Automotive enthusiasts have considered MGAs as one of the more affordable classic sports cars for some time now. Collectors appreciate the cars’ vintage appeal and quintessential British charm. These "As" share the same traits as their English brethren, like Jaguars, Austin-Healeys, and Triumphs: top-down fun, raspy engines, full gauge instrumentation, and simplicity. Nowadays, MGAs are fetching great interest and offer solid investment potential. A car of this status can only appreciate in value as the years go on. The MGA roadster offered here is a great weekend driver. It's not perfect, but is just right for the enthusiast who has always wanted one. This MG still requires some tinkering and sorting, but what 56 year-old car doesn't? Here's a fine opportunity to get into a very collectible British icon and start living the dream! The MG is a blast to own and drive. This classic is a real crowd-pleaser and will make you and everyone else in its presence smile. MGAs have always had a cult following, epitomizing the sports car formula of top-down motoring, minimal accessory gimmicks, and plenty of charm. You may have always admired these sporty convertibles, or maybe even owned one years ago, but suppose you wanted to purchase one of these appreciating classics now? Unfortunately, over the decades many MGAs have fallen prey to neglect, rust, accidents, or unknowing owners who drove them into the ground. Not this example though; it's a survivor. After five decades, this classic still rides proudly in the essential MG tradition - sporty and thoroughly British. Green exterior resembles the color of money. It shines nicely and is very alluring - not to show standards, but to "driver" quality. You can still polish and wax it, and it'll look great. Body panels, and underside are dry and show no corrosion or paint bubbles. The MG’s sporty, yet traditional interior layout features chrome gauges and a lots of knobs to pull. Banjo steering wheel completes the package. Interior is in nice condition. Seats are in great shape, showing no tears or rips. Cushions are thick and supportive. Some trim pieces are not installed, such as door panels. Speedometer, fuel, temperature, oil pressure, and voltage gauges work. Tachometer does not. Signals and brake lights function fine. Tail-lights when in the "running" position do not work; headlights do. Horn works. I have some of the interior parts not shown, and will include them with the sale. ffffffffffffffff Defining the term "sporty" are a pair of removable side curtains, which are in good shape, to use when the top is on. Soft top is in good condition. Traditional three plastic windows are clear and flexible. There is a slight tear on the front of the top that can be repaired or patched. The motor is a 4-cylinder MG 1800 unit with dual SU carburetors. This is not the original engine to the car, and there are some modifications that have been made, but I still have the stock parts to bring back to original. Also, I have another engine block - a 1500 - that came with the MG when I acquired it over 9 years ago. This motor may be the car's factory motor, but I am not certain. It will be included with the sale, if you want it. ffffffffffffffff The current motor runs strong and fires right up, even when cold, by pulling out the choke lever a bit. Oil pressure is good and it doesn't overheat. Like all British cars, it leaks some oil. The carbs could stand to be properly adjusted/balanced or the timing dialed in. Newer style alternator is mounted to the engine block using a fabricated, non-factory bracket. This should be corrected, as the alternator shimmies and will tend to rattle against the inner fenders of the engine bay when the motor is revved. It could also be due to a motor mount. Some of the missing engine bay components I do have and will include them with the sale. The gearbox is in good condition and there's no popping out of any gears. Transmission has the old "crash-box" non-synchro first gear. Brakes have new lines and the cylinders were also replaced on all wheels. The car will require two 6-volt batteries. The ones currently installed are old and require a "jump" to start the motor. I've owned this MG for nine years and have enjoyed driving it through the back roads and to the beach. Be sure to see the short V I D E O of the MGA running & driving at the end of the photo presentation. Trunk is plain and simple, containing spare steel wheel and tire. Bottom is solid, with no rust or corrosion, so that's an added bonus. ffffffffffffffff The raspy roar of the exhaust....the allure of a sporty European design...the cache of a vintage British motorcar....all these tickle the senses and add to the pride of MGA ownership. Driving a British roadster makes you feel like a kid in a candy store...excited and full of energy. The experience is pure fun - both for driver and passenger. This car instantly transfers you to another era when things were simple and taking an afternoon drive was pleasurable and something you looked forward to. ffffffffffffffff A classic MGA is a British icon that presents a good value and opportunity in the world of collectible automobiles, as they are quite sought after. This MG has not been restored, and requires the typical maintenance that comes with owning such as sports car. This tangible investment is safer than the stock market and is something you can enjoy, again and again. Why not mix business with pleasure? This 1959 MGA is being advertised in a Buy it Now, at $15,950 format. There is no auction, where missing out on a good deal in the last 15 seconds is a tragedy we all know too well. No, this vintage sports car is being offered For Sale right now, at a disclosed price, so don't let it get away!
