1988 Mercedes-Benz 560 2 Dr Convertible Message - 48k Original Miles- Desirable Red/Black Livery- Clean Carfax- Mechanically Strong- Cosmetically Clean Dealership Information Goodman Reed Motorcars805-202-4557info@goodmanreed.comwww.goodmanreed.comSanta Barbara, CA Description 0 0 1 351 2006 Goodman Reed Corporation 16 4 2353 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is a gorgeous, very clean, 48k original mile 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL finished in timeless Signal Red over black with a black soft top. Originally sold in Southern California, this three-owner example had been in South Florida since 1997 before we acquired it earlier this winter. Always well maintained, the car is as mechanically strong as it is cosmetically clean, used consistently throughout its 28 years of service, but as a secondary car, yielding its low original miles The car looks and runs more like it’s a couple years old rather than nearly three decades. The Signal Red finish is in excellent condition, marred only by the most negligible of imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the pictures. All of the panel fits and gaps are perfect and there’s absolutely no evidence of accidents, further bolstered by a clean Carfax report. Perhaps the car’s most visible imperfection is a soft ding on the top of the front bumper, however it’s difficult to see as the front license plate sits directly in front of it. The rest of the chrome is good original condition, as is all of the rubber and glass, the both the hard top and soft top are in great shape, the latter retaining a crystal clear rear window. The car’s black interior is equally clean, the seats showing only minimal wear typical of any 48k mile example. The carpets and interior panels are in great condition and the dash and interior wood trim are free of cracks. Lastly, the original chrome wheels are wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread. Always well maintained, the engine starts easily, idles smoothly and consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. The car drives and brakes straight and true and is extremely comfortable with a civilized modern ride quality, whether tooling through town, winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway at Autobahn speeds. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a gorgeous, low mileage, mechanically strong 560SL. We feel the 560SL represents an excellent value in classic cars – abundantly usable, timeless styling and incredible build quality, all at an affordable price point. Whether you’re a Mercedes enthusiast or just looking for a clean, entry level modern classic, this low mileage example deserves your serious consideration. ? ? ?Contact Us About Us Goodman Reed Motorcars is a boutique vintage car dealership specializing in the sale, location and brokerage of rare and collector quality vehicles. 1970 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 Message - Solid, Well-Cared-For, Very Original Example- Desirable Factory Correct Livery- Heavily Documented Service History- Mechanically Excellent with nearly $25k spent within the last 10k miles. Dealership Information Goodman Reed Motorcars805-202-4557info@goodmanreed.comwww.goodmanreed.comSanta Barbara, CA Description 0 0 1 625 3566 Goodman Reed Corporation 29 8 4183 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is a gorgeous, well-cared-for, very original, numbers matching, heavily documented 1970 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 finished in desirable and attractive Dark Green (DB 291) over Cognac leather. The 300SEL 6.3 started out as an auspicious personal project by company engineer and amateur racer Erich Waxenberger, who was able to somehow squeeze the heralded 6.3L V8 M100 engine from the flagship 600 limousine into the popular Paul Bracq designed W109 body, which until that point was offered only with a 6-cylinder engine. Seeing the opportunity to more comprehensively utilize the M100s production facilities, Mercedes surprisingly decided to slate the car for production, developing Waxenberger’s weekend project into the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing – an elegant and supremely comfortable sedan that provided performance similar to – if not better than – most of the dedicated sports cars of the era. Independent road tests confirmed an astonishing 0-62mph time of 6.3 seconds (fittingly) and standing quarter mile time of 14.2 seconds. This beautiful example was purchased new by Charles Becker, the owner of Charles G. Becker Mercedes-Benz, a factory authorized dealership in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He used it as his personal car until the late 1970s, when he sold the car to his friend and insurance agent. He kept the car until 1982 when he in turn sold it to his banker, also of Pittsburgh. The third owner would keep the car for the ensuing 25 years until 2006, when it was sold to the last and most recent owner, an attorney from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In the nine years of his ownership the previous owner spent nearly $25k ensuring the car was as mechanically sound as possible, primarily with Brooklyn Motoren Werke, Inc., a well-respected marque expert in Brooklyn, WI. In addition to the most recent service receipts, the car also comes with a stamped service booklet and a thick stack of receipts going back to the 1970s, documenting the car’s mileage as well as thorough and consistent care throughout its ownership history. Having had cosmetic refurbishments performed as needed rather than ever having been fully restored, the car remains quite original and exceedingly presentable. The desirable Dark Green finish has only a handful of minor imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the photographs, and the chrome