This car was a ground-up restoration in 2000. Since I have had it (2008), I have added 3-point seat belts, changed the 2, 6-volt batteries to a single 12 volt, and bought new tires (also, of course, regular maintenance, tune ups, etc.). The car is currently State of Maine inspected with a regular (not Antique) registration. The MGA is a driver, not a show car, and it has faithfully taken us all around Acadia National Park (climbed Cadillac Mountain) and visited many other scenic spots around downeast Maine. Car always has been garaged, never driven in winter. Paint is good, but not perfect (was painted by the restorer). I have the photo album of the restoration, as well as original owner's manual. The MG is in good driving condition, no issues beyond what you would expect from a 56 year old car! We have more photos, and a brief video of the car being driven down our street... just ask.

To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. As to myself, I am not a dealer, just a (65) year old kid that loves muscle and classic cars. For my work, I recently retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and have worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,109) transactions. Many of those have been muscle and classic cars which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland and Australia. Here is some information/history on this rare 1980 MGB Limited Edition model. The Limited Edition was a marketing endeavor between B-L and the U.S. distributorship in Leonia, NJ to boost slipping sales in the North American Market. The production period of the North American version “LE” was 1979-1980. When asked how it was that it was assured that the cars were always black, it was stated that there was an agreement between “Leonia” and all North American dealers that the “LE kit” would be only installed on black cars and to buy a black car of that time period, it had to be a Limited Edition only. There were 6,668 produced in the two years of production. The ironic thing about the “LE kit” is that it is partially made up of parts manufactured in the U.S. The front air dam and luggage rack were made in the U.S. and then shipped over to England for packing into a kit that was then shipped back to the U.S. with the cars selected to be “LE”s, which were then installed by the selling dealer. This is why some “LE”s do not have a luggage rack. The dealer no doubt pulled it from the kit to put on another customer’s non-LE car. As the B-L listing (below) shows, the following items make the Limited Edition unique as compared to the other MGB models of that time period. It must be also noted that the North American model came only in the “Tourer” body style and not the GT. · Front air dam · L.E. Five spoke alloy wheels, manufactured by GKN, with MG hub center appliqués · Silver lower body stripes · Luggage rack · Leather covered, padded, three spoke steering wheel with a special center hub. This uses the same MG applique as the wheels · A Limited Edition dash plaque installed on the glove box Items NOT part of the kit, as has been stated by some people, is Cocoa floor mats, overdrive, or air conditioning unit. This MGB LE was purchased on June 4, 1980 by a husband for his wife. The wife loved and cared for the car for many years and eventually the MGB LE was given to her daughter. It was in the same family for over 34 years and in that time, never driven in inclement weather and always stored in dry storage. The current owner purchased the MGB LE from the daughter in August of 2014 and has also kept it in dry storage with a wood floor but has now decided to part with it. The MGB LE is rust free and appears to have all of the original body panels intact. The interior is very nice with no rips or tears noticed. The convertible top looks to be in very good condition with no defects. All gauges to include the original radio work. The MGB LE starts and runs down the road with no noticeable issues. The MGB LE is documented with the original window sticker and every registration since new. There is also the original owner's manual, original sales brochure and a photo taken in May of 2003.
