You are looking at a VERY RARE ORIGINAL Factory C-code 429 Cobra Jet 1971 Mercury Cyclone GT optioned with a C-6 Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Air Conditioning, Rear Window Defroster, Bucket Seats and Center Console!! This car while needing a full restoration, is a ROCK SOLID California car and is an extremely worthy candidate with it's desirable option list and Big Block Powertrain!! This is a Super RARE car with just 58 Cyclone's being built with the C-code 429CJ Non Ram Air Engine and C6 Transmission. I am sure you could break it down even further based on it's long and unique option list but as one of 58 cars built that makes it rare enough in my book just as it sits. This is an ORIGINAL 1971 Mercury Cyclone GT that has spent it's entire life in Southern California until I found it and brought it back east. This car has it's original Blue and Yellow Six digit plates and spent it's early years cruising the streets of So Cal as a very cool and stylish Big Inch Mercury Muscle Cruiser! This car was a driver for a number of years before being put into long term storage. Somewhere along the way the original engine and transmission were removed and separated from the car and a period correct 429 Thunder Jet and C-6 Transmission were installed in the mighty CJ Cyclone. The Cyclone GT ended up being parked as a someday project and forgotten about while waiting for the next Cyclone enthusiast to come along and restore this car to its former glory!! This car was a Company Lease Plan vehicle and ordered in the Home Office Reserve 84 DSO in P-code Medium Green Metallic with a matching Medium Ivy Green Houndstooth Cloth, Green Vinyl Top and Medium Green Houndstooth Cloth and Vinyl Bucket Seat Interior. My father was a Ford Executive back in the day and we had Company Lease Plan Vehicles that we drove as part of the perks of my father's compensation package. He always ordered cars with the Biggest Engine and Loaded them down with options just like this car!! It really brought back some very cool memories when I got the Deluxe Marti Report and it confirmed the car's Company Lease Plan status and its very cool option list. This GT was further spec'd out with the very strong optional C-code 429-4V 370hp Non Ram Air Cobra Jet Engine, C-6 Automatic Transmission, and a 9 inch 31 Spline Nodular 3.25 Traction-Lok rear end! This '71 Cyclone GT was well equipped and per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows: 429-4V 370HP CJ V-8 Engine C-6 Automatic Transmission3.25 9 inch Traction-Lok RearMedium Green Metallic Exterior PaintMedium Ivy Green Vinyl Bucket SeatsCenter ConsoleG70-14 Wide Oval Belted Raised White Letter TiresAir ConditioningElectric ClockVisibility GroupPower SteeringPower Disc BrakesAM-FM Stereo RadioElectric Rear Window DefrosterDeluxe Belts/Warning LightPower Side WindwosTinted GlassTrim Rings and Hub Caps The original C-code 429-4V Cobra Jet Engine and C6 Transmission have gone MIA and they have been replaced with a period correct 429-4V 360HP Thunder Jet engine and C6 Transmission. They have just been placed in the engine bay and never connected. So as it sits the car does not run and that is pretty much where the project stalled. The bullet proof 3.25 geared 9 inch 31 Spline Nodular Traction-Lok brings up the rear and is the original rear end to the car. The car looks to have had one repaint over the original Medium Green paint and then the primer you see on it now. It had a 1/4 section done way back in the day on the driver's 1/4 and it will need to be redone as it was old school back in the day body shop work and not the kind of restoration work that is done today. The Body on the Cyclone while certainly not perfect is actually a very solid and it's Southern California roots show in this car's solidity. The Hood, Fenders, Doors, and 1/4's are all very decent on the car. The Frame Rails, Rockers, etc. are all So Cal ROCK solid on this car. The Grille was damaged in shipment, but I do have the '71 Gunsight and grille pieces to go with the car. I also have most of the body side moldings as well but they are not perfect. I have a nice replacement decklid as well. You will need parts and pieces for this car but it is a super solid platform to start with!! There is a small rust hole on each of the front fenders where it looks like the drain clogged and they held some water and some very minor rust in the very lower corner of the 1/4 panels, but it really is nothing compared to what you see here in the East. The trunk drops on both sides are nice on the car as is the inner trunk area itself. The Floor pans have some surface rust on them, but overall are rock solid as you would expect from a Southern California car. While certainly not perfect; this is probably a 95% rust free car; the rust repair that does need to be done is minimal and strictly cosmetic. The fact that the car remained in Southern California all these years with their mild climate; it helped to preserve the bones on this car so it could live to fight another day. The Bucket Seat Interior for the most part is all there to include its correct and original '71 only molded door panels. While it does show the years of wear and tear; most all of the pieces seem to be serviceable/restorable pieces. The original AM-FM radio as is the Optional Gauge Dash with Tachometer. Car retains its original Rim Blow Steering wheel. The dash is original and uncut. Car will need carpet and a headliner. The car rolls on an original set of 15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels; but I do have access to an original set of 14x7 Steel Wheels with Trims and Hub Caps as the car had originally if the buyer desires those instead This would be a perfect donor car is you have a 429 Cobra Jet drivetrain or another Cyclone Rust Bucket that this Super Solid Southern California Cyclone would make the perfect fix for!! I do have several other '70-'71 Cyclone's that I will be auctioning off soon to include GT's and Spoiler's with both C and J code engines to include 3 4-speed cars. I also have multiple Small Block Cyclone GT Parts Cars available as well if someone wanted to make a package deal. Please be realistic in your expectations of this car as a 45+ year old project car that has been beat up and knocked around a bit needing complete restoration to include body work, mechanical work, and cosmetic reconditioning. Overall this is a very decent original 1971 Cyclone GT with a Big Block Pedigree that is a solid restoration candidate. There are lots of picked over rusted out carcasses out there; but decent do-able cars such as this that are not rusted to death do not come along very often. Especially one's with an option list like this one has!! If you have been looking for a Big Block Cyclone GT to restore then don't hesitate on this one; as is it may be sometime before another suitable restoration candidate such as this comes along again! The state of Georgia does not require titles on pre-1986 vehicles; the state issues a Transferrable Registration that is the ownership document of record and is the equivalent of a title when transferring the vehicle. With reciprocating titling laws in other states where older vehicles are required to be titled; this ownership document will convert to a title in your state. Other states that have this same titling process on older vehicles to include Alabama, New York, and Connecticut to name a few. I have a clean clear transferrable Georgia State Registration in my name for this vehicle and with it and a bill of sale it will convey title in your state or municipality. Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the Cyclone GT described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1971 Mercury Cyclone GT is a 45+ year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1971 Cyclone GT project car accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully to make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!! You are looking at a very RARE 1967 Mercury Cougar GT S-code 390-4V car that when new was a 1967 NEW Car Show Unit for Ford’s Lincoln-Mercury Division. Lincoln-Mercury batch built a special group of cars for a Lincoln-Mercury NEW Car Introduction show in Monterey, California at Pebble Beach in the fall of 1966. This car was one of a handful of Cougar Show Units all ordered the with same colors and options for this show to be built in Dearborn under an 84 DSO and shipped to California for Show Duty. As with most show cars once there 'SHOW'duties were over they were shipped to local Lincoln-Mercury dealers to be sold as demo's or used cars! This car was sold in California after the show and remained there for the next 45 years until I found it and brought back here to the East Coast. This is a super solid Black Plate California car that has had it's restoration started, but needs someone else to finish it. It has been apart and stored indoors for nearly 30 years. During that time some parts were lost or stolen and replacements sourced. There are also some duplicates too! The BIG stuff is here; but I am sure as the car goes back together some pieces will need to be acquired. You would probably replace a lot of these pieces in the restoration anyway. Bottom line is that this is a rock solid, well optioned car, in a great color combination; that combined with the fact that it is a former show car status makes this car a most worthy candidate to have its restoration completed. This 1967 Mercury Cougar GT is an ORIGINAL Jamaican Yellow on Black S-code 390GT-4V car with a factory rating of 335hp and was backed up with a C6 Automatic Transmission and connects to a bullet proof 9 inch rear end. This car being a SHOW UNIT is well optioned and documented as such per the Deluxe Marti Report. This 1967 Cougar GT was ordered as an ‘INTRODUCTORY SHOW UNIT’ Special Ordered in the Home Office Reserve District (DSO 84). This car has been a a lifelong California car and it still retains its original Black & Yellow California Plate. This RARE Big Block Cougar GT was further equipped with many optional features to include: Black Vinyl Roof, Closed Crankcase Emissions System, Exhaust Emission Control, GT Equipment Group, C6 Selectshift Merc-O-Matic Transmission, Convenience Control Panel, Courtesy Light Group, Electric Clock, F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval WSW Tires, Tilt-Away Steering Wheel, AM - 8Track Stereo Radio, Power Steering, Deluxe Seat Belts and Wheel covers The door tag info is as follows and as listed on the Deluxe Marti Report BODY 65A = Cougar Hardtop Color 8 = Jamaican Yellow Paint Ford # 1955-A Trim 2A = Black Standard Bucket Seat Interior Date 29J = September 29, 1966 Scheduled Build Date DSO 84 = Home Office Reserve District Axle 1 = 3.00 Conventional Axle with 9 inch ring gear Trans U = C6 3-speed Automatic transmission I have the original 390 GT Engine for this car that has been fully rebuilt and is ready to go. The GT 390 heads were fully redone as well. It has an S-code 390 GT Iron Intake, Chrome Power By Ford Valve covers, C70F Holley and its correct 390 GT Dual Screen Air Cleaner as well. I have a replacement C-6 Transmission for this car that needs to be rebuilt and it still has its original 9 inch rear end underneath it with the unique 1967 9 inch housing with the drain plug. This car has been taken apart and the restoration started. Of the bigger things of note that the car is missing are the console for it and the tilt is gone. It has a standard fixed steering column in it now. The engine bay has already been cleaned, but still needs detailing. The front suspension has been rebuilt and detailed as have the Kelsey Hayes front disc brakes on the car. Having been a lifelong California car it has been spared the rigors of the harsh Eastern Rust Belt Winters and as such the integrity of the body is incredible. However, there is some very minor rust in the passenger front floor that is most likely due to a leaky heater core that will have to be addressed, but this is an easy fix and very minor especially by east Coast standards. There is a little rust in one 1/4 panel most likely attributable to a clogged drain. This is a ROCK SOLID California Black Plate car!!! The rest of the sheet metal on the car; the hood, deck, doors, fenders, quarters, etc are all very nice on this car. The rest of the floor and frame rails again are nice solid examples!! The Hidden Headlight and Grille assembly are VERY NICE on this car as are the Tail Light Assemblies!! Being from dry central California and stored away in a garage for over 30 years they have been protected from the elements and they look it!!! There are LOTS of extra parts with this car to help with its restoration. This car needs someone to finish the restoration of this RARE and LOADED 1967 S-code 390 GT Cougar GT. It would be an absolutely gorgeous car when finished!! With its ‘Introductory Show Unit’ pedigree and a very impressive equipment list it makes this Big Block Cougar GT a very worthwhile restoration candidate!! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and ultimately for us both to be satisfied with it’s sale. I expect a $500.00 deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and the balance of payment within 7 days of auctions end. This 1967 Mercury Cougar GT is a 44+ year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is, where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied.
