1954 Oldsmobile Custom I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. We think this car was customized in 1959-1960 and the interior replaced at a later time. My father got this car some time back and we did what the car needed to bring it back close to its glory! We had plans to drive and show occasionally, but sometimes life has other plans, and we have decided to sell it to someone who we hope will give it a good home. A True Survivor. One of less than 500 made! Own a piece of history. This is a Mostly Original 1901 Oldsmobile Runabout. In their time, they were referred to as Doctors' Wagons. This car had a side crank so the driver could start the car from the front seat. It has a two-speed transmission, center chain drive and mechanical brake on the transmission. The original engine was a one-cylinder horizontal style with 4.5 horsepower. This one sports the original chassis, wheels, drivetrain, brake and transmission. The motor has been replaced with a Honda 5hp. There has been some necessary woodwork done evidently, throughout the life of this car. All necessary on a 100+ year old wood-bodied vehicle. Some of the original remains, surprisingly enough, and, everything done was done professionally to good effect. This one was found in a warehouse several years ago. It sports a California Horseless Carriage Tag. We have no title. We have no VIN to get one. Maybe all of this can be traced through California DMV if it is necessary. Maybe you won't need to, if you are buying this for your collection or to drive in parades or exhibitions. Vehicle is still warehoused in Jacksonville, FL.
