The 1999 model year was the final year for the W140 chassis. In my opinion, the 140 chassis is the best platform ever offered by Mercedes-Benz. These cars have a very desirable combination of old school Mercedes reliability, solid construction and modern luxury appointments. These cars are the last of a breed when a Mercedes-Benz was built to a standard, not a price. The quality shows throughout this vehicle. Nearly every car on the road pales in comparison to a W140. I would rate the exterior of this S320 to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a gorgeous sedan. It is finished in silver over gray. The finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific example, the worst I can say about the exterior is a few small scuff marks on the bumper corners. As you walk around the exterior of this S320, it is quite a stunning automobile. The proportions of these cars are immense. They are noticeably wider than the generation of S-Class that followed. The body lines of this Mercedes sedan are as straight as an arrow. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. The vacuum assist is not working at the trunk but all four doors soft close as they should. The body cladding is all present and looks great with no visible fading. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with good tread all around. All of the glass and lenses are intact. Pride in ownership shows throughout this Mercedes-Benz. Please take the time to check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this S320 looks inside and out. I would rate the interior of this Mercedes-Benz to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. Again, the quality of these cars is evident in every aspect. The doors feel solid and heavy. They close themselves tightly and silently, as they should. The double-gasket windows seal tightly and produce a remarkably quiet interior. Between the vacuum close doors and the double thick windows, closing the door is almost like pressing the mute button for the outside world. Between the two layers of glass in the windows is a constant vacuum, which means that the side windows will never fog up. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The wood interior veneers show well and indicate that this Mercedes-Benz has probably spent most of her life cozy in a garage. The carpets show well for their age and are full looking throughout the interior. Both front seats are power operated. The leather shows very well for its age and is very comfortable. Being the more desirable long wheelbase sedan, rear seat room is ample. The power windows, seats, mirrors, sunroof and central locks all work properly. The power rear sunshade raises and lowers easily and smoothly. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. It offers independent settings for the driver and passenger. The heater works great and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The audio system is the original Becker/BOSE system which sounds good. The trunk is spaciou and clean. Again, pride in ownership shows throughout this Mercedes-Benz. A full set of books and manuals are included, as is the original $69,090 window sticker. Mechanically, this S320 appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 3.2L inline six cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are excellent, as you'd expect from an S-Class Mercedes. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. The steering and brakes feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. There have been no idiot lights on. The inline six cylinder engine makes plenty of power and is surprisingly effective in such a large sedan. In fact, an S320 could beat a same year Porsche Boxster from 0-60. The five speed automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts perfectly. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. The fuel sipping six cylinder engine gets remarkably good fuel economy, too. These are absolutely fantastic cars. I've owned more of these than I can count and I would argue with anyone that these are the best cars on the road. If you've never owned one of these, you should. It'll quickly become the basis by which you judge other cars. If you've been looking for a clean W140 with low miles, this Merc definitely deserves your serious consideration. Good ones of these are getting harder and harder to find. The next fortunate owner of this S320 will have the last of an era when a Mercedes-Benz was built to last. As time progresses, these cars will become very valuable. I would recommend keeping the miles off of this one if you can. The 1999 model year was the final year for the W140 chassis. In my opinion, the 140 chassis is the best platform ever offered by Mercedes-Benz. These cars have a very desirable combination of old school Mercedes reliability, solid construction and modern luxury appointments. These cars are the last of a breed when a Mercedes-Benz was built to a standard, not a price. The quality shows throughout this vehicle. Nearly every car on the road pales in comparison to a W140. I would rate the exterior of this S320 to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a gorgeous sedan. It is finished in silver over gray. The finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific example, the worst I can say about the exterior is a few small scuff marks on the bumper corners. As you walk around the exterior of this S320, it is quite a stunning automobile. The proportions of these cars are immense. They are noticeably wider than the generation of S-Class that followed. The body lines of this Mercedes sedan are as straight as an arrow. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. The vacuum assist is not working at the trunk but all four doors soft close as they should. The body cladding is all present and looks great with no visible fading. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with good tread all around. All of the glass and lenses are intact. Pride in ownership shows throughout this Mercedes-Benz. Please take the time to check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this S320 looks inside and out. I would rate the interior of this Mercedes-Benz to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. Again, the quality of these cars is evident in every aspect. The doors feel solid and heavy. They close themselves tightly and silently, as they should. The double-gasket windows seal tightly and produce a remarkably quiet interior. Between the vacuum close doors and the double thick windows, closing the door is almost like pressing the mute button for the outside world. Between the two layers of glass in the windows is a constant vacuum, which means that the side windows will never fog up. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The wood interior veneers show well and indicate that this Mercedes-Benz has probably spent most of her life cozy in a garage. The carpets show well for their age and are full looking throughout the interior. Both front seats are power operated. The leather shows very well for its age and is very comfortable. Being the more desirable long wheelbase sedan, rear seat room is ample. The power windows, seats, mirrors, sunroof and central locks all work properly. The power rear sunshade raises and lowers easily and smoothly. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. It offers independent settings for the driver and passenger. The heater works great and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The audio system is the original Becker/BOSE system which sounds good. The trunk is spaciou and clean. Again, pride in ownership shows throughout this Mercedes-Benz. A full set of books and manuals are included, as is the original $69,090 window sticker. Mechanically, this S320 appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 3.2L inline six cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are excellent, as you'd expect from an S-Class Mercedes. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. The steering and brakes feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. There have been no idiot lights on. The inline six cylinder engine makes plenty of power and is surprisingly effective in such a large sedan. In fact, an S320 could beat a same year Porsche Boxster from 0-60. The five speed automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts perfectly. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. The fuel sipping six cylinder engine gets remarkably good fuel economy, too. These are absolutely fantastic cars. I've owned more of these than I can count and I would argue with anyone that these are the best cars on the road. If you've never owned one of these, you should. It'll quickly become the basis by which you judge other cars. If you've been looking for a clean W140 with low miles, this Merc definitely deserves your serious consideration. Good ones of these are getting harder and harder to find. The next fortunate owner of this S320 will have the last of an era when a Mercedes-Benz was built to last.
