This 1985 Unimog 1300L is being offered to you in excellent condition. This truck has all the desirable options and features most Unimog people want:OM352A turbo diesel. 253hp (estimate) up from the original 168hp. This engine was originally modified by Hellgeth in Germany for most of the power upgrades. 4" all stainless steel exhaust, 10mm plungers in the fuel pump. Fully rebuilt 4,400 miles ago.The engine was fully rebuilt at 77,777km (48,221 miles), full engine detailing including all aluminum polished, engine block, head, and overdrive was sanded and deburred, painted with same color as body, including clear coat, then professionally assembled and balanced, etc.The turbo is now a Holset HY-35 for quicker spool-up and low end power, the pop-off is set at approximately 2,900 rpm. Claas overdrive provides 22% faster speeds, will cruise all day at 65mph at 2,450 rpm with the Michelin 335/80r20 XZL tires. The Claas overdrive allows the driver to gear-split each gear for optimum performance. Much better than just the stock 8 speed transmission. Fast Axles allows faster cruising speeds. The winch is a Treibmatic 080, 8 metric ton rated (17,600 lb VERTICAL pulling force) with 160 feet of 16mm (over 5/8") diameter cable. The winch spools the cable to a separate reel without putting a load on the cable. Provides maximum pulling force from beginning to end. This is the absolute best winch ever built, costs over $32,000 new plus installation. This truck was originally a fire truck from Hamburg, Germany and has led a very easy life, the winch only has a couple of hours use. It is hydraulically operated, has its own oil cooler and is designed to be operated 24 hours a day if needed. Try doing that with your Warn or cheap Chinese winch. The truck has two hydraulic circuits, one dedicated to the winch, another on the front bumper including the optional high flow return for certain hydraulic accessories. The entire cab and bed was stripped to bare metal, epoxy primed, sealed, and painted with PPG paints. This truck never has had any rust nor Bondo anywhere, I had the truck painted at a cost over $21,000. The front bumper, trailer hitch, side steps and boxes are custom made and are powder coated. The trailer hitch is rated at 16,000 lbs. One thing the new owner will have to do is wire the trailer connector, I just never completed that task. The truck operates on 24 volts, starts up like right now! The tail lights are LED's and work great! The head lights are Hella Euro with halogen bulbs, great night illumination. Also there are three additional sets of lights, the factory cowl mounted working lights, front bumper mounted side lights, and front bumper mounted down lights.There are 4 Optima batteries, 2 for starting the engine, 2 for a future camper. All non-factory wiring using marine grade tinted wire, and adhesive shrink connectors for maximum corrosion free life. The marine grade battery cut out switch allows to use 1 or 2 battery banks. The interior is really quiet and comfortable for an Unimog, no ear plugs needed. The floor has an Atkinson-Voss sound deadening kit, the seats are high end cloth seats which are extremely comfortable.The Greentop air conditioning system works very well, I always run around with the setting on low. All mechanical items have been replaced with new: front calipers, all rotors and wear rings, water cooled HD air compressor, turbo, starter, radiator, water pump, dual fuel filter housings, dual oil filter housings, clutch and pressure plate, most air brake components, etc. No expense was spared when I was building the truck. The 50 gallon fuel tank has built in steps, 15 additional gallons of fuel is provided by the 2 each 20 liter fuel cans, and 2 each 10 liter fuel cans. The spare tire has its own crane system with a 500 lb safe working winch. Changing a tire is a one man experience. The tires are relatively new, about 7,000 miles of use. All the glass is new, and with light tint. When the body was painted, all rubber seals were replaced with new. Most bolts are new, in fact the engine and overdrive has $1,200 of polished ARP stainless steel 12 point fasteners. Currently registered and titled in Wisconsin until December 2015.