and glass are in excellent original condition. Always properly garaged, the car’s undercarriage is solid and original and the body is straight with consistent panel gaps and fits throughout. The interior is equally clean, the carpets, dash, wood accents, interior panels, headliner and rear seats all in excellent original condition and the front seats recently reupholstered in the correct material and pattern. Everything on the car works as it should, including the power windows, lights, heat, original Becker Grand Prix radio and the air conditioning, which has been converted to R134A. The results of Brooklyn Motoren Werke’s efforts are evident and the car is in excellent mechanical condition. The original engine starts easily, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the transmission’s gears. The car drives and brakes straight and the air suspension performs flawlessly, free of any leaks. Rather than list all of the recent mechanical work, PDF copies can be made available to qualified buyers upon request. The car leaves nothing to be desired from behind the wheel, the torquey M100 leaping to attention with grin-inducing force when asked, but smooth and unobtrusive while merely cruising down the highway. The air suspension yields an incredibly comfortable ride quality making the car a joy to drive in any circumstance. Whether as a serious collector or a weekend enthusiast, if you’re in the market for a 6.3, this very original, well-cared-for, mechanically excellent, heavily documented example deserves your serious consideration. Values have more than doubled over the last seven years and, with room for additional appreciation, a car in this mechanical condition, with this history and finished in these colors is a wise and thrilling investment. ? ? ?Contact Us About Us Goodman Reed Motorcars is a boutique vintage car dealership specializing in the sale, location and brokerage of rare and collector quality vehicles. 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Message - Entirely Numbers Matching Mechanicals and Body - Solid Completely Original Undercarriage - Original Hood & Factory Spot-Welded Front Fenders - All Original Books and Manuals - Extensive Receipts and Documentation Dealership Information Goodman Reed Motorcars805-202-4557info@goodmanreed.comwww.goodmanreed.comSanta Barbara, CA Description 0 0 1 781 4458 Goodman Reed Corporation 37 10 5229 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is a gorgeous, extremely original, mechanically strong and correct 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL, owned for the last 31 years by a doting Southern doctor who always afforded the car the best possible care. Verified by its original data card (included), the car is finished in factory correct Black (DB 040) over red leather, arguably the most appealing livery ever offered on a W121. The car left the factory as a two-tone car with a White (DB 050) hard top and hub caps, and while we still have the original White hard top, we also happen to have a correct Black “big window” hardtop as well, which we prefer. The buyer will have their choice of tops to accompany the sale. Of particular note, the car retains the following: Entirely Numbers Matching Mechanicals and BodyOriginal Dual Solex Carburetors (Rebuilt in 2004)Solid Completely Original UndercarriageOriginal Factory Spot-Welded Front FendersOriginal Stamped Matching Numbers HoodAll of its Original Books and Manuals (Including Stamped Service Booklet)Largely Complete Original Factory ToolkitExtensive Binder of Service Receipts and Documentation of History Sold new to its first owner by Giorgio Motor Co. in Baltimore, MD, the car made its way to Alabama when Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mitchell of Birmingham (the second owners) acquired it in the early 1970s. As “preservation class” vintage cars hadn’t yet been given the credence that they’ve come to enjoy (both in terms of recognition and valuation) the Mitchell’s made the choice to refinish the car in its factory correct black paint at some point during their tenure, which is the finish the car still wears today. In February of 1984, the car was sold with 115k miles on the odometer to its third and most recent owner, Dr. William Lell, also of Birmingham. Like the Mitchells, Dr. Lell always kept the car properly serviced and garaged, using it as a cherished weekend driver – in 31 years of ownership he accrued a mere 7k additional miles. Upon acquiring the car he had the seats reupholstered in correct red leather and a new correct canvas soft top installed, both at Bud’s Benz in Douglasville, GA. Throughout his ownership, the car has consistent maintenance, evidenced by a thick stack of service receipts from local marque experts. It should come as no surprise then that the car is in fantastic shape mechanically. The original, numbers matching engine starts effortlessly, idles smoothly and consistently and pulls strongly through each of the original transmission’s gears. The car drives and brakes straight and true, the suspension is tight and the car is a joy to drive, whether tooling through town, winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway. The car is ideal for both top-down weekend cruises to local shows and more strenuous touring events. It needs nothing to be enjoyed save for an appreciative new owner. As the pictures show, the finish applied in 1984 has held up quite well and the car remains absolutely gorgeous. While having a number of minor imperfections (each insignificant enough to not appear in the pictures), the factory correct Black finish is deep and lustrous, perfectly offset by the lascivious red interior. The seats themselves appear almost new, the carpets are in good shape and the car retains its immaculate, uncracked original steering wheel and fully