0 0 1 609 3474 Goodman Reed Corporation 28 8 4075 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is our striking 1955 MG TF 1500 with its original, numbers matching engine and transmission and finished in gorgeous Dark Green over a Biscuit leather interior with a tan canvas soft top. Always a California car that spent a vast majority of its life in the arid climate of the Central Valley, the car was used as a weekend driver/survivor between the 1970s and 2007. At that point it received a cosmetic refurbishing and mechanical sorting, and from that point forward it has been used sparingly on pleasant days, always garage-kept and maintained and never subjected to the elements. The result of this refurbishing and subsequent careful use is a wonderful turn-key example, needing nothing to be enjoyed. As the pictures show, the dark green finish is entirely consistent without any significant imperfections or evidence of rust. The chrome trim is all in excellent condition, as is the welting between the body panels, and the steel wheels are in great shape and wrapped in Dunlop radial tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car’s interior was completely reupholstered in beautifully offsetting Biscuit leather and remains in excellent condition, the leather seats and interior panels appearing virtually as new, the carpets entirely presentable and the dash clean and correct, housing the original octagonal Jaeger gauges, indisputably some of the most aesthetically appealing gauges produced in the era. Lastly, the car’s frame and undercarriage are solid and correct with no structural rust or corrosion to speak of, a testament to the car’s dry California existence. Believed to have amassed only 64k miles in its 60 years of service, the original numbers matching XPEG 1500 engine is strong and sound, firing up easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly through each of the original 4-speed transmission’s gears. Despite its sparing use, the car was always maintained as needed and it runs and drives beautifully. There seems to be no propensity for overheating, the ride quality is visceral and sporty (as it should be), and after having thoroughly enjoyed a few dozen miles up and down the Santa Barbara coastline, we’d not hesitate to take this lovely driver out on an extended tour. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a timelessly beautiful, very original MG TF 1500 finished in what is undoubtedly one of the very best liveries. An example that’s in turn-key condition, its been well-loved by its previous California owners and will undoubtedly provide its next with decades of trusty, grin-inducing service. We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed. Goodman Reed Motorcars We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic rotating collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this TF 1500 (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

Purchased in 1978 in San Jose, California from a Naval Officer who used the car for fun and commuting back and forth to Moffett Field Naval Base. It is a head-turning car, fun to drive with a car club or just to take out for a little joyriding. As was the case with some MG-TD owners — the car was restored and modified over the years to suit the taste and imagination of the owner. The original engine compartment plates are in place — with matching VID/Body numbers. The car is not restored to its original condition. However, it is an excellent car for a complete restoration if desired. The engine is in good running condition. The engine is the original 1250cc 4 cylinder with twin SU carburetors that were modified with independent air filters. It has its original 4 speed manual transmission. It comes with new tires and a complete set of side curtains stored in the back compartment. It has its own tow bar (turn and break lights) that easily attaches to the front bumper to allow for transportation to car events or for relocation. It also comes with the MG Workshop Book, tonneau cover for the driving compartment and a full car cover.

This car has over$ 9,000 in chrome and accessories, garage kept, low miles but cant really see that, wire wheels, new paint but not a pristine show car paint job, clean and almost new looking seats and covers, small repaired tear in back of top about 2 inches long on the window side and hardly shows, doesn't leak,. The rest is just gorgeous, new brakes, battery, all fluids replaced, original except has the TF engine which looks the same but has more power (they put them in the 52's.) Ive owned it since I was 27 and I'm now 68 so it's time to move on. Call for details. My husband is the mechanic, and he's an ol B52 pilot and has certifications. It always started great and now we don't so it's gotta go. I just think it is a head turner. I caught a man with it , so can you!! Well, or a woman!

