seats. The dashboard is one of those great exercises in driver dominance. The big chrome panel houses everything including the heat/defrost controls, power folding top switch, and original style AM/FM radio with enough space to give them each their own zip code. Big, round gauges fill the instrument panel ahead of the driver and they are in original condition with crisp markings that seem to hover over the needles spinning behind them. The final piece for the driver is the grippy three-spoke steering wheel that is both wafer-thin and sturdy as steel. One of the fours in the '442' name stands for 400 cubic-inches, but we'll let you in on a little secret...the motor here is even larger. This Olds ragtop is powered by the d-code 425 cubic-inch V8 that was reserved for the larger Oldsmobiles. In a car like the Toronado, this engine made 10% more advertised power than what came in the standard 442. So think of this as a muscle car with some extra muscle. The added power is recognized the moment you turn the key and hear the unmistakable big block rumble out of the Flowmaster dual exhaust. But in true Olds fashion, this convertible is much more than just a big motor. This is an all-day cruiser with an automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. This cool Olds is an awarding-wining convertible that has been so well restored that you'll swear that the original owner's manual is not the only survivor. Beautiful to look at and a joy to drive, this fast convertible offers a very appealing package. 1967 Oldsmobile 442 for Sale 1967 Oldsmobile 442 for Sale Stock # 3085-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Sure, you can go the LS5 or LS6 Chevelle route, but the best bowties will set you back a small house or two. And the same goes for the most desirable members of Buick's GS family and Pontiac's GTO line. Well, what if we said you could take home a magazine-featured, national award-winning example of a limited production A-body, which many GM enthusiasts aren't even aware of, for under $40K? That's probably enough to get your undivided attention, right? In addition to being a loud, broad-shouldered hunk of the rocket division's best metal, this Oldsmobile is 1 of just 3,547 Cutlass Rallye 350s ever produced. Restored with an acute attention to detail, the car features a roster of correct parts that range from an original engine all the way down to a sorted FE2 suspension. And best of all, these qualities exist within a balanced, fun-to-drive classic that doesn't require a second mortgage! HISTORY/CREATION Historically, the Rallye 350 is a pretty interesting piece. The Big Three seemed to understand that the muscle-car era was a bubble that would eventually be popped by rising insurance costs and increased government regulation. And in the case of Oldsmobile, prolonging the inevitable meant creating a fun, affordable car that was capable of turning heads using a rather conservative small block. To ramp up appeal, Olds compiled various trim pieces into a unique visual package that's highlighted by Sebring Yellow paint and very aggressive striping. Up front, a black, silver-trimmed grille, borrowed from the Cutlass S, rides between a urethane-coated bumper and pinned 442 W25 hood. Styled Steel II wheels join painted sport mirrors and trumpeted exhaust tips to mix a little function into form. And out back, a 442 W35 wing floats over black-trimmed taillights and a second urethane-coated bumper. The end result is a brand of visual punch that's simply unmatched by anything this side of Chrysler's brightest Hi Impact pastels. And, in reality, the package might've been a bit too risqu for Olds' traditionally conservative buyer base, resulting in relatively low production numbers and a high level of exclusivity. BODYWORK During a 4.5-year restoration that was completed in early 1995, this solid Cutlass was thoroughly stripped, carefully disassembled and treated to entirely new body panels with the exception of its floors, roof and driver's door. After hours of hard work, the car's clean profile presented itself as an excellent foundation for correct Sebring Yellow 2-stage. And today, one close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest looking muscle cars on the planet! ENGINE When this Olds' restorer found his new project listed deep in the classifieds, it had been upfitted with a 455 cubic inch big block. Fortunately, the seller had retained the car's original L74 Rocket 350 and was willing to include it with the sale. Hoist the fiberglass hood and you'll find that original mill proudly displaying a correct 395558 casting number in front of a matching partial VIN. At the top of the nickel-infused block, a big Quadrajet 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a correct, low-restriction air cleaner. That air/fuel mixture travels in to a high performance intake that's anchored by a traditional points distributor. That distributor feeds fire through proven Packard TV R Suppression Cables, which snake around correct "6" heads that are equipped with hardened valve seats and 3-angle valve jobs. Below those heads, forged, .030 over pistons shoot charred dinosaurs into cast iron exhaust manifolds and big, true-dual pipes. Aesthetically, the car's Satin Black fenders and snazzy gold block look fantastic against its bright yellow paint. Thanks to the pros at Wallingford, Connecticut's East Coast Machine & Performance, the stout powerplant is all day reliable. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its vintage decals and Frigidaire AC compressor all the way to its re-cored radiator and tagged Delco Energizer battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome Cutlass is completely solid and, thanks to a fully powder-coated chassis, shows no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 350 fronts a rugged Muncie 4-speed that's much more fun than the car's original Turbo-Hydramatic 350. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt that's equipped with a limited-slip differential and moderate, 3.42 gears. That driveline hangs in a correct FE2 Rallye suspension, which includes better shocks, thicker coil springs, reinforced control arms and a mandatory rear sway bar. Power-assisted discs and drums provide braking, while turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through buff DynoMax Super Turbo mufflers. And at the corners of the car, color-keyed Styled Steel IIs spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around stainless trim rings and rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR For what was meant be a somewhat stripped-down Cutlass, the Rallye 350's interior offers plenty of visual niceties that give it a much more upscale feel. Open the doors to find sophisticated side panels that are accented with bright stainless and rich wood applique. Step past the Fisher Body sill plates and you'll find clean black carpet that's plush and fade-free. A nicely finished combination of bucket and bench seats mixes a stylish pattern with plenty of support. Between those seats, a factory console frames a long Hurst shifter. Above that console, an ornate dash hangs full telemetry over a standard AM/FM radio. The driver stays connected to the road through a correct Custom Sport steering wheel. And the passengers stow their essentials next to a fifth Styled Steel II/Firestone Wide Oval combination that's housed in a fully restored trunk. And today, when you're looking to grab a piece of Detroit's finest iron without closing out your retirement, a numbers-matching Oldsmobile is one of the smartest purchases on the market. There's no reason a blue chip classic should cost more than the mortgage on your house. And there's ABSOLUTELY no reason spending six figures of your hard earned money shouldn't get you a distinguished award winner like this incredible W-30. 