This is an honest and driveable 1952 MG TD that had been sitting awhile in the previous owner’s garage. The vehicle is solid and complete. It starts and runs without hesitation. The previous owners had replaced the original steering wheel with a smaller aftermarket one and “upgraded” the air cleaner with velocity stacks. The body and chassis are solid. The fenders have minor dings and dents from 65 years of touring. The vehicle was painted green about 30 years ago and has help protect the body from rust. There is a rust spot to the rear of the driver next to the fuel filler. Perhaps from too many years of "topping it up". The non-original but period correct XPAG engine has been overhauled in the past, bored out .040 over and the crank turned .010. We honed the cylinders and installed new rings. The engine itself shows minimal oil leaks for an English engine and no smoke to speak of. The engine received a major tune-up with new cap, rotor, points wires, etc. The oil was changed after the rings had been broken in. The radiator rubber hoses were all replaced. The engine now operates at about 80° Centigrade and 25# of oil pressure at idle. The fuel system has been totally flushed out. The fuel tank was removed and flushed and a new low fuel level sender was installed. The fuel lines and fuel pump were flushed. The carburetors were dissembled, cleaned and rebuilt. All the fluids in the transmission and rear end were drained and replaced with new. The hydraulic braking system has been completely overhauled with new master and wheel cylinders, new rubber brake hoses and new brake shoes. The handbrake system has new cables and works as should. The vehicle has a newer top and tonneau cover in excellent condition. There are no side curtains currently with the vehicle. The interior is in good condition. Upon further inspection it appears as if the original seat covers are underneath but the condition is unknown. A new battery has been installed along with a new generator and voltage regulator. The electrical systems were verified that they work properly, charging, lighting and other features such as horn and wipers. The cockpit has the optional heater installed. The fan has been verified as working and all the plumbing is there but not hooked into the radiator. All the instruments (Speedo, Tach, Ammeter, Oil Pressure and Temp) work as should. We have not wound the clock in the tach but guarantee that it is correct twice a day.Four new tires have been installed to provide a smooth ride. There is nothing required on this vehicle before it can be enjoyed. The vehicle is currently licensed with Antique Plates. It is a daily driver that will get you almost anywhere, albeit at 55 MPH. Here is an opportunity to have a unique vehicle to drive in the country to watch the leaves change and then if you desire have a manageable project over winter to restore it to a higher level for the Spring car shows. We have tried to provide as much information as possible with the description and photos. If there are other questions please contact us. As always it is strongly suggested that a personal inspection be arranged to help insure that this vehicle meets your expectations.

Two extra chrome plated stone guards for spotlights, (never used or fitted). Bonnet has ventilation louvres pressed into it. OVERALL ASSESSMENT This car is mechanically sound in everyway. After 26 odd years it is an excellent reliable driver in eye catching condition. It has never been driven in snow, salt, rain, has never been wet and has always been kept in a waxed and polished condition. During the past 6 years I have started the engine on a regular basis and have driven it short distances to check the brakes and to ensure oil and grease have reached the correct spots. The oil pressure is 40 psi when hot. I am no longer able to get into it owing to two replacement knees and advancing arthritis.

This 1952 MG TD is a very special example of this classic roadster. It is finished in gleaming red with tan leather interior. This TD is in excellent condition, upgraded with wire wheels, front disc brakes and 5-speed synchromesh transmission. These modifications make it drive like the car that it should have been so you can drive with spirit and cleanly and seamlessly go through the gears and have the confidence that it will stop well too with the very effective front disc brakes. This is a matching numbers car. The TD underwent a complete, professional engine rebuild in 2012, and has driven very little since. The lever arm shocks were rebuilt and provides a tight comfortable ride. The tires, top, side curtains, tonneau cover, chrome, lights and instruments are all in great condition. This car is beautiful and is ready to be driven anywhere with confidence. There is also a good amount of history from its import to the USA in 1971 and several photos of the restoration. There are a few small blemishes on the paintwork and a small nick on one of the seats. The underside is clean and the car is rust free. I bought this car to use for some club rally's but owing to some family demands, I am unable to use it as envisioned. Would like it to go to an appreciative enthusiast who appreciates the marque and is interested in the greatly enhanced experience that the 5 speed and disc brakes afford.

