Being offered for the first time here is a truly unique, 1959 MGA 1500 roadster fresh from a two year frame off restoration (347 Miles). Our frame off consisted of blasting and coating the body with POR – 15 as were all suspension parts. The inner body was also blasted to bare metal then coated with Herculiner for both rust and sound protection. The entire body has been sealed with epoxy primer and finished in Old English White with a very slight hint of green, only noticeable under certain light. Rising from the ashes and now being hailed as an MGA 1800 Special, a truly one-of-a-kind offering. This 1959 MG was built to be a super reliable, extremely drivable, better designed MG then the original architects could have ever imagined. Let's start with what is under the hood, consisting of a 1971 MGB five, main bearing 1800cc high compression engine. Completely rebuilt by William Thomas Roadsters, consisting of new pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, timing chain and gears. Add to it a performance street cam, hardened valves, water pump, Petronix distributor, HiTorx starter, oil cooler, electronic cooling fan, flame thrower coil, Bosch 80 amp alternator and SU HS4 carbs with a polished stainless steel exhaust system. The extraordinary detail involved with this restoration becomes very evident just by looking under the hood. The engine is complemented by a Ford T-9 5speed transmission sourced from quantum mechanics with a custom driveshaft and stock MGA rear axle. Other drive train modifications include heat shields under the driver floorboard and special Moss motors cold air intake and custom hood insulation with MG logo. The wheels are tubless Dayton 72 spoke chrome with Dunlop 195/65/15's. The designer, A retired pilot, has eliminated the Lucas electrical system. The fuse panel, all relays, flashers, timers and other electrical components are mounted on aluminum panel located on the inside fire wall above the transmission tunnel. It is now called the central electrical panel (CEP)The generator has been replaced with the Bosch 80 amp alternator and the system is wired 12 V negative ground. The fuel pump is a modern electric type with a shut off switch located in the trunk. Our braking system has been updated to a duel circuit system, using a 1971 MGB master cylinder and pedal assembly. All steel brake lines have been custom-made and routed. The front brakes are discs using a Moss motors conversion kit that uses MGA rotors and calipers with stainless steel flex lines. The brakes are MGA vented drums. The pedal spacing has been widened from standard MGA set up to provide a more comfortable driving position. I will try to keep the body and interior description as brief as possible, simply commenting that it is a perfect 10 in and out. Our MG dashboard has been updated to Mark II specs for the most part. The 1800 interior is completely custom, seats being covered by a pretzel faux leather and piped in tobacco. The carpet is a German wool loop in bamboo, the dash cover is in matching pretzel to the seats. The transmission tunnel is lined with Dino Matt sound insulation and the rest of the carpet has been lined with a foil backed jute. The steering wheel is a wood Moto-Lita and the Tonneau cover is of the short type made of black canvas.
