1959 Mercedes Benz 190sl Beautifully Restored, Sold at McCormick's Palm Springs Exotic Car Auction and then ran into the back of a delivery truck! On the bright side, the hit is high, meaning no damage to the frame rails. In fact, you'll notice the bumper and turn signals were not damaged. I am included both the original accident damaged hood and replacement 190sl hood. Also, the grille and a headlight assembly. The passenger fender appears repairable, the driver fender is laregly repairable. A new nose cone is relatively inexpensive and will replace most of the damaged sheet metal. A good collision shop should be able to easily repair this 190sl. This 190sl is Highlighted by the Followed: Solid Undercarriage, Floor Boards and Suspension Without Any Undercoating Lovely Interior, Dash and Softtop The Engine Starts Immediately and Sounds Excellent!As you will see in the video, we bypassed the gas tank (the 190sl sat for a couple years in a storage unit. the gas tank should be purged of old fuel) I consider this an excellent 190sl for restoration to a driver or concurs level show car!Overall, this 190sl is a solid investment in a very strong and rapidly appreciating 190sl market! 1957 Mercedes Benz 190SL A very original 190sl just out of long term ownership Rare and Desirable 040G Black over Red Leather Numbers Matching 121.981 Engine Original Solex Carburetors Original Stamped Headlight Bezels Body Number Matching Hood Correct Date Coded Rims As this 190sl is a 121.042 Roadster, it was delivered without a hardtop from the factory. However, if the winning bidder prefers a hardtop, we have a black small window (used from 1955-1959) hardtop available for purchase. As you can see in the video, the engine starts effortlessly. The gas tank appears to have been replaced with a new unit. I would recommend a full fluid/filter service and inspect all systems to determine any needs. Cosmetically, the paint polishes nicely and could be touched up if you want a car that looks good from five feet. However, if you want a show car, a respray is advisable. The red leather interior has been recently replaced. With some tiding up, the interior can easily be made serviceable. Overall, I consider this an excellent 190sl to tidy up, drive and improve along the way. Alternatively, you can perform a full restoration to factory standards on this prime example of a numbers matching 190sl!
