Up for sale is my prized Mercedes Benz S55. If you’re looking at this, you probably already know much about these awesome cars. This is a dream car for me, and I’m reluctantly selling. However, don’t mistake reluctance for desperation. I’ll be happy to answer any questions, but PLEASE have the courtesy to read all I have candidly written below; chances are, your question may have already been answered. This car is the ultimate color combo (in my opinion) of the Pewter Silver paint & charcoal interior. This beauty is a real 2005 AMG S55. This car originally stickered for over $115,000. It has virtually all options available to this car- Keyless-to-go, heated/cooled dynamic seats, motorized rear shade, auto up/down on all 4 windows & the sunroof and more. The only option I can think of that this car didn’t have was the rear climate control. I purchased this car a couple of years ago via the internet from a gentleman in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This car was bought new in Florida, and spent all of its life there until I purchased it in June of 2013. So, the car is virtually rust-free except for some normal surface rust on a few items underneath the car. Much to my surprise, when I picked the car up, it was in better condition than I expected once I saw it in person. Also, the car appeared to have almost every service receipt in with the owner’s manual. This car was almost exclusively serviced by Mercedes Benz of Ft. Lauderdale, both during & after the vehicle warranty period. Also to my surprise- many of the issues that occur on these cars has been addressed, both within warranty, as well as many outside of warranty, but still repaired by the dealer and paid for by the original owner. All of these receipts will be included with the car, along with ONE key, the owner’s manuals, as well as some other extra parts as described below. First off, this car has VERY low miles. I bought it in 2013 with only 52,434 miles, and since it was bought as a “play” vehicle for my wife and I, in almost two years, it’s still under 60,000 miles (currently at 59,025, but I do still drive it some). As a result, it is still in excellent condition for a ten year old car. The exterior paint & wheels & the interior have only minor scuffs. The interior is especially clean. I don’t smoke, and there’s no evidence the prior owner did either. I have mostly garaged this car when I’ve owned it.The car runs & drives wonderful. It is astonishing that a car this heavy can still accelerate & handle like the best sports cars. The transmission shifts great in any mode- sport, comfort or manual (via the console shifter or the steering wheel paddles). The engine runs smooth and strong. Almost all of the car’s features and options work great. Since I purchased the car, I’ve done some cosmetic & mechanical work to the car: The car originally had the chrome grille with the “tri-star” hood ornament. I opted to order a real Lorinser sport grill & the flush hood emblem. The original grill & ornament are included. The car had mismatched tires, so I elected to replace all four tires with brand new Michelin Super Sport tires. These tires now have a little over 5,000 miles & are in great shape, and drive WONDERFULLY.I bought new German OEM front brakes, but found out the existing brakes had way too much life left. The pads are included with the car. The car has the “Keyless-to-go” option. The included keyfob works great for unlocking the car & starting it with the key in your pocket. However, the locking buttons on all four doors had torn rubber. Rather than spend thousands on replacement handles from Mercedes, I instead had the buttons “filled” with high-temp back hot-glue. Looks great, but none of the door handle lock buttons work anymore. I use the keyfob or the locking button near the trunk open button above the rear plate. It’s never bothered me, but you can obviously replace just the driver’s & passenger’s handles, or even all if you wanted, to get the system fully functional again.I had originally intended to keep the Mercedes stock Command system, so I purchased a Denison optical interface to allow me to add in an iPod input and Bluetooth. I installed the iPod in the center console where the original mobile phone was located. This all worked great for several months until the main Command unit started to freak out, then fail. At this point, I decided to replace the aging Command system with a modern, top-of-the-line Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX navigation unit. To do this, I enlisted the help of “The Car Audio Shop” here in St. Louis, which is owned by one of the only MECP Master Installers in this area. I had all the Bose speakers replaced with high quality ARC Audio components in the front and rear doors. We were able to leave in the Bose subwoofer, and powered everything with a Massive audio NX5 digital amplifier stealthily mounted under the back seat. The Pioneer navigation was installed with a nice European fit kit, and features Bluetooth calling, steering wheel control and TWO iPod/iPhone inputs. The first input is in the center console is where I originally installed the Dennison unit, and has a lightning connector for a newer iPhone/iPod Touch as well as a HDMI cable for use with the included Apple digital AV cable. So that input can use Apple’s “CarPlay” (Which is REALLY cool!) with just the lightning connector, or you can do full iPhone integration with the HDMI cable and screen mirroring, allowing you to use ANY app including video apps on the screen. The second input uses the previous generation 30 pin cable, and is located in the glove box. I pretty much left my fully-loaded 160G iPod Classic in there for access to all of my music. The radio also has SiriusXM installed for access to satellite radio. ALL of the original Bose speakers & the Command unit is included as well, but as stated, something is amiss with the main unit, though it may be repairable. The Command core components are still installed in the trunk, and the car could be flipped back to stock, if desired. Also included is the original insert for the center console phone unit. The floormats were a bit worn, so I bought all-new OEM AMG mats. The original flormats are also included.I bought a custom-fit windshield sun-screen that folds up for storage. This unit really helps control heat & sun damage. There is an installed hard-wired Escort X/K/Ka/Laser windshield mount radar detector with hidden supplemental controls hidden in the glove box.All Mercedes recommended maintenance, including cabin air filter replacements, have been done on this car (performed last by Exotic Motors Midwest here in St. Louis). There are only a few negatives with this car:As mentioned above, the locking buttons on all of the door handles are “filled” and consequently disabled. There is a VERY small ding in the black trim between the front rear windows on the drivers side. All four side windows & the two rear fixed windows are exhibiting the almost universal issue all W220 cars experienced with the laminated glass “delaminating” at the edges, which makes about ½-3/4” of the windows along the edges have an almost brownish quality. It’s a bit harder to notice on this car with the tinted windows, and virtually unnoticeable with the windows all up.The motorized trunk opener works fine, but when it closes, it doesn’t always latch all the way on the right side; when it finishes trying, I just simply press the right part closed. I would suspect a body shop or Mercedes dealer could adjust this. Please let me know if you have any questions besides what I’ve written. I’ve tried to be as up-front and honest as possible. I did NOT want to sell this car, but unfortunately, circumstances make it the best course. If you’ve made it this far, thanks for your time & thanks for looking! This really will be a great deal on a great car for the right person.
