For sale is my 1954 MG TF which was subject to a complete 1 ½ year body off frame extensive restoration. Every part has been restored or replaced to factory specifications. The attention to its final details puts this classic sports car in a class of its own. I am the third owner of this California car. It was originally purchased by a man in the military who was based in Northern California who sold it in 1959 when he was being sent overseas. The car was bought by a couple who also lived in the bay area until they relocated to Southern California. They drove the car up until 1968 then parked it in their garage where it sat until I purchased it in September 2013. I have the original California DMV issued black and yellow plates that were on the car when I purchased it. The last registration sticker on the license plate is 1968. When I bought the car I was just finishing the restoration of another car so the MG sat until January 2014 before I was able to start working on it. Now that it’s complete the car is fresh and absolutely gorgeous with approx 75 test miles on it. This car is ready to be shown at a local, regional or national level and should score very high. Or it could be driven and enjoyed for many years to come. Listed below is what was completed during its extensive restoration. If you have any questions please contact me via e-mail or phone. BODY TUB AND PANELS: The entire car was disassembled and each panel inspected to determine necessary repairs. The body tub was stripped to bare metal with automotive paint remover while the fenders and all ancillary pieces were media blasted. We then sprayed a coat of etching primer on all pieces to protect them from flash rusting. The body tub showed no evidence of any prior damages with only a few slight dings and small dents primarily on the fenders. There was absolutely no rust anywhere on the car. We found a few minor wooden pieces that were dry so they were replaced with new pieces. Once the superficial dings and dents were repaired each piece was painted with numerous coats of epoxy primer then block sanded smooth. The body and all the other pieces were then reassembled back on the chassis to verify their fit and to adjust the gaps and alignment. Hours were spent to achieve a near perfect fit of the doors using new hinges and latches. At this point of the restoration I decided to modify the bonnet to allow improved access to the engine. Following a fellow Vintage MG Club member I cut the side panels where they are behind the front fender allowing the (now) top panel to be removed from the car offering full access to the carburetors on the right and distributor on the left side. When installed there is no trace what so ever of the modification. This is certainly something the factory should have done! Once I was satisfied with the body fit and panel alignment it was once again taken apart and readied for paint. After numerous coats of primer and hours of block sanding we applied multiple coats of single stage urethane paint. Once sufficiently dry each panel was color sanded then buffed to a high gloss. We chose to paint the car Rossa Corsa which is a very rich nonmetallic red that is synonymous with Ferrari Red. The color looks magnificent which is further highlighted by the new tan interior and top. All chrome and stainless steel pieces were either re-plated or polished to a high sheen. The grille shell is perfect as is all other bright work including the windscreen frame (with new glass), bumpers, lights and all inside and outside latches and handles. All fasteners are the original factory Whitworth or metric type throughout the car. They have been cleaned, lightly polished then zinc plated. INTERIOR & WEATHER EQUIPMENT: All new interior wood pieces were fabricated including floor boards and a complete side curtain box assembly using cabinet quality Baltic Birch plywood. Once their fit was verified all pieces were painted a flat black as was the factory wood. The seats were disassembled and rebuilt using medium density foam then covered with tan leather. All interior panels are new including the front kick panels, the rear quarter panels and the door panels which were all installed by a professional auto upholstery shop. The tan canvas top, tonneau cover and new side curtains were also professionally installed. Finishing off the beautiful new interior is short cut pile tan carpeting matching what was originally used by the factory. There is also a contrasting black shift lever boot sewn into the carpet. ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN: This is a number matching car meaning that the factory designated engine number matches the number on the ID plates and it is therefore the original factory installed engine. As part of our restoration process the engine was completely rebuilt with new and original parts. After complete dis-assembly the block and cylinder head were sent to the machine shop to be cleaned. The cylinders measured 0.40 overbore and received just a slight honing. The crankshaft was inspected and balanced along with the lightened flywheel and clutch. The connecting rods along with the pistons were in excellent condition and were reinstalled with new rings. The cylinder head was inspected then the valves were reseated and a newly rebuilt rocker shaft assembly installed. The 1 ½” SU carburetors were rebuilt, tuned and balanced. A rebuilt water pump was installed as was the original Lucas distributor and a rebuilt high output SU fuel pump. The coil, five wire control box were tested and checked out to be in fine working order. We fit a new Bell stainless steel exhaust system to the engine. The cooling radiator was acid washed and pressure tested to be found in working condition. All new rubber hoses and fan belt were installed along with a 160 degree thermostat. The gear box was inspected and thoroughly cleaned then reassembled with new gaskets. The internals of the gearbox was found to be in excellent condition. The driveshaft was rebuilt, balanced and new u-joints installed. The differential was inspected and found to be in fine working condition needing only a fluid change. The fuel tank was sent to an automotive chemical stripper where it was subject to an acid bath to remove any old fuel and contaminates from its insides. The tank was found to be very solid requiring no further work. The engine and gearbox were painted a dark red to match the factory color while the rest of the drivetrain was painted a semi-gloss/satin black as was done by the factory. The valve cover is painted a dull silver to match the factory color. The engine received a complete detail with paint and newly plated fasteners and the correct air cleaners installed since the photos were taken. CHASSIS, SUSPENSION, STEERING AND BRAKES: Once completely dis-assembled the chassis along with all the suspension and brake pieces were sent to the media blaster where they were thoroughly cleaned of all grease and grime. After all the parts were inspected and any necessary repairs completed they were sent to be powder coated a semi-gloss/satin black. The re-assembly of the suspension included all new bushings, seals and bearings. The original Girling shock absorbers were rebuilt by a reputable antique shock rebuilding company. The rear road springs were also dis-assembled and powder coated black then refitted with new pads, shackle pins and U-bolts. All 5 original wire wheels were carefully media blasted then painted to match the factory original silver color. Fitted to the wheels are 5 new Firestone F 560 165-R-15 radial tires with new tubes. The steering rack and pinion was thoroughly cleaned, inspected then painted and re-assembled with new tie rod ends, rack seal boots and rebuilt couplings. The steering shafts were powder coated then re-assembled with new upper column spring cover and caps and column clamp assemblies. A new original factory style steering wheel and center assembly was also installed. The brake system also received a complete rebuild and restoration. We began with the master cylinder which was sent out to be re-sleeved and rebuilt as was all six wheel cylinders. The brake drums were resurfaced then powder coated black. Along with new brake shoes, springs and hoses the factory fluid lines were thoroughly cleaned and retained. The handbrake assembly was re-chromed to a high shine and fitted with a new grip handle and is working perfectly. All chassis, suspension, steering and brakes components were assembled with a high degree of detail. Every piece was either painted or powder coated in a semi-gloss/satin black and assembled with new or re-plated original fasteners. The entire underside of the car is as nicely detailed as is the rest of the car. ELECTRICAL: A complete new factory style lacquer-braided wiring harness was installed throughout the car including the under dash sub-harness. All electrical components were tested and rebuilt as necessary and are in perfect working condition. The generator, starter, voltage regulator, and turn signal indicator relay are all date appropriate. The twin horns, windscreen wipers and turn signals were tested and adjusted and are working as they should. All the lamps, lights and lenses are new. OVERALL: This car is in near perfect condition. It runs well and looks absolutely gorgeous. We started with a very sound and solid California car and have achieved our goal of building a show winning TF. Although the car has yet to be shown it should do very well in any level of show competition. Show it or drive it, it was built to be enjoyed! If you would like to see the car or have someone else inspect it please contact me at 714-609-3685. International buyers are welcome and I will assist however I can with the shipping process.