1952 MG TD in beauiful condition. This vehicle was purchased as a family project and was restored to the current beautiful condition over several years. The restoration was completed 5 years ago and has been kept in the garage covered when not being driven. Very low miles since restoration (estimated at 250 miles) and has never seen rain or dirty roads. We took the car to the North Meets South Paradise British Car Club Car Show and it won 1st in class. It has't been outside our home area since (it was trailered there). A tremendous amount of hours and work has gone into this restoration with more details than we can list. If you're serious about finding an MG TD like this, we encourage you to see this car in person. -All new chrome by a professional shop (bumpers/trim/grill/headlight buckets/door handles/windsheild frames, etc.) -New soft top from Moss Motors -New paint and clear coat (fenders and panels were removed during paint). Paint is a 9.5/10 and has not even been buffed or color sanded since new. It only has wax. -All new leather interior from Moss Motors -Gauges all work. Speedo and tach were calibrated this year. -Carburetors were just rebuilt and rebushed by SUcarbs.com -We recently refreshed the top end of the engine by having the cylinder head rebuilt and surfaced and installed new pistons/rings and head gasket. -Pertronix ignition and coil -New brakes/wheels cylinders/bearings/seals -New wood floorboard underneath new interior -Sidecurtain frames (freshly powercoated) included -All new Moss Motors exhaust system -Electrical system has been gone through, checked and repaired as need. -New brass door hinges that have been installed and fitted properly -Aftermarket heater -Original windsheld -Original tailight glass lenses -New rubbers, door seals, running board seals, fender webbing throughout entire car -Radiator was completely restored as new -Powdercoated inner grill -Powercoated wheels -Gas tank has been completely cleaned and sealed to accomodate modern fuel (10% ethanol), new sender w/ Viton seal -New facet electric fuel pump -Driveshaft has been rebuilt with new u-joints and balanced -New radial tires -Original steering wheel has been completely restored by a specialist -And much more....too much to list. The car runs and drives excellent and turns heads everywhere it goes. The pictures don't do the car justice, I encourage serious buyers to come see the car in person in Orange, California. Superb example of a MG TD. This TD is a 1951 model and is in excellent mechanical and body condition. It is right hand drive and I have the original log book showing the English owners before it was shipped to the USA in which appears to be around 1969. The car in in Ivory White with green interior. My British Expert mechanic has gone over the car in detail and only found some leaky hoses to be a problem, and has replaced them all. The speedometer was just rebuilt and works great The car underwent a complete engine rebuild in 2012 and I have receipts. The car starts on the button and drives really well. I have a book with receipts over the years and some additional photos. I bought this car to take back to England with me and now my plans have changed and would like to move it on to a good MG enthusiast who is looking for a fairly trouble free MG TD that drives well and does not need much work, if any. The only item I have found to not be correct is the ammeter gauge which is a black background, and not the white original. The tachometer has intermittent operation, which, I am told, is not unusual for an instrument of this age. Please contact me with any questions. On May-14-15 at 09:51:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Right hand drive

This a 1954 MG TF, HDE 43/2702, engine XPAG TF/32586 (1250cc). Originally green, it was manufactured on 22 January 1954. The engine and body numbers match factory records, but the original makers plate as well as the body number plate on the underside of the tool box are missing. Blank replacement plates are included. The car number 2702 is stamped into the left front frame extension, and the engine number 32586 is on the bronze plaque on the engine. The car was in running condition when the previous owner purchased it in 1978. He began a restoration effort two years later. The restoration effort did not progress past the disassembly phase, although the body tub was completely rebuilt with new wood by William Thompson of Greensboro, North Carolina. New door latches and handles were fitted. The replacement wood floor boards are unused. The car and all its parts have been stored in a garage since 1980. Most of the mechanicals appear to be OEM. All instruments are present. The tachometer and speedometer were tested for operation with a slow-speed drill and appear to function normally. The white paint on the needles and numbers is somewhat yellow and cracked in spots. The odometer has 78,549 miles on it. I have no way to verify that this is accurate. Oil pressure, water temperature and