functioning Becker radio. The glass and chrome are in excellent original condition and while the car’s soft top shows some limited wear the rear window is clear and it remains entirely serviceable. Perhaps most notably, as the recipient of proper care and storage, the frame and undercarriage are entirely solid and original, showing no evidence of harmful rust or repairs. A condition mirrored in the trunk and engine compartment, it tells the story of a remarkably untouched, extremely original example that has always lived a charmed life. As meticulous an owner as you’ll find, Dr. Lell comprehensively documented his 31 year ownership of the car including the aforementioned thick stack of service receipts, all of the sales documents from his acquisition of the car, an appraisal from just prior (describing the car as being in “exceptionally good condition”) and a range of technical data for the car. The car is also remarkably complete in terms of original tools, retaining its rare (and expensive to replace) original tool kit, spare tire and changing tools. The car also comes with its original data card, all of its original books and manuals and even the original packing slip from June of 1961. Finally, as mentioned above, the car will also come with either its original White big window hard top or a correct black big window hardtop as seen in the pictures. This is a truly uncommon opportunity to acquire an extremely original, entirely numbers matching and correct, well documented, extremely honest and beautifully presented 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL. 0 0 1 583 3327 Goodman Reed Corporation 27 7 3903 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is a beautiful, mechanically strong, entirely solid 1966 Mercedes 250SE Coupe finished in two-tone Blue Metallic and Silver Grey Metallic over a complimentary dark blue interior. A European version that was imported to California in the early 1970s, this 250SE is a clean and presentable example that can either be enjoyed as-is or viewed as an incredibly solid and original platform that can be taken to the next level. The gorgeous two-tone Blue Metallic and Silver Grey Metallic finish has its share of minor imperfections, however none of them are significant enough to really appear in any of the pictures. The body is entirely straight with consistent and correct panel fits and gaps throughout and no evidence of any accidents or bodywork. All of the glass and chrome remains in good original condition and the wheels are wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread. Always well cared for and properly garaged, the car’s undercarriage in entirely solid with no harmful rust or corrosion to speak of. The car’s interior is equally as clean, the seats, carpets and interior panels all in great shape and showing only limited wear. The wood interior trim could stand refinishing, the car retains its original Becker radio and the car’s headliner is in good original condition. The car is also mechanically sound, the original engine firing up easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly through each of the automatic transmissions’ gears. Compression is good across all cylinders, the brakes function as they should and the car is joy to drive, whether tooling through town or bombing down the highway. This is the first era of Mercedes’ classic cars that are adequately powered and advanced enough that they can be comfortably and reliably driven in modern highway conditions, and we wouldn’t hesitate to drive this car anywhere. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a solid, beautiful and mechanically strong appreciating classic. Heckflosse (fin tail) W111 coupes are one of the most timelessly elegant cars that Mercedes ever produced, and in our opinion they’re also one of the most undervalued investment grade cars on the market today, as their convertible and eight cylinder kin continue to break sale records at nearly every collector car auction in the annual circuit. It’s only a matter of time before the market catches up to the six cylinder W111s, making them excellent investments that are modern enough mechanically to truly drive and enjoy. We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed. Goodman Reed Motorcars We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic rotating collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this Mercedes (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

Only 613 W111 “Heckflosse” (fintail) coupes were produced with the tried and true 2.8L inline six cylinder engine in 1970 – the first year to introduce the desirable low grill design – and this is believed to be the only one that left the factory in this unique two-tone livery. It’s arguably as rare as W111 coupes come. Exceptionally RareNumbers MatchingFactory Correct Unique Original ColorsRare Sunroof (Especially for a European Version)Desirable Floor-Shift Automatic TransmissionStrong Original MechanicalsClean Paint with Few ImperfectionsGreat Original Chrome and GlassCompletely Original Leather Interior with Wonderful Patina.Becker Grand Prix Radio While not a show car, this rare example has always been lovingly cared for and could serve reliably for another 45 years as a very presentable weekend driver or as an excellent original base for a top-notch restoration. Considering their rarity and the astronomical prices that their Cabriolet and 3.5 Coupe siblings are fetching, W111 Coupes have long been undervalued in most classic car enthusiasts’ minds. That’s not always going to be the case, so it’s our opinion that they currently represent excellent investment upside. Finding “Low Grill” W111s is hard enough as it is, but finding a rare European version, with unique correct colors and desirable options is perhaps an irreplaceable opportunity.