0 0 1 609 3474 Goodman Reed Corporation 28 8 4075 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is our striking 1955 MG TF 1500 with its original, numbers matching engine and transmission and finished in gorgeous Dark Green over a Biscuit leather interior with a tan canvas soft top. Always a California car that spent a vast majority of its life in the arid climate of the Central Valley, the car was used as a weekend driver/survivor between the 1970s and 2007. At that point it received a cosmetic refurbishing and mechanical sorting, and from that point forward it has been used sparingly on pleasant days, always garage-kept and maintained and never subjected to the elements. The result of this refurbishing and subsequent careful use is a wonderful turn-key example, needing nothing to be enjoyed. As the pictures show, the dark green finish is entirely consistent without any significant imperfections or evidence of rust. The chrome trim is all in excellent condition, as is the welting between the body panels, and the steel wheels are in great shape and wrapped in Dunlop radial tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car’s interior was completely reupholstered in beautifully offsetting Biscuit leather and remains in excellent condition, the leather seats and interior panels appearing virtually as new, the carpets entirely presentable and the dash clean and correct, housing the original octagonal Jaeger gauges, indisputably some of the most aesthetically appealing gauges produced in the era. Lastly, the car’s frame and undercarriage are solid and correct with no structural rust or corrosion to speak of, a testament to the car’s dry California existence. Believed to have amassed only 64k miles in its 60 years of service, the original numbers matching XPEG 1500 engine is strong and sound, firing up easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly through each of the original 4-speed transmission’s gears. Despite its sparing use, the car was always maintained as needed and it runs and drives beautifully. There seems to be no propensity for overheating, the ride quality is visceral and sporty (as it should be), and after having thoroughly enjoyed a few dozen miles up and down the Santa Barbara coastline, we’d not hesitate to take this lovely driver out on an extended tour. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a timelessly beautiful, very original MG TF 1500 finished in what is undoubtedly one of the very best liveries. An example that’s in turn-key condition, its been well-loved by its previous California owners and will undoubtedly provide its next with decades of trusty, grin-inducing service. We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed. Goodman Reed Motorcars We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic rotating collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this TF 1500 (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

1952 MG TD in beauiful condition. This vehicle was purchased as a family project and was restored to the current beautiful condition over several years. The restoration was completed 5 years ago and has been kept in the garage covered when not being driven. Very low miles since restoration (estimated at 250 miles) and has never seen rain or dirty roads. We took the car to the North Meets South Paradise British Car Club Car Show and it won 1st in class. It has't been outside our home area since (it was trailered there). A tremendous amount of hours and work has gone into this restoration with more details than we can list. If you're serious about finding an MG TD like this, we encourage you to see this car in person. -All new chrome by a professional shop (bumpers/trim/grill/headlight buckets/door handles/windsheild frames, etc.) -New soft top from Moss Motors -New paint and clear coat (fenders and panels were removed during paint). Paint is a 9.5/10 and has not even been buffed or color sanded since new. It only has wax. -All new leather interior from Moss Motors -Gauges all work. Speedo and tach were calibrated this year. -Carburetors were just rebuilt and rebushed by SUcarbs.com -We recently refreshed the top end of the engine by having the cylinder head rebuilt and surfaced and installed new pistons/rings and head gasket. -Pertronix ignition and coil -New brakes/wheels cylinders/bearings/seals -New wood floorboard underneath new interior -Sidecurtain frames (freshly powercoated) included -All new Moss Motors exhaust system -Electrical system has been gone through, checked and repaired as need. -New brass door hinges that have been installed and fitted properly -Aftermarket heater -Original windsheld -Original tailight glass lenses -New rubbers, door seals, running board seals, fender webbing throughout entire car -Radiator was completely restored as new -Powdercoated inner grill -Powercoated wheels -Gas tank has been completely cleaned and sealed to accomodate modern fuel (10% ethanol), new sender w/ Viton seal -New facet electric fuel pump -Driveshaft has been rebuilt with new u-joints and balanced -New radial tires -Original steering wheel has been completely restored by a specialist -And much more....too much to list. The car runs and drives excellent and turns heads everywhere it goes. The pictures don't do the car justice, I encourage serious buyers to come see the car in person in Orange, California. Many pictures below, wait for them to load. You can view all pictures here: http://s118.photobucket.com/user/conoval21/slideshow/1952%20MG%20TD