The Garage Classic Cars, Inc. Is Proud To Offer The MG Midget sport cars produced from 1936 till 1955 are known as the MG Series T-Type Midget. The production was started in 1936 with the TA, after which the TB followed just before the outbreak of world war II. After the war in 1945, the production was continued with the MG TC. In 1949 the MG TD was introduced, after which in 1953 the latest model in the T-series was introduced, the MG TF. The production was stopped in 1955, 20 years after of the first T-type was introduces. The MGA was introduced in 1955, for which the T-types were the predecessor's. The first model set the stage for what the TD was. Because of the short amount of time from the inception of the TD to the delivery of the first cars, not everything was quite as the MG Car Company would have liked it. In fact they were still making TCs on the production line when the first TDs were being produced. In addition, other cars such as the MG Y-type saloon and the Riley RMA and RMB were also being made on the same assembly line at the time. This says something for the flexibility of the Abingdon workforce and of the factory.Apart from revised mountings, the engine for the new MG TD was the same 1250cc XPAG unit fitted to the previous model, the MG TC.There were many subtle changes to the TD, but most were unnoticeable to the untrained eye. One exception was the change from solid steel wheels to ventilated steel wheels. This change was essential because there were complaints that the brakes on the early cars were fading due to inadequate cooling. Another change was to stiffen the chassis by adding an internal steel hoop under the dashboard. This helped to prevent `scuttle shake', although the later chassis still seems to flex quite a bit when pressed into corners. The styling, Safety Fast engineering, The power train are just a few of the features of this cool collector car. This car is original and had been sitting in a gentlemans garage in AZ for a number of years (please see the old reg card dating back to the early 80's). This car was restored over a period of several years and was never on the street. The gentleman passed away before it was complete. All that was needed was a tach cable and a windshield wiper. All of the fluids were drained and replaced. A new battery was installed. The car has been driven approx. 100 miles and in 1 parade. The car runs excellent with no problems. It starts, shifts and stops as it should. No leaks or overheating. Great car for the MG Collector. Intro: For your consideration is this nice condition and nice driving 1989 MG TD convertible replica made by Classic Motor Carriages out of Florida (they purchased FiberFab). This vehicle has just been professionally detailed and cleaned up. This is a get in and drive very presentable vehicle that is ready to be enjoyed. This MG replica is closer to the true thing with having a proper front engine inline four cylinder, rear wheel drive, and a full frame; not a flat four like the VW examples. The suspension, steering, engine, transmission, differential, and etcetera are from the Chevrolet Chevette but with a special frame. While the Chevette is the brunt of many jokes now a days, its engine, trans, and drivetrain is very solid and reliable. Almost 3 million Chevettes were produced so maintenance parts are attainable and can be acquired at local auto parts stores. Also, parts that are unique to the replica can still be sourced from multiple sources (ex: http://mgmagic.homestead.com/). A manual from Classic Motor Carriages with part numbers and assembly information is included as well as a Chevette manual for the drivetrain.Owner’s of these cars state many of the benefits are it costs about ¼ what a true MG TD does, handles better, brakes better, easier to work on, much more reliable, and won’t rust! Also, these Classic Motor Carriages examples are often regarded as the best of the MG TD replicas. The casual automotive enthusiast would not notice that this is a replica car and a MG enthusiast will have to look for the details. This car is fun to just cruise in and gets more smiles and waves than any other sports or exotic car I have owned. Lots of “bang for the buck” in this one. Please view the video, images, and description below to get a clear idea about this MG TD’s condition. Video: A 6 minute long high definition video is provided to better show the condition of this MG TD. The video footage was taken within the last two weeks. To view the video please click play or copy and paste the link. http://youtu.be/aMwmmvp_KP4 There are a few different sections to the clip: 1.) Exterior walk around shows the very nice condition of the body and interior 2.) Start up showing it start easily on the first try (was mildly warm) 3.) Driving clip front view showing the front end. Drives straight and smooth. Engine sounds healthy! The microphone is mounted near the rear and the rattle I believe is coming from the wire wheel hubcap on the spare tire. 4.) Interior driving clip showing the gauges. Great oil pressure. Here is an advertisement from the factory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-9OzeV6EJg