1 of only 1,032 W-30 4-speed Holiday coupes built for the 1970 model year, this freshly restored Olds pairs an original, 455 cubic inch V8 with a tough Muncie 4-speed and correct Platinum on Black aesthetics. And if you're the kind of gearhead who likes to take their hardware to the show, it's the lust worthy trophy king you've been saving for! BODYWORK/TRIM Assembled in Lansing, Michigan during the fourth week of October, 1969, this awesome Oldsmobile is an impeccably maintained classic that still features all of its original sheetmetal. During an extensive, rotisserie restoration that was completed in the Spring of 2014, that solid profile was decked in correct Platinum base, trimmed with sinister stripes and sealed in glossy clear. And today, the car rolls as one razor-sharp coupe that mixes minimalist looks with a no-nonsense demeanor. Like all second generation A-bodies, the 442 continued to get better year after year. The car's clean, boxy lines were no doubt a play on its parent division's engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy, and the resulting design continues to weather exceptionally well. At the front of this coupe, a 442-specific grille centers monochromatic "442" lettering between stainless-trimmed T3 headlights and a bright chrome bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye to a new windshield that, along with the car's all-original greenhouse, rides behind straight stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, traditional GM handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement clean marker lamps, dent-free wheel rings and a slick combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a smooth decklid hangs more monochromatic "442" lettering above a second chrome bumper, silver-trimmed taillights and correct, trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE It's not immediately apparent why this Olds' body carries so much sizzle; that is, until you see what's under its hood. Twist the locks, fling the resin and you'll find 455 cubic inches of Rocket V8 that hangs a correct 396021F casting number over a matching partial VIN. Stomp the throttle and a restored Quadrajet 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct W-30 air cleaner, and shoves it in to a high performance, aluminum intake. Mechanically, the stout mill is all day reliable, spinning 500 lb./ft. of rock-crushing torque from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. Aesthetically, familiar plastic fenders and Metallic Blue block skin look fantastic against the car's Platinum body. There's a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes American Autowire wiring and a new 4-core Harrison radiator. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its fresh decals and vivid firewall stamps to its tagged brake lines and color-keyed intake springs. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 455 fronts a correct close-ratio Muncie, which was professionally rebuilt in the fall of 2013. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt, which employs moderate, highway-friendly gears. That smooth driveline hangs in a familiar heavy-duty suspension, which, along with the car's chassis, was thoroughly sandblasted and powder-coated during the rotisserie reboot. Solid stops are provided by rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes. Turns come courtesy of an old school manual steering rack. At the center of the car, a correct Gardner exhaust system funnels spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on powder-coated steelies, which spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around dog dish hubcaps. INTERIOR Inside this impressive coupe, you'll find a Black Legendary interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh carpet that's protected by Cutlass floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests in bright chrome handles, straight stainless trim and fresh wood applique. A wood-trimmed dash hangs basic telemetry above an old school AM radio. At the base of that dash, a slim boot frames a broad Hurst shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a bright rocket emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth steel wheel and fifth Firestone tire between a small light, correct tools and a fresh mat. HISTORICAL INFORMATION It's pretty easy to confirm this handsome Oldsmobile's status as an authentic 442. Here's a look at the car's 442-specific VIN and Cowl Tag. 1978 Olds Delta 88 Royale. Olds 350 V8, 68k original miles, runs great, shifts great, no problems. All maintenance done. I am the second owner. I purchased it from a gentleman who bought it new and took very good care of it. It was his first car and he did anything to the car that it needed. He kept it and or I have kept it in a garage or carport its entire life. Original North Carolina car, been in North Carolina its whole life. I have a copy of the original NC title. He had it repainted its original color and it looks good, Russet brown with tan vinyl interior. He had the vinyl top replaced and clear coated, some of the clear coat is on the paint near the top where they didn't mask it well as seen in picture, could be buffed out, didn't really bother me. The headliner was replaced. The seats are in good condition and no rips, looks like no one has sat in the back. Recently, I put some original quarter emblems and a nicer trunk lock cover on it. Car was never smoked in, the ashtray and lighter are like new. The cover behind the steering wheel is a little cracked and the carpet under the driver mat is worn, cant really tell unless you look behind steering wheel or under mat. A/C blows cold, heat works and the cruise control works. It has power locks and tilt wheel. Original spare and jack in the trunk. Tires are basically new. I've put non ethanol high test gasoline in the time that I've owned it. Very clean car and you will not be disappointed. Not a perfect car but its reasonably priced. Horn works, lights work. No warning lights on. It has power steering and power brakes. I wouldn't be scared to drive this car cross country. One picture of the car has a 1978 Mississippi sample plate on it, we can run YOM plates here in NC and I did it for fun. Thanks and God bless.