ammeter gauges have not been tested. The windscreen wiper system is complete including the motor, which has been re-greased and tests good. The windscreen itself is complete with the chrome in excellent condition. The generator and starter bench-tested good. Both horns refurbished and painted black; good sound. The original interior panels are absent, but a tan interior panel kit and a tan leather seat kit from Moss Motors are included. The seats are presently black vinyl and have obviously been recovered. The hood is a black AMCO replacement, as are the four side curtain coverings. These are in fair-to-good condition and would probably be useable, but are far from show condition. The plastic windows are moderately yellowed with age. The engine can be turned with the hand crank, but it appears to have been rebuilt shortly before the previous owner purchased the car: the printing on the face of the clutch plate is still legible, and the gaskets show little sign of extended engine operation. The transmission shifter moves smoothly between all gears. 1-1/2 inch SU carbs with low profile chrome air cleaners are present, as is an untested fuel pump. The frame is straight as measured on the major diagonals. The left wing has been inexpertly leaded along the outside edge of the headlamp protrusion as well as an area toward the front outside of the wing. The front outside of the right wing has a few minor dents. My local body shop stated it would take them about 10 hours of labor to correct the wings and get them ready for final painting. There are no creases or tears in the wing sheet metal. The rest of the sheet metal is in excellent shape - great shape actually. All of the sheet metal has been cleaned and primed - albeit years ago - except for the gas tank which retains what may possibly be the original dark green paint color. There is no evidence of rust or pitting except for very minor surface rust where the primer has been scratched by handling over the years. All the sheet metal appears to be original, with the exception of the inspection panels and gas tank end panels, which are replacements. Also, the previous owner replaced many pieces - mainly the chrome - and discarded the originals. Radiator shell and slats in very good condition. The wheels are 60-spoke painted wires. They are not original to the car but were added by the previous owner. The tires are worn and must be replaced; they hold air but are suitable only for moving the vehicle around the shop or for slow-speed towing. The muffler has a hole in it and will require replacement. Most rubber parts will need to be replaced. Many new ones are included with the car. The radiator and gas tank appear to be in good shape, but both have been empty for nearly 35 years. There is just a wee bit of oil in the engine sump, not enough to register on the dipstick. Overall, the car is roughly 98 % complete. In general all the big pieces and most of the little ones are present. However, I’ve verified the following items are absent: - All four bumper overriders - Rugs - Rear bumper backbar - Both floorboard supports under transmission tunnel - Fuel line adapter at tank as well as the tank drain plug - Cowl dashboard trim rail (wood) and pad - Exhaust flange nuts and studs (3) - Battery - Miscellaneous nuts, bolts and spacers Additionally, there are many spare parts such as voltage regulators, horns, and non-TF generators, fuel pumps, starters and carbs. An engine stand, engine hoist, and Whitworth spanners and sockets are included. There’s also two or three boxes of GM parts. There is no title, only a Bills of Sale going back two owners before me. In Pennsylvania, non-running, disassembled autos are not issued titles until they are returned to running condition. INSPECTION: I strongly encourage you or your representative to inspect the car before bidding. I have done my best to accurately describe the state of the car with this description and the photos. WARRANTY: The car is sold “as is”. There is no warranty implied or expressed. PICKUP: PICKUP MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION. HOWEVER, THIS REQUIREMENT IS NEGOTIABLE IF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES REQUIRE MORE TIME. OTHERWISE, IF NOT PICKED UP WITHIN THIS TIME FRAME, YOU FORFEIT ALL RIGHTS TO THE CAR. DOWNPAYMENT WILL NOT BE RETURNED. THE CAR WILL BE RE-LISTED FOR AUCTION. SHIPPING: Shipping and transportation are entirely the responsibility of the winning bidder. The rolling chassis is nearly 12’ long.A car trailer and truck or a 17-foot long truck would be necessary to accommodate the chassis and the rest of the disassembled parts. Most parts are in cardboard boxes although some are in closed plastic tubs; all the sheet metal is loose. The car is in a garage at my home, from which you must pick it up. I can assist you or your representative with preparing the loading, but you must ensure all necessary equipment and helpers are available to load the car into your choice of transport vehicle.