ORIGINAL DOVE GREY WITH RED TRIM. 4-SPEED. WIRE WHEELS. EXCELLENT, RARE CALIFORNIA CAR NEEDING COMPLETION. 1 OF ONLY 3000 MADE. Up for sale here on Ebay, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very good MG TF 1500. This car was recently purchased from a restoration shop locally here in California that was in the process of restoring this car for the previous owner. Unfortunately, the owner's finances changed and the car sat for some years before eventually being sold. Significant restoration work included a complete rebuild of the front and rear suspension including bushes, wheel cylinders, brakes, flexy lines, upper and lower trunnions, steering boots, seals, new rear springs, rebuilt shock absorbers, painted and detailed components. The engine (a replaced 1250cc unit) was also completely rebuilt with a boring and new pistons and rings, bearings, reground camshaft and lifters, timing chain, rebuilt cylinder head with new parts, seals, gaskets, new water pump, etc. It was correctly painted in MG Maroon with a nice alloy, finned valve cover. The car is currently painted silver but appears to have left the factory in the very attractive color scheme of Dove Grey with red trim. The rest of the car needs general, easy restoration and appears relatively complete. The sheetmetal and wood looks excellent and super solid. Body and paintwork should be straightforward. Overall, the MG TF 1500 is the most desirable of the " T" models. This car has had a very good start with much money and time spent so far. It offers good value and investment potential. Well priced at $12,950. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. This car is sold with a clear title and is available for inspection by appointment. This car is located in Southern California, 35 minutes (30 miles) from the Los Angeles Port of Long Beach. Please look at our other offerings. Description 1954 MG-TF 1250 ROADSTER. WIRE WHEELS. 4 SPEED. MATCHING NUMBERS ENGINE. BEAUTIFUL TRIPLE BLACK COLOR SCHEME. GOOD DRIVER. Offered for sale here on eBay, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS is a very attractive and usable MG TF. This model was the final of the T-series MG's and is arguably the prettiest and most user friendly of the bunch. This car was recently purchased from a long term family ownership. Much recent mechanical work has been completed to make this car a good driver. The brake system on this car has been completely rebuilt with a new master cylinder, flexy brake lines, and rebuilt wheel cylinders. The fuel tank was removed and completely boiled out and cleaned, repainted in black, and a new fuel pump has been fitted. The rest of the fuel system has been serviced and cleaned, new ignition tune up parts have been installed, newer tires have also been fitted. The car starts on the button, runs and drives well, but the clutch is a little grabby on the release, most likely because of its lack of use. The engine compartment is highly original and could benefit from a detail at some point. The body and paint on the car overall is very decent. It's an older paint job in driver quality condition, now showing its age with some usual chips and dings from over the years. It is nice and glossy overall. There was some minor damage to the right hand side hood that when repaired, the paint cracked a little (see photo). Included in the sale are most of the chrome fender moldings that need to be installed. The wood on the car appears very solid. The car has recently benefited from the fitting of a new soft top and a repainted soft top frame. The black carpets have also been renewed, the seats are very comfortable and in very good condition, the instrument panel is covered with a non original wood grain layer that could be easily removed. The undercarriage appears very solid, original, and straight with some minor surface rust. We are currently in the process of replacing the muffler, which will be completed by the time of the sale. Overall a fun and enjoyable motorcar that runs and drives well as is, with very nice usable paint, trim, and chrome. It could benefit from some cosmetic improvements down the road. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. This car is sold with a clear title and is available for inspection by appointment. This car is located in Southern California, only 1 hour from the Los Angeles Port of Long Beach. Please look at our other offerings. Description 1948 MGTC ROADSTER. BRITISH RACING GREEN WITH BLACK TRIM. WIRE WHEELS. EXCELLENT OLDER GROUND-UP RESTORATION. CHASSIS #TC7820 Offered for sale, here on Ebay, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this attractive and handsome MGTC Roadster. This car spent most all of it's life in the ownership of a family in Florida, where the car was very well-preserved. This MG received a comprehensive ground-up, body-off-the-chassis there approximately 15 years ago, and is still presenting extremely well. It is fitted with an alloy/wood steering wheel. The body and paintwork is extremely nice as well as all of the brightwork. Panel fit is very good. A new wiring harness was fitted during the restoration. It still retains it's original Lucas headlamp set. The dashboard and instruments are very pretty. It is believed that the engine was completely rebuilt during the restoration. There are some appropriate dress-up alloy components fitted to the engine which gives it a competition look. An alternator has been fitted for reliability. The car starts on the button and runs extremely well with great oil pressure and no smoke. It runs, drives, shifts, and stops as expected. The car's undercarriage is still extremely crisp and clean with a full stainless exhaust system fitted. All suspension components are nicely greased and operating correctly. This lovely car offers very good value in the current market when one considers current restoration costs. It has excellent, fresher cosmetics compared to some of it's tired-looking counterparts.
