I have owned this Midget since 1993. It was my daily driver for 10 years, and a weekend car for the past 12 years. I have done regular mechanical maintenance and upgrades (e.g. new wiring, new fuel tank and lines, new steering rack, rebuilt rear end.) It has had Texas tags and safety inspection every year since 1993. Engine: Original 1500cc motor, rebuilt in 2009. Roughly 2,500 miles since the rebuild. Weber 45 DCOE carburetor. It is currently fitted with the original stock exhaust manifold, but the buyer will get a header kit that fits with this carb as part of the deal. All drivetrain work since 2007 done by a reputable Austin shop. Contact info available on request. Drive train: Original 4 speed manual transmission.. Cosmetics: The car got a cosmetic overhaul in 1993-95, including new rubber bits, carpet, dash cover and paint. Seat covers and body panels all predate 1993, and are probably original. There is minor rust on the passenger door which predates my ownership (I can supply a matched pair of Midget doors if desired.) Recent work: New tires & top. New clutch. Upgrades: 70 amp alternator. 1975 MG Midget Convertible. Runs and drives good - it`s ready for some fun, top down, summer cruising! Equipped with the original 4 cylinder engine and 4 speed manual transmission. This car does not have an air conditioner or power steering. It`s easy to steer and who needs an A/C when you`re enjoying the sunshine with the top down? The body is straight and solid. There is one area of minor rust, underhood where the windshield washer bottle mounts. It`s not a big area and I posted a photo with a credit card sized item to show scale size. The car has had one repaint many years ago. It still looks good and shines nicely. There are a few minor blemishes which I posted photos of. The worst area being the left, rear quarter which has some body filler cracking. There is a chipped area on left, front fender, on passenger door - near mirror and a hazy area on the hood. The interior looks to be original. It is not ripped or torn. The carpet is showing wear. The convertible top operates fine (it is a manual top, not power) and is very easy to put up and down. It is not in great shape and will eventually need to be replaced. The battery is brand new. The tires are in great shape. Overall - just a fun, simple car that will give you a smile while driving it. The odometer shows 46,832 at the time this was written. I am not sure but I believe it is the actual miles and the odometer has not rolled over - but I cannot guarantee this. Everything on this car works properly except for the fuel gauge and radio. The fuel gauge reads empty at all times. The radio does not come on. I assume it`s just a fuse but I have not checked it. I invite all potential buyers to come and view the car in person and take it for a test drive. I am located in Pottsboro, Texas (1 hour north of Dallas). For sale is a 1976 MG Midget. Car has 67,000 miles - runs and drives well. No smoke from engine. Starts easy - idles well. Car has the original color yellow paint, but it is not in perfect shape. Paint shines, but has various chips and other imperfections- especially around the edges of the doors. Trunk lid is slightly bent but closes and latches well. Tires match and have good tread left on them. Has brand new spare tire, new chrome trim rings, new dash cap, new shift knob, new fender mirrors and new window crank handles. Car starts first time every time. New brake master cylinder installed. Rubber bumpers are in excellent condition, with no visible marks, cuts or other condition issues. Convertible top closes well, but has small 2 inch tear in rear window on driver's side. A few dents and dings but nothing major. Car is solid and with a little TLC would be a great looker. Driver's seat has rip down the center of the vinyl, so I have put covers over the seats -will need repair. All lights work, including instrument lights. Fuel gauge not operational. Needs brake pads and shoes installed. Cannot be driven away from this location.