Images: 70+ high resolution images of this MG TD are hosted via PhotoBucket. The photos were taken on 10/10/2014. All of the pictures can be seen by either clicking the slide show below, clicking any of the sample images below, or copying and pasting the web address: http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/OldSkoolFool83/library/1989%20MG%20TD%20Replica Images include exterior condition, close ups, interior, engine bay, underbody, and etc. Please look through all of the images. To view an even higher resolution version of an image on Photo Bucket, click “Download” under “Media Options” on the right hand side of the screen. Exterior: The body on this car is made of fiberglass. No rust or dings! The “paint” is actually a gel coat like a boat which is nice as it will not peel or age like paint does. The white is very presentable. It is not concourse glossy but has a shine to it and looks nice. There are no odd textures, over spray, etc. that would commonly be found on traditional finishes. All the panels on this MG are very nice and do not have significant damage and do not show evidence of repair. There are some minor nicks here and there from age and use. The fitment of the panels is nice and it does not look cheap. The chrome is very presentable, recently detailed, and shows typical aging such as minor pitting. A tonneau cover is present and in nice condition. This is probably what most people use for weather protection as it just snaps on very easily and can be stored in the back. The convertible top and frame is present and in overall nice condition but has some tearing at the corners which could be repaired. Extra material is included for repair. The windows are present as well and in nice condition. A top cover, “boot”, is also present. It is nice to have all these extra. The underbody is very nice. The frame still has its black paint and is extremely solid and straight. Absolutely no evidence of damage or repair. It looks like this vehicle was stored in doors most of its life and of course not driven in Wisconsin winters. Overall this is a very complete body that is extremely presentable! Interior: The interior on this MG replica overall is presentable. There is not much too it. Dash is nice as are the gauges. The seat upholstery is good and lacks excessive wear or rips. The carpet is fine and shows normal use. Door panels are good. The steering wheel is kind of generic but is fine. Seat belts are present for driver and passenger. Mechanical: Mechanically this vehicle is overall well sorted and drivers very sweetly. As stated, parts are still available for the Chevette underpinnings and the Classic Motor Carriages bits. The engine starts up easily, usually on the second or third attempt. Let it warm up for a few minutes. It runs smooth and without issue. It idles on its own and sounds healthy. It goes through the RPM range just fine. No smoking, significant drips, burning, etc. The exhaust is good. Some tinkering will be needed for some of the gauges as a new speedometer cable is probably needed, water temp not currently working, and ammeter not currently working. The speedometer states like 8,000 miles. Since it is inoperable I cannot confirm the mileage. The tachometer, fuel level, and oil pressure gauges work. There is good oil pressure. The transmission works appropriately including reverse. It is a three speed Chevy unit that is automatic. A manual transmission could be converted in. The steering is fine. It looks like the left rear spring or shock might be worn as it is lower in that corner so either the shock or spring might need replacement. I believe the rear spring is a Chevette part. The car can still be driven just fine, does not make any odd clunks, etc. Front shocks are new. Tires have a good amount of tread, are older, but multiple seasons should be left in them, and match all around. The brakes are fine and do not seem to need attention. That about sums it up. Overall a very nice running and driving machine that does not need much. Conclusion: As stated, a MG TD replica with a proper inline front 4 cyl, solid rear axle, and full frame is the way to go. In the MG TD replica world, this is about the closest it gets to the real thing. This is a very fun machine and one that gets waves, smiles, and positive comments each time it is out. It is ready to be enjoyed as it is. This vehicle has a clean title in my name. As stated, this is a get in and drive vehicle. Drive it home! Serious buyers, please contact me with questions. Calls between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm central time please. 262-391-1069 This is a serious auction so please treat it as such. If you put in an offer, I may ask to speak with you via phone to confirm it is a serious offer. Putting in an offer or accepting an offer is committing to a contract to purchase this vehicle and all of the following terms. Buyers with "0" feedback will not be allowed to bid prior to speaking with me via phone. I have attempted to describe this vehicle very fairly but it is the buyer’s responsibility to determine their opinion of the vehicle’s condition prior to submitting an offer.
