I have replaced the cheap plastic center vacuum rod and the triangular shaped actuator lever with aftermarket metal parts, which will NEVER ever break! Plus they come with a lifetime warranty!!!(see last pic) Mercedes doesn't give that! *Furthermore, if you know about Mercedes engines, BUT more importantly if you do not...they also have balance shaft issues, which can cost $4k-$7 to fix due to the tremendous amount of labor! There was a class action lawsuit against MB and a settlement, but the now case is closed and no further claims can be made. If this happened to you now, there'd be no financial assistance. The effected Mercedes are all models with the M272 and 273 engines from model years 2003-2008. *However, if the car's engine serial number is higher than 272972 30 468993, then your vehicle has the updated parts, and does not fall into the affected category. The engine serial number for this car is 272972 30 621033, so it was made after the bad parts, so you won't have to worry about that nightmare! Please feel free to look this info up on Google or on Mercedes Benz websites. I am not making any of it up, just trying to be honest and up front. If you are in the market for a used Mercedes Benz and decide to go with a cheaper one, you will most likely be setting yourself up for thousands in costly future repairs. And if you spend thousands more at a used dealership, that doesn't necessarily guarantee you will get a better car, it only guarantees that you will have spent more